Happychick - 2010-03-25 6:43 PM Useless info about to follow:

So, speaking of Draper, you know those mountains that are right there (the Wasatch front, I think?! sorry if that's wrong)? Those are the first mountains I ever saw in my life. (Some life history here...)I grew up in OH, joined the Army and was sent to OK as my first duty station where I met my hubby. When we went to UT and I saw those mts, I was in total awe (and still am to this day when I see them or the Rockies!) I remember staring at them and my hubby asking me what I was staring at. I told him the mts and that "they don't look real. They look like something out of a movie, like they were superimposed or something." To this day, he laughs his arse off when that is brought up!

I've always lived around mountains, Alaska and Utah, so I'm used to them and I laugh when I hear stories like this.  I remember we took a customer from New York on a mountain bike ride.  She had to stop and take a picture of an elevation sign that said 4800 ft above sea level. She said that is the height of the tallest mountain in NY. We were still on the foothills. We didn't make it too far up the trail.  She couldn't handle the altitude.

Pretty funny....  Moments like these make you stop and think about things we just take for granted everyday.

So I've been looking around at some of the old threads hanging around and have a question.  What is Nibbs?  I looked through history and the first reference I could find is Nibbs XIII but couldn't find anything that says what it is.

The bEASTies posting has slowed.  We're about 12 pages ahead. They need to start a new thread but no one has yet.

Cool - I take it the snow cleared out??  We are heading to Denver in 3 weeks so I hope it is sunny and 60 then - Selfish I know!!!

We've gone through all seasons at least once today.  The ground had a dusting of white when I got up.  Then rain melted the snow.  Then the sun came out and I was thinking it would be a nice day for a workout outside.  Then the clouds came back and it started snowing again. Its going to be a wet ride today.

wgraves7582 - 2010-03-26 11:36 AM Howdy Paul btw.  Is your son still doing well I hope??

Son is doing good.  His last blood tests came back normal so he is back to normal diet and activities.  Now he is trying to catch up on the homework before the end of the term next week.  He's been pretty busy.  The challenges he has had over the last three months have been good for him. He's learning a lot.

wgraves7582 - 2010-03-26 11:38 AM I had the best lunch - Fresh Turkey Sandwich and yummy mac-n-cheese!!!

Friday's are my fun eating day

The sandwich sounds tasty but I'm not a big fan of mac-n-cheese.  I haven't decided what I'm doing for lunch today.  Maybe some leftover chicken enchiladas that my wife made.

wgraves7582 - 2010-03-26 5:44 AM So question of the day?

What does Bill pack for a 112+ mile bike ride food wise.

I am making a mid way stop for personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut but will need some snackage along the way.

Oatmeal & Granola to start with and balance bars & bananas but I know I need some glamour food to pull me through!

Well, as you are probably aware, anything longer than two hours, you will need a protein-carb mixture.  I like to alterante this component with diluted gel to help with taste.  With this method, I consume a measured amount every half hour for the entire ride.  Since I'm deficit spending (the American way), it is very important to not fall behind.  I have been able to use this route for up to eight hours and still feel good.  You know my product preferences, so I'm not going to advertise.

Solid food is just a pain in the butt to pack.  However, if I'm on a loop course with a pit area, I like bananas, almonds, cashews, potatoes, english muffins, dried fruit, plain sliced turkey, chicken, or ham, CLIF builder bars....  I'm usually OK with anything plain-jane and stay away from fruits with skins, unless you want to be making pit stops.

Just my two cents.

So basically if you're doing a loop, you just set up a buffet at one point?

Our electricity went out last night.  It's a good thing we were going to BBQ anyway.  We have gotten pretty far ahead on posting!

I did a short run today.  I pushed baby in the running stroller.  He fell asleep.  I may go to the pool this evening.

wgraves7582 - 2010-03-26 5:32 AM I actually got 2 - 2 mile runs in last night and this morning with no leg problems!  Exciting news!

Onward and upward to steady 1-2 weeks of 2 milers and then up to 2.5 - babysteps!

Good for you!  My Friday runs are kinda like that.  I've just recently increased the time to 20 minutes.  If I run to much on consecutive days, I'll end up with shin splints.

Happychick - 2010-03-25 5:35 PM Since there has been talk of facebook, can someone help me find where the hell to find a list of MY friends from my homepage? Since they revamped it I can't find how to get to someone's page who hasn't posted something recently. Now, I know I'm not the most computer/facebook savvy person but COME ON!!

No help here...  I'm still resisting Facebook, Twitter, etc.

x2...this is as close to social networking as I'll get.

Come to think of it...next time someone asks me if I'm on facebook, I'll just reply...

"nope...not on Facebook...but are you on BT?"
That sounds perfect.
