Champion 26509 Sydney | Subject: The Monster Mash Team Intro Welcome to the Running Challenge Team Monster Mash represents all those scary creatures that have fascinated humans in movies and stories. The most famous of these would be Frankenstein, but think scary, ugly and sometimes green!
Your team line up is: 1. BAMBAM66 2. Cmrey528 3. Comet 4. Davealt 5. M1sh4p 6. Mixie 7. Naners 8. Runnerx 9. Smilford Please introduce yourself to your team below with your goals for the challenge and running in general, what they are training for as well as names and any other general info. You will also need to nominate/select/volunteer a Team Leader whose role will be to collect the commitments for each runner and collect your team results every Monday. Your running time must be logged in your BT Log for verification purposes, but you are responsible for reporting your weekly results to your Team Leader on Mondays, this is done by posting an update in your team thread in the challenges forum unless the team prefers another method. Attached to this post is an excel excel spreadsheet to be used by the Team Leader for your team tracking and should be sent to me on Tuesdays AM so I can get an challenge update post in the forum by Wednesday each week. The spreadsheet includes the details of any team members who have already made a challenge commitment. I will be maintaining a Team Leaders thread for any queries, questions etc so if there are any problems please let me know. This is a team competition so please support your team mates with inspires, motivation and encouragement as well as pledge your allegiance in your sig line, log and even avatar! Good natured sledging and competition with the other teams is part of the fun so feel free to stir up a bit of friendly rivalry, Most importantly this is all about fun and you reaching your goals!!! So…time to get running! Let the challenge begin!! Attachments ---------------- Monster Mash Tracking Sheet.xls (13KB - 32 downloads) |

Member 27 Maryland | Subject: RE: The Monster Mash Team Intro Hey fellow monsters. I know that I am on the right team because after running hard I am usually ugly and green looking. I also know that we will be the team that does not have to post any leg pictures. A little about myself. I am 37, married with 4 young kids (9,7,4, 18 months) and I am training for my first olympic triathlon in Columbia MD next May. I just started training three weeks ago. Last week I fell off the training wagon, but I am now securely buckled in. I really do not want to have to post my legs, so this challenge will make sure I do not fall off again. Besides training for this event I also enjoy scuba diving in the summer and snow boarding in the winter. My goal for the month is 50 miles. That is a little over what my training program has me listed for, but I wanted to push it a little bit extra for the challenge. Good luck to everyone!! If I can do anything to help the team, please let me know!! PS. I also updated the Excel spreadsheet to add my name to the list and attached it to this post. There are some great runners on this team. smilford has 140 miles for the month, you rock!! -Steve Edited by sczerny 2007-10-01 8:07 AM Attachments ---------------- Team_Monster.xls (14KB - 38 downloads) |

Master 1989 New Jersey | Subject: RE: The Monster Mash Team Intro Hey Monsters, I just hope by our team name, it doesn't mean I'll be spending lots of time in the M*A*S*H medical tents! My story - I run alot of the New York Road Runners races so that gets me guaranteed entry in the NYC marathon. So, I'm in training for that (Nov 4). But, I also got convinced by some of my running club friends to do Chicago Marathon (Oct 7). A little aggressive on back-to-back marathons, but I figured I'll race one and enjoy the other. So then back in August before the training really ramped up and after I was done with tri's for the year, I thought it was the perfect down-time to play a little ice hockey. What a mistake! I ended up straining my abs. 6 weeks of trying to run, shutting it down, trying again, etc. Stupid, stupid, stooooopid! So I'm heading into Chicago this Sunday on 3 weeks of running - my long runs for the past 3 weeks - 9,13,16. Not good. So, we'll see - I'll start Chicago and treat it as a long run for NYC. If I make 20 I'd be psyched. Anything further is a bonus! As for my personal life - live in NJ, 43 yr old, separated, with 3 great kids. Between their activities starting up for the school year, my job, my new life, etc., I'm running around from one thing to another. But I enjoy the running. I guess it's what keeps me sane. I put down 120 miles for my goal. Honestly, things are really going to have to go smoothly for me to hit that, but I want to be challenged and that would enable me to have a respectable NYC. Looking forward to "meeting" y'all. Walt |

Veteran 288 jacksonville, FL | Subject: RE: The Monster Mash Team Intro Hello Monsters, Well I used to love running then I hated it now I do it because it is part of the whole sport but it is what I am usually best at. My goal is 80 miles for the month I dont think I normally run 80 miles in two months since I keep my running to the bare minimum. I need to get my miles up and it is something I am capable of just have yet to find the drive to, so I figure this would be it. Good luck to all reaching their running goals! |

