January totals:

January's totals:
Bike:10h 27m 44s  - 178.66 Mi
Run:4h 14m 30s  - 10.1 Mi
Softball:1h 00m
Walking:3h 47m 49s

My month times look like some of your weekends.  I guess that's what I get for joining a group of veterans Smile, but that is just what I need; you never improve if you don't compete with/against someone better than you.  Now that I have to wait for exam scores this month, I'll be adding swim workouts, concentrating on nutrition more (eating more lean protiens, cutting back on the Starbucks, tracking water vs soda, etc), and adding two-a-days at least twice per week.

Closing in on Spring...  Woooo Hoooo!

Hehe - that's funny. I didn't expect to win with anything, especially since I only got a few days in. But great job everybody!

Don't worry about it in the least. You have more biking than I do. Plus, you are just beginning and had exams this month. You're doing great and will continue to improve. Keep up the good work.

Here are my totals.

January's totals:
Bike: 4h 40m - 63 Mi
Run: 3h 53m - 18.91 Mi
Strength: 1h 15m
Equestrian: 2h 15m

This was mainly affected by my lack of time due to work. This month is better, and I'll be concentrating on endurance and adding some swims in there beginning tonight.

You're doing great.  All of us are training for different events and require different training plans.  Don't just look at volume.

Hopefully you're not including me as a veteran.  I've only done 3 tri's (2 Sprint & 1 Olympic).  I started training around last May & picked up my first road bike some time in middle to late June.  Good luck with your exams and your training goals.

Sweet! Cool I'm going to keep up with this stuff though.  I might add some plank and leg lifts.  I would not have started any core if it wasn't for this competition.  Thanks for the motivation guys.

BB King and Stevie Ray Vaughn
Sting both during the police days and after
Demon Hunter & Thousand Foot Krutch - most people never have heard of them unless they listen to christian rock

My iPod is pretty diversified, off the top of my head:

Rush, Triumph, Metallica, Van Halen, Journey, Huey Lewis, ZZ Topp - Results of being in Highschool in the '80s

Pink, Katy Perry, Jay Z, Will Smith (with and without Jazzy Jeff), LL Cool J - I like some pop & rap

Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney - I like some of the new country

Candy Dulfer, PM Dawn, Enigma - good for at work for background noise and during the walk portion of the Program

CPA Exam review - Mostly blah, blah, blah - these will be removed after I get some passing scores.

Hey ya'all (Texas lingo) - I just received a email for the Texas Man Sprint race for Amica - they are offering a discount for the sprint - I was planning on doing the OLY distance but with the discount on the Sprint it is $65.00 - who else is planning on doing this - I know we have some out of state-ers so I would not expect them - but was interested in the local - regional people if they are doing this -

I must be the last person on earth that does not own an ipod.....

I do have a small radio that I will occasionally wear when I'm doing a bike workout in the gym.  If I do it would be tuned to a country station, I'm more likely to plug it into the little box on the machine that gives me the audio on one of the TVs so I can catch up on the news.

Prodigy

311

Steve Earle

Dropkick Murphys

Soundgarden

Audioslave

Bad Religion

So, I've always had tight calves...they consistently tighten up as I run.  Well, tonight I was starting on lap 3 around the park where the running path is clear of snow.  I was 1.76 miles into my run tonight before I couldn't stand running on them any more.  Even just standing still it was like having both of my soleus muscles flexed.  I ran at the same park last Saturday when it was a little cooler out and stopped after 4.X without any real soreness, but I'd also done an hour and fifteen minutes of yoga that morning.  Am I going to have to do that every time I want to run?  Anyone ideas on what I can do to cut down on this issue?

First and foremost is Podrunner.  I love it.  DJ Steve Boyett.  Other stuff includes:

Deftones, Metallica, ZZ Top (favorite band), CCR, Tom Petty, Stone Temple Pilots, Green Day, Offspring, Cake.  That's all I can remember at the moment.

If you noticed a difference when doing yoga you might try and stretch really well after you warm up.  I read somewhere that you should not stretch while your muscles are cold.  Just because there is pain in your soleus does not mean that's where the pain originates....  Look up pain patterns and it may help you track down the source of the problem.
