Veteran 193 Long Beach, CA | Subject: RE: Scottt's Group - Closed Nice work Marcia...looks like you'll have a productive weekend. I got in a run this morning just before the rain started. I'll probably rearrange a bit and ride Sun. afternoon instead of Sat. (to avoid the rain) since I have 85 to do. I'm doing a local sprint Sunday morning with my wife. Close to home and not too big (400 people). Should be a fun family activity. Have a great weekend everyone!

Veteran 193 Long Beach, CA | Subject: RE: Scottt's Group - Closed Everyone, I've paired down the group list on my Log page to those 12 that have been at least semi-active. If anyone else comes back to life I'll gladly add them back in. |

That's so cool your wife does this with you! I tried to get hubby involved but he can't swim and knees bother him too much for running. Still working on the cycling!! Of course this might mean I'll have to learn to play volleyball eek! Have a fun day Sunday!! |

Veteran 663 Central Point | Subject: RE: Scottt's Group - Closed Have a great weekend everyone!!! no run today either oh well, I will not miss the gym tomorrow and next week is a fresh start. Good luck on your race Sunday Scott. I'm afraid if my wife joined me she would probably beat me if she survived the swim. She's not a very good swimmer but I know she can run faster/longer then I can currently. The bike might be a toss up. |

New user 18 Southern Oregon | Subject: RE: Scottt's Group - Closed Hope the trip to NZ goes well. I leave for Rotarua and the far northern island next week to see friends and look at a job so have been looking for beaches and pools to swim and have found some wonderful trail runs as well. No bike on this trip. |

Expert 709 | Subject: RE: Scottt's Group - Closed Hey Everybody. Sorry I've been MIA lately. As I stated before I'm going through some serious stuff in my personal life plus the internet ban at work is really not helping me. I plan on catching up on everyone's work and being a better group member. I hope everyone had a great weekend. |

Master 1531 TORONTO | Subject: RE: Scottt's Group - Closed Monday morning.... Weekend didn't go *exactly* as planned... 2.5 hour bike ride turned in to 30 minutes on the trainer and I skipped my tempo run !! I did get a nice swim in though so... and had a good time with the family. Sorry to hear of the personal challenges Jeff! Hope they clear soon. Have a great time in NZ J! Hope the tri went well Scott and I hear ya Shawn re: temperatures. Fortunately it's sunny but Saturday morning was just silly cold here. Hope everyone has a great week! Long weekend coming up for me so going to work really hard and try and get everything in that needs doing! |

Veteran 663 Central Point | Subject: RE: Scottt's Group - Closed Well last week was great to see the kids again but my work outs sure suffered and so did my weight. I'm up 1 to 322 today. This week should be back to normal. Run today at lunch unless I'm buried in paperwork. |

Member 15 | Subject: RE: Scottt's Group - Closed Last week was not too bad, I missed a few swim sessions as getting to the pool, when it is free was proving difficult with my work shifts interfering. I did put in a good few bike rides though at gym and one on the road. I have ordered my trainer for the bike, the cycleops fluid 2 and have started a few swimming lessons for tri athletes hopefully will be able to get to at least half of them. The beginners group where the main sets where 2 x 100 meters with 20 sec rests almost killed me but it was good to be pushed harder than I have swam before.. Found out last week that me and partner have to move to different shift rotations with a 20% pay cut so not sure how that will affect training as we are on different shifts to avoid childcare, so it will be she is on 8 hours and I care for the baby, I work 8 hours then when I get home after commute for 7 hours will have to squeeze in sleep and training. Maybe get a quick session on treadmill if baby naps or something. Although I will have weekends free to do some training also. Edited by jforrest 2010-02-08 12:01 PM |

My wife and I did the same thing working opposite shifts for years to avoid childcare and raise our own kids. It was hard, but somehow we managed. Hope you can still train. I feel spoiled now that my kids are teenagers and almost self sufficient. |

New user 18 Southern Oregon | Subject: RE: Scottt's Group - Closed Hi Guys, In the middle of He-- week with too much work and little time for sleep or training. As much as I hate to will have to back off a bit the decreased sleep takes its toll quickly (read into that old fart). Started running again monday after nearly a month off and as usual overr did it but just sore not injured. Had a great run thru bend oregon on the river. Hoping to get some daily nice easy runs in while in NZ to stay limber and endurance up. Keep up the good work everyone!!! |

Master 1531 TORONTO | Subject: RE: Scottt's Group - Closed kimmax - 2010-02-08 6:38 AM Monday morning.... Hope everyone has a great week! Long weekend coming up for me so going to work really hard and try and get everything in that needs doing! Or.... maybe not! Maybe it's the long weekend approaching that's slowing me down but I'm having a *really* hard time waking up in the mornings and by 8pm there is *NO WAY* I'm getting dressed to drive for a swim so... long weekend might be spent catching up on missed workouts... or not... That's really impressive Alex that you did that swim meet. I wish I had your courage to try things like that. And pretty good results as well!! You should be feeling really good about yourself! Glad to hear you had a great week with the kids Craig - Looks like you are right back on track this week re workouts. Jonathan and Jason too! Great job! Sorry to hear about the shift issues Jonathan but your child will love you for the sacrifice when he/she is older. It all happens so fast so enjoy it while you can! How are you liking the new trainer? Not sure how everyone is doing in the 5-in-5 challenge. The goal was to lose 5 by Feb. 14th and I have to say I'm that while I issued the challenge - I am not doing very well at it! My weight has been stuck at 140 for years and last I checked I was holding firm at 139...which is only 1 pound down.... I don't know why it's so hard to go below that. A good friend told me I just have to accept it - that I'm turning 40 this year, have had a child etc. Muaaaa I don't want to accept it and yet... I guess I'm not really motivated enough to try harder.... I'm still sneaking cheese and after reading a post on this site I dusted off the bread machine and got it working again Hope everyone is faring well! |

Veteran 663 Central Point | Subject: RE: Scottt's Group - Closed I've been doing my running on a treadmill in the office right after I eat a light lunch. Would I be better served to do it the other way around and eat after my run? I don't feel ill or anything just curious if one is better then the other? |

Craig, If you're run is under an hour, do whatever is comfortable for you. It sounds like you are not having issues, so you're OK. Generally (especially as your duration get toward and over an hour) one would be more concerned with re-fueling than pre-fueling and would shift their meal/snack to afterward.
