fungi32 - 2010-02-24 10:38 AM 4 mile run today no foot painSmile

Congrats on the lack of foot pain and good job getting out there and riding.

My daughter's soccer could be over this weekend, so I am looking forward to riding outside on the next few weekends.

I had my longest run in months last night. 9 miles. I talked to a friend, and I think the way I will get ready for this upcoming marathon is to log 3 hour runs on the weekends. I need to get myself up to the point of course, but once I am there, I will just keep at that distance until the race.

Did a 3.5 mile hill workout in icy conditions. Pretty slick after 2 feet of snow.

It seems to only rain here on the weekends. So, I spent all of my time on the trainer. Soccer was cancelled, so I did absolutely nothing but lay around the house all weekend. it was great.

I rode twice for an hour each.

I plan on running today at lunch.

Did 25 laps in the pool today. Felt really good - maybe all of the shoveling built up my arms.

My monthly totals are not nearly as impressive as yours. I will figure it out and post them, shortly

You got your run miles in there. There is plenty of time for your bike and swim to catch up. Those two are the easiest to bump up. It's the running where you can't slack.

Okay people, little help here. I am starting to freak out a scooch. I just looked at my training plan and this is my last week of base building. Monday March 8 begins my 20 week countdown of hard training. Ahhhhh, I havent figured out the nutrition piece yet, havent goten my body fat down to where I would like, and just feel like I am not ready to begin this road just yet. Give me another few weeks. Please Please Please. Oh well, I guess I need to do what they all say on the Ironman Training blogs - HTFU. Here's to the next 20 weeks - I am hoping you all can help me get through it sanely.

Patriot Half Iron in Williamsburg Va. in Sept. is my only A race this year. 1st 1/2 ever, long way out but already stressing a little, I had hoped to really pick up on my run times this year but it really has not happened but I am running a 1/2 marathon the 20th and I know this time last year I could not have done that. I have about 4 weeks until I start my official training for the half but I am getting ready to sign up for a couple sprints and olys just need to figure out were to fit them without wrecking my training.

Fungi - If you are already ready for a half mary this year (when you werent this time last year) you are way ahead of the game. Just use the half mary as a great learning experience and remember how you feel at the end - cause that will be without the swim and bike pain.

Fungi,

If you are doing a half mary on the 20Th, you will be more than ready for the half Iron.

You have plenty of time and a great endurance base, so this race will be a snap.

Scott,

The 30 k will be your longest run, right? If so, take it easy and treat it like a long training run. The last thing you want to do is get yourself so sore that you can't keep training a few days after. But like Fungi's half mary, once you finish the 30k You will be setting yourself up for a great IM

Yes the 30K will be my longest run of this season, actually since the 2008 Philly Marathon. I am planning on using it as a training run, but might have difficulty holding back since last time I did this race I was 5th in my age group. Doubt that will happen again this year though. My training paces are about 1 minute slower than when training in 2004 to qualify for boston.

Did a decent but slow 6 miler tonight in 8:04 pace. Legs were still kinda sluggish from spinning last night.
