Congrats on your HIM! mine is coming up soon...and then the BIG ONE I am also super excited!!!

I e-mailed IM Coz regarding bike mechanics on the course...hydration on the course, etc....I was emailed back within 10min to my surprise assuring me they will have a bike mechanic and plenty of hydration available. I am still going with my own staff just in case...I am really really trying to avoid IV fluids (been there not fun).

I am curious, what are some of the things you guys will be carrying in your special needs bags?..I am still trying to decide though sun chips are definately going into my bike bag along with mosquito repellant for my running bag!

PS....take care of your achilles "eliwashere"

Alicia

Hopefully next weekend I'll be able to start running.

I'm hoping for the same.

I'm at the point where I'm doing a run/walk....or rather, a walk with a little running in it.  Last night I went out for ~40 minutes and did a 4/1 or 3.5/1.5 walk/run ratio & the toe felt decent.  Next time out, I'm going to try to make it half-walk/half-run to see how it holds up.  I'm also trying to do it on ground that's as flat as possible.  I'm being cautious in the hopes I don't re-aggravate the injury.

Maybe a silly question but from the ironman Cozumel site "front wheel has to be of spoke construction, so please take this into consideration to select your racing wheels." does the mean just the 3 spoke wheels are not allowed? Zipp 404 should be fine right?

Hey, those are spokes.  Like you said, there's just 3.

Where are you seeing this?  I can't find this anywhere on the site.

Went for my first 4000 meter swim and century ride this weekend! It gave me the confidence that I might actually be able to finish this IM.

Yay! I am so glad you are running again!! As for me, mine is worse then we initially thought. Full break of the foot, I'm now out of Cozumel Good luck out there everyone!

That sucks about your foot.
I just took 10 days off from running and had lower overall volume. My achilles feels a little better, but I am getting back on the training horse to ramp up again.
A friend is doing the great floridian IM distance next weekend and I sorely want to sign up too.
Getting my motivation back up and looking forward to Cozumel!

Oh the questions are starting to form in my head.  I recently got an aero helmet but immediately noticed it is hotter than my road.  I rode on Thursday with some crosswinds and that got me thinking.  Will the crosswinds and potential heat make wearing an aero helmet inefficient?

Hey All,
How is the training going? Getting closer to the end and starting to perk up again as we near the home stretch.
Was lazy the last two weeks after my HIM and have been bitten by the bug again. Can't wait till my next Race Rehearsal weekend to see where I am.
A couple of friends are doing a Iron distance race this weekend, and I may go to watch to keep up the motivation.
there has been decent winds here recently, so it has been good training on the bike.
Enjoy the training!

Training is coming together.  Nutrition is pretty good on long rides and I am slowly getting the run miles in.  The next 3 weeks is going to be trying to get more run miles in and stay healthly for taper.

Training is going great. I had a great brick this Saturday. 100 mile ride and 7+ mile run. I post poned my long run until today. I decided to have a non IM Sunday and just have fun with my wife. The rest of this week is a bit of a recovery week. I need it!

However, I did miss the majority of college football this weekend. Bummer!

Training is going great so far! considering everything my body is feeling pretty good ;-)

I have had several 80 solo rides and last week I did a solo century, it really was not as bad until mile 85 and for about 5 miles I questioned my sanity several times.  Running 17 tomorrow, swim is okay and still working on my nutrition. Next week I will be doing Miami 70.3 for training...not going crazy out there I just want to see how I feel!

looking forward with great anxiety and happinness for Cozumel!!!

keep on training.....Alicia

Jealous about the 70.3 I wish I had one more, but Miami Man is just a little too close I think.
Ramping my swimming back up and looking forward to the race.

I noticed the same thing at the exact same point on my century. The last 15 miles were really tough mentally! Glad it isnt just me

Sorry about the broken foot... Frown

I have done all my long rides in groups or at least with one other person. I think I will head out alone the week after next to give it a mental workout. We are heading to the Triexperience camp on Thursday in Cozumel. Will be fun to do the routs and meet some more crazy people. Good luck!!

39 Days to Go...

Century bike this weekend and I'm gonna try and run off the bike although it's not planned.  I'm just a bit concerned about how my legs will feel.  I'm getting excited though.  We've only got about 3 more weeks of high volume training.
