lisac957 - 2012-08-15 2:53 PM Someone brought a bunch of candy in. Bad, bad news.

yum! candy!

Candy bad. Boo. I love skittles and licorice and sweet tarts. I'm a sugah ho.
*Pull up in a van with no windows, a members only jacket, and aviator shades*Hey....you want some candy
When my daughter was little and she saw one of those vans with no windows she called them "abduction vans". . When her and her friends were walking in the neighborhood I'd pull up along side them and ask if they wanted to see my cute puppy. She'd cringe and her friends looked horrified.
So....one time, my daughter and I were driving through the neighborhood. She saw a kid from her class (and I knew the kid as I do a lot at her school) in his front yard. So she starts "screaming" LANDON! LANDON! I pull up and roll down the window next to him. Mind you, I drive a black pick-up with tinted windows....and the back windows don't roll down. I tell my daughter to climb up in the front seat to say hi. In her fit of excitment, she can't get her seat belt undone yet she's still screaming. So there I am, big black truck...window rolled down calling out to a 6 year old boy to come closer and one kid screaming in the back seat. The mother jumps off the porch and sprints over to Landon and grabs him. Luckly for me, my daughter climbed up into the front seat and Landon said "I know him....it's J's dad". We had a good laugh afterward.....

I had a friend who owned a junky white ford cargo van that he used to carry motorcycles to/from the track.  He had a bumper sticker that said "Don't Laugh, your daughter's inside!"

my gold membership on here expires in 7 days and I am trying to decide if I should re-up eith gold or silver or the free version...

What does the TAN folks use?  gold, silver , bronze or free??

I use the free ... but feel like I should at least do bronze.  I do use the blogs to log stuff and play on the forums.  I should support the site as I do get something out of it.

guess I should also ask what you use for the level you are? Like I use the custom plans, training logs and everything even more than the forums

TriAya - 2012-08-15 3:35 PM I just ate a spoonful of Nutella straight from the jar.
Wash it down with a spoonfull of peanut butter....

+1! I can skip the candy but will assault a jar of peanut butter. My downfall.

A peanut butter and Nutella sammich. So good......

I try to only eat those after something strenuous.....long bike/run, a race, pizza , Wednesdays, etc.....

OK so keep in mind this is the military and we have a rank structure etc. So this morning a commander (0-5) started complaining that the trash needed to be taken out. He told me that I need to find someone to take it out. I told him that I can do it (I am a LT (0-3) ) and his response was "No .. no officer in the military should ever have to take out the trash!" I say ok and then he leaves. I am getting ready to go to the gym so I bag up the trash and throw it out on my way to my truck.

So I get back from the gym and get lectured and actually yelled at for taking out the trash......

really?!?!?! thoughts??

Sure but lets use the reasonable man theory here.
1) I was sitting in the office that needed the trash taken out.
2) The only thing I was doing at the time was eating lunch and cruising TAN
3) I do not believe that I should go "task" someone who is lower ranking with something that I could easily do on my way to the gym
4) The trash got taken out

Sounds like you guys need more to do.

But yes, I agree, him yelling at you for taking out the trash is ridiculous. In fact, HE should've taken out the trash. I wonder what he does when his significant other tells him to take out the trash. My guess it he doesn't tell him or her that no military officer should take out the garbage.

As a former enlisted man I can tell you that no officer I ever had was above doing menial tasks. At the end of the day we did a FOD walk on the tarmac and on top of that swept out the entire hangar (not so bad when you have 32 people doing it), and the officers always helped with all that.

Proving, once again, that the Air Force is the best military service out there. Why? Because our officers will take out the trash!

I wouldn't be surprised if he actually does say this. Some people actually believe they are go amazing just because of their jobs...two quotes come to mind.

"How do you know when you are halfway through a date with a fighter pilot? He says "Ok that is enough of me talking about myself, now you talk about me."

"what is the difference between a fighter pilot and god. God doesn't think he's a fighter pilot"

Back from the gym... had to spend some extra time there today to work off some aggression that I got in the office.... I have the absolute dumbest story from the office.....

Are you going to tell us???

OK so keep in mind this is the military and we have a rank structure etc. So this morning a commander (0-5) started complaining that the trash needed to be taken out. He told me that I need to find someone to take it out. I told him that I can do it (I am a LT (0-3) ) and his response was "No .. no officer in the military should ever have to take out the trash!" I say ok and then he leaves. I am getting ready to go to the gym so I bag up the trash and throw it out on my way to my truck.

So I get back from the gym and get lectured and actually yelled at for taking out the trash......

really?!?!?! thoughts??

Sounds like you guys need more to do.

But yes, I agree, him yelling at you for taking out the trash is ridiculous. In fact, HE should've taken out the trash. I wonder what he does when his significant other tells him to take out the trash. My guess it he doesn't tell him or her that no military officer should take out the garbage.

See that's the best part -- our officers were actually fighter pilots. With a broom in their hands, sweeping out a hangar.

Cool guys. I remember them pretty well -- Col. Denny Swanstrom (also the base commander) and Lt. Col. Darden were always there after post-flight briefings to help sweep and do the FOD walk. I guess I didn't know that wasn't common!

Seems kinda dumb but aren't you supposed to do as you're told in the military?

Nothing wrong with following orders :-)

Yes Ma'am

Welcome back, missed you!

Why thank you. Too kind.

But you're in the Navy, and as we used to say while running, Navy wings are made of lead.

Then again we used to say that Air Force wings were made of gold but the ones I stole from the officers didn't fetch much at the pawn shop, so there goes that BS theory.