Master 2355 Houston, TX | Subject: RE: The Monster Mash Team Intro Hey Monsters! This is my off season time and I like to target 5ks and 10ks during this time to lower my PR one more time before the years end. I started my 'off season' this weekend with a disaster of a race! So I'll be all over my running this month. Besides that, I target the HARRA(Houston running) short SPRING series of 2milers to 10ks and everything inbetween for a total of 5-6 races and a few duathlons and triathlons around the same time. So I like to get a decent amount of mileage for the next few months. I'm going to be looking for 140miles for the months, which after 130miles this month with only 2 runs that were 10miles long for logn runs, 140 miles shouldn't be too big of a deal. So hopefuly this helps me from slacking off on one of those bad days, and sets me up to run a few good races before the year is over. |

Expert 929 Hawaii | Subject: RE: The Monster Mash Team Intro Hi Monsters, I'm 26. I don't have any children, but am planning on getting some kittens here before too long. I'm not married, but am dating a guy who runs, bikes, and swims...so I usually have company whenever I want it during workouts. I got involved in this triathlon thing a little more than a year ago, and am pretty horrible runner. So I thought that I would train for a marathon to make me focus on my running during the off season....my target is the Honolulu marathon in December. This challenge appeared at the perfect time. My goal for the month is 115 miles. It will be the most that I've ever run in a month, but is a few miles shy of my training plan. So, barring any injuries, I should be meeting that goal. Extreme Veteran 322 Reston, VA | Subject: RE: The Monster Mash Team Intro Hey everyone! Let's see....I'm 20 and a college student, which means I have pretty much all the time I want to train, it's just a matter of getting my butt out the door. I started tri training about a year and a half ago as a means of getting back in shape, and I've since completed two sprints. Races aren't a huge focus for me because a) they're expensive and b) i'm slow =) but I do have my sights on an olympic distance next summer and maybe even a half marathon in the spring. Running has always been my limiter, which I'm sure is directly related to my lack of consistency in run training. My pledge: 40 miles in the month of October. Hey, everyone's gotta start somewhere, right? Now let's start mashing those monsters!.....uh, you know what I mean. |

Expert 721 Chandler, AZ | Subject: RE: The Monster Mash Team Intro Hi Yall! I'm Robin, 27, from Phoenix, but I am currently in Australia. (Headed to Darwin today!) I have been traveling around the world since June, and I am rather doing the traveller's maintenance plan. Or even - I am just starting up again, after 6 months of doing nary a bit of running (but enough walking, hiking, snorkeling, etc, to stay in good aerobic shape). So since I am just starting, the goal is 30 miles for the month. That's 7 miles a week, very doable. Must add that I am headed out on a trip to the Australian Outback, and I can't guarantee daily internet access. Half the time over the next 3 weeks, I am planning on bushcamping, so definitely no interneting there. I am the type, however, that will get online, if there's online to be getting. So I will keep my blog as updated as possible. Will that work for yall? |

Master 1457 MidWest | Subject: RE: The Monster Mash Team Intro Hey everyone! I'm Beth and got dragged into this sport by my hubby, McFuzz. I did my first sprint this summer and am setting my sights on an Olympic next year. I find that I do better on goals if I have someone to hold me acountable. My goal is 30 miles for month. I'm hoping that with the training plan that I'm on it will be more than that. I just imported a plan for doing an Olympic and it is run based. I was thinking that I would do a 16 week plan that is run based and then another plan that is swim based and, finally, a bike based one. I'm hoping that will get me through the winter and then I can do one that is balanced.

Queen BTich 12411 , | Subject: RE: The Monster Mash Team Intro Hi everyone! Sorry I'm late reporting in, my schedule is a little erratic. I'm in the Army and some days I have tons of time to train and some days I don't. I'm in nursing school so that comes first. We run 2-5 miles 3x/week. I'm just starting to get into running shape, although all year I've been keeping in shape doing what I can: rucking, weights, easy running, some riding and swimming. Goal: 90 miles! Eeeek! Thats about as much as I've run all year so this should get interesting. There will be plenty of walking in there. I've got 2 marathons planned and I'm using them as training runs but thats a guaranteed 52.4 miles! Just 40 more on my own... |
