Happy Sunday everyone.

I don't know about the rest of you, but last week absolutely flew by.  I am glad to be back home.

Here's to a great week!

I'm headed to the gym - going to spin (provided the heal holds up without too much discomfort)

I'll post in later :-)

I need to get active on this thread, with ya all.   Great idea!

I lost about 50 pounds (a few years ago) using WW.  I despirately need some kindred souls to journey down this path, again, with.

I lost 3.5 pounds last week but this week (my Birthday week & bananna cake) isn't look'n too promising.  Hope to get on track as my on-line weigh-in is on Mondays.

I ran a 10 mile relay race yesterday and really, really felt the exta weight.  So.......

Hey, WW works!  Hope to give support and get support here.  Again, great thread!  Good luck all.  Keep count'n.

Hi all.   I've been absent for awhile, absent from a lot in general, really.  I have a bad habit of getting involved then becoming invisible.  I've also been struggling with some depression that I'm working on getting help for.  That hasn't helped my weight issue (I'm currently up 10 lbs from my lowest-I am now at 252), but talking about it (writing about it?) generally is a start for me to get moving in the right direction again.

Went to my WW meeting on Saturday...we had a continuation talk on the week prior's topic...going from caterpillar to butterfly.  The biggest thing that struck me is this (I've known this tidbit for a long time, never really thought to apply it to my life, or life in general)...a butterfly has to be allowed to struggle it's way out of the cocoon if it's going to be strong enough to fly.  As well meaning people, we have a tendency to want to cut a few strands to give it an easy way out, when in fact, that is the worst thing we can do.  It is fighting through the "stuff" that allows the butterfly to be strong enough to fly.

Yeah, ok, so that's a bunch of cheesy motivational crap...but true all the same.  Did you ever notice that you are a lot stronger once you've made your way through something without being given an easy way out?   I'm not saying no support, it's always great to have people rooting for you, but your character and resolve is a lot stronger, and it means a lot more when you've paid a price to obtain it.

So, I'll try to be more active.  It's hard because I've been working a lot...I need to stop that because I'm just hurting myself and my training and making myself very tired and it doesn't help with the depression.  I might need some cheering on, though, ok?  Don't we all?

Thanks

peggy

I'd love to join this group......I've been trying to do WW online but have gotten sidetracked by life.

My FIL recently passed away from pancreatic cancer and the illness took its toll on workouts and keeping up with WW. I've gained but I'm prepared to keep working toward my weight loss goals.

Any tips and advice is greatly appreciated!

- 2 pounds this week, in spite of a lousey diet.  Good to be a little lucky sometimes; I suspect the 10 miler this weekend didn't hurt.    Yep, I'm gloating.  I've been struggling too long and feel happy to post a loss two weeks in a row.

Next week, here I come!!!!

Join the bandwagon people!  Let's make the world a lighter place!

Peggy, so good to hear from you!  Believe it or not, I can relate to many of the things you are saying.  Especially the drawing away from people at the times we need them the most.  You are right - sometimes we need to make it through things on our own -

we need to come out on the other side and see the sunshine and know that we made it!

you are strong and you will make it!

we are here for you!

November challenge time?

I know that several of us signed up for the October run challenge and have had a lot of fun!

here's a link to what looks to be the Nov challenge - there have been a few ideas floating around, so, if you've expressed interest in another, you may still want to check out this link - looks like the challenges might be converging :-)

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=93911

if you haven't done a challenge before, this might be the one for you - it's all about setting your own goals -

well, fwiw, check it out

I hope everyone has a great week!

Welcome, noony!  We talked a little bit before Iron Girl.  I remember your posts about your FIL being sick.  So sorry to hear he passed.

I'm still plugging along in the October running challenge.  Exceeded my goal of 35 miles over the weekend.  Have now done over 40!  Considering how to increase my goal, but the next week is going to be crazy for me, so I don't want to commit and then not reach it.  Swim meets for college freshman son (Go Terps!), homecoming for daughter, swim meet for me, etc.  October/November are always crazy around our house -- every waking moment, we're doing something...  but I love the chaos!

Hello everyone.

My name is Kim and I wanted to introduce myself. I'm on weight watchers and over this summer after learning about triathlons from my gym and talking to a friend...I've decided to set my goals on doing a mini and/or sprint next summer. I've already lost 30 lbs since starting WW a while ago, my goal is to lost at least another 50 or so. I love sports and am really excited to have now a purpose to the gym. I will be training instead of just working out.

Since I decided to do a triathlon, the first thing I did was sign up for swimming lessons. I have also been hitting the weights and bike and elliptical. I kind of decided I needed a more formal training program than walking into the gym and doing what felt right, so after digging around many sites, I have decided to use the Beginner Exercise Program on BT to get me ready. I chose this one for three main reasons. The first being that I am just learning how to swim now, and since swimming isn't introduced in the workouts until month 3, it lines up perfectly with the end of my swimming lessons. The second being that it has a low impact focus, which is good for me since I do need to lose weight before doing too much running. I sprained my knee in Feb while training for a 10K race, so I'm hoping the gradual build up and strength training before the introduction of the running will help me get back into a running program at the right pace. And reason number three is that my race is about 8 months away...and it is an 8 month program. Perfect.

Sorry this is so long. I just wanted to give an intro and say hello. I hope to get to know you all and I look forward to posting and losing with you!

I ate and drank too much while in California.  It's hard not to to do so.  Weigh in going to be ugly this week, but I have until Friday to to try lose a few of the extra pounds.

Marathon went well.  Race report will be up tomorrow I hope.

I have a question for you ladies. All the time I have been doing WW, I never got into the habit of eating my APs. I do eat my WPA though. With the increase in exercise I am doing in order to do my days of swimming class/practice + the training program, do you think it would be smart to start eating them? Do you guys find that it adversely affects weight loss and training when you don't? I know I will need to eat more as the program gets more intense, but I am hoping that between now and February, I can still take some serious poundage off (I'm at 242 right now). Thoughts?

ok I have a confession............. this week has just been horrible and so last night at the grocery store I had a meltdown in the candy isle. I bought every kind of sugarfree candy I could find and a huge bag of smarties. DAMN IT I am so mad at myself. I did not eat all of it obviously but now I cannot stop thinking about it. Sugarfree twizzlers are a huge weakness, well any twizzlers but I tried to be good and got the sugarfree ones. They are irresistible to me. So I ate half a bag of the SF twizzlers and like 5 smarties ( 25 cals a roll ) a 100 calorie 3 musketters bar and WW ice cream. It does not sound as bad typed out but I felt out of control. That is a lot of extra ( not written down) points. Ok I guess I feel a little better having told someone. Jana

My current leader said that you should only consume 4 of your APs per day, and only on the day you actually earn them (no rolling over into other days).  However, I've routinely eaten my APs on the day I've earned them or the day after and have still lost weight.  I also eat all my 35 flex points too.  I'm too hungry if I don't.
