Happy Ghouliversary! Pick your poison in the month of October (Page 10)

Unfortunately this is another drive-by posting. The race was awesome! We had a couple minor problems--like having so many runners that we probably should have closed a couple of intersections due to the length of time needed to get all the runners across. We had an overall increase in the number of runners (participants). The smallest increase was seen in the full marathon, and was a mere 20% increase over last year. The only other issues we had were minor and quirky. Like the guy who lived next to an aid station who decided that he didn't like the runners going by, the aid station or the radio they had playing there. He proceeded to call the police not once, but twice (duh, they were in on it too! That's what the event permits were for), turn on his sprinklers, but only in the parking strip, park 2 cars in the lane we had coned off for runners and in the process physically threatan and make it appear that he was going to run over the volunteers manning the aid station, spray irrigation water on the radio and the cups of water and gatorade, and then stand on the side of the road smoking and blowing smoke into the faces of passing runners. What a lovely guy, huh? Oh, and he proclaimed that he was going to the city council meeting this week, to "take down this race. It WON'T be happening again." Yeah, he didn't show up. The aid station was in front of his next door neighbor's house (they even had the port-a-potties in their driveway, and his neighbor was running the aid station as well. 

We have had so much positive feedback this year! Makes it all worth it!

In other headline news, I got out and walked today. I was going to run, but I was with a friend, and she hadn't recovered from the half mary she did over the weekend yet, so we walked and gabbed.

I know we had talked about doing B2B next year, but since you deferred your marathon I'll get a charity slot and I'll run the NY marathon, too.

Registration opens Nov 1. The half will probably be sold out sometime over the winter.

If you can't run, maybe we can do a relay, or ride a century or something.

I would definitely do an MS ride. Get healthy. We can decide what to do then.
