Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Greetings all, Just a quick word of thanks for such a great site and all the wonderful support. I have just recently joined and have a quick, well maybe not so quick question. I have my training log set and my training plan imported. While I can export to a CSV file it seems that I am having issue mapping all the appropriate data to the latest version of Outlook. My end goal is that I would like to have my training calendar on my PDA since my life exists on that little device. Any thoughts on getting the CVS file to Outlook, a PDA or maybe even to vcal or ical formats? Thanks for any advice and have a great rest of the weekend. Michael |

Also, if you have Outlook on your PDA I'm assuming you're receiving email on it. Why not have your workouts emailed to you (see the Defaults tab in the training log Control Panel ), and then create an appt or task from the email?

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hi mtnchick13, Hope you are having a great weekend. The last two iterations of MS Office the icalendar (.ics) and vcalendar (.vcs) formats are supported and work quite well. I often transfer calendars from my work system to my home system in an effort to keep things in sync. Working in IT for a large public school system I work with both Windows-based and Apple-based operating systems. My conversion utilities seem to only wish to have a cvs file that would have come from an exchange server. With that just to many categories to make a mass import as simple as I wish. :-) Not a big deal. Just looking for the simplest, quickest method. Alway looking for a way to spend less time on the computer since I seem to spend way too much time with them during the day. Best of the week to you! Michael |

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hi marmadaddy, Thanks for the thought on converting to HTML. A little more work than I wished to do. I am having my workouts emailed to me, but I have a strange schedule and was looking to do a simple mass import so that the full schedule would be in my calendar and then my PDA in one big shot. Creating appointments from emails will work just fine. I may just spend some time with some quick copy/pasting and getting everything into my calendar in advance. Thanks so much for the suggestions. Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Some sort of export to iCal is something we'll possibly do at some point, it's certainly gathering steam as a standard and as the average user gets more mobile the demand for it will probably increase. One thing I learned from a former employer is that chasing down and developing for this years Still, having said that, the iCal format does look like it's shaping up to be a long term standard. |

Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hi Mike, I know exactly what you are speaking of with those wishing to chase down the latest and greatest. That is something that I deal with every day in my work in IT for the local school district. Even the simplest item where an end-user suddenly decides that their classroom computer or assigned laptop is no longer a useful tool. The reason is that they have seen something new and different, and now have their mind set that their current system is too slow or just doesn't work correctly to meet their needs. Of course there are the administrators that feel they have found some great new tool. Long story with that one. The constantly changing face of technology will continue to be a great ebb and flow. Great things will come, many bad, and some great things will never see the light of usefulness. I will say that the ical standard does see to be taking shape. Probably due to the support and development in the open-source community. With organizations such as Mozilla and their Sunbird Calendar, and even Apple's iCal this may be one to stick around. At least there is the ever solid UNIX. Nice to quickly delete all those MP3 files students think they have hidden on their sharepoint. rm *.mp3 Now it is just simpler to do it with a cron task or a script to regain sharepoint space. Whenever it comes around we'll be greatful. I'll be getting the silver membership soon (after having gold twice), so dedicate my fund to ical programing, that should be for about 15 mins of development time ![]() ![]() |

Member ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have an application that I wrote to take the CSV workout file and convert it to an iCal file for outlook. I have only tested it on Windows XP and Outlook 2003, but have no reason it would not work other places. I have no problem sharing it with anyone, but I design software for a living and do not want to have to support this. (i.e. use it at your own risk, and please do not ask me to fix anything). The application is pretty simple ... set the input (csv), set the output (ics) and hit convert. Then go into outlook File->Import and Export->Import an iCalendar or vCalendar file and pick the .ics file. If anyone would like the source code (C# / .NET 2.0) send me a messge and I will send it to you. Anyone at BT, The process is quite simple. If you guys want this as a reference for you programmers let me know and you can have it (maybe a little BT hat or shirt as a thank you -- wink wink). I wrote it to convert from the CSV file so it is a little limitied, but your guys could pull the data directly from the DB and make it pretty robust. *** Note *** I will try to attach the .exe file, but not sure if it is allowed by BT. If it isn't there send me a message and I will e-mail it to you. Or better yet, if BT wants to get it from, verify i am not rtrying to spread a virus, and post it that would be even better. Kevin, thanks for the offer but our development schedule is full and we don't have the bandwidth to add this to the queue right now. If anyone uses this, please note that it is not a BT product and we can't support or provide any assistance with it.
