Dear Manatees,

It has been too quiet in here.  Please help entertain me at work.

Love,
Jen

But I'm trying to stay out of trouble! I've already done two stupid things today! Unless you have a hot dumb piglet stashed somewhere--then I'm willing to make it three.

This morning at Masters coach spent a lot of time focusing on kick.  We did pull four times then just kick for about 5 seconds (during which time I made little forward progress), and catch-up drills with a fast kick and some others.  I tried to focus on the back & glute muscles like the video showed. I did notice that I was almost keeping up with a piglet in the next lane! After the drills coach had planned he had us do 8X25 where we focused on streamline.  He wanted us to push off and stay underwater as long as we could (wearing fins).  The first couple of times I floated to the top almost immediately (why aren't I that buoyant when I need to be?) but after that I got the hang of it and was staying under for as long as my lungs could take it! We were using fins.  I could see some of the swimmers doing dolphin kick, I didn't even begin to try that.  Over all a good day at Masters.

Oh at the end of practice Coach Andie asked why I'm not doing the Patriot Tri this weekend. (I'd sent her an e-mail that I could volunteer). I told her that since it's a seeded pool start I didn't like the idea of starting at the back. She said there would be a few people behind me.  Not helpful. DH says it gives me more opportunity to pass people Undecided Still willing to volunteer Smile

That said, volunteering is awesome.

THAT said, volunteering (especially for a sprint) is more tiring than just racing the darn thing.

Actor/actress, piglet/piglette ... it's all the same thing. Piglet is a gender, age, even species neutral term.

That's probably true.  Then to add to that variable, the race location is right next to where my church meets.  Whenever this happens on a Sunday (like this one) i get asked repeatedly at church if I had done the race next door. (I have been known to do a race at that venue then show up for church (wearing a medal (shameless))).

It has been too quiet in here.  Please help entertain me at work.

There is always the number 2 before a race thread to keep you entertained.

I've learned my lesson about reading threads like that.  You've read the "Going on the Bike" thread, yes?

Seriously. Passing out PowerBar has left me sweating through my little yellow shirt, more so than any runs I have done lately.

I can't say why, exactly, but that's just a really hot image.

Somehow I was expecting that response...

I'm thinking right about now Jen is wishing she hadn't asked, after all

It's like the Manatee Radio Rush Hour Show about this time on weekdays!

Nope.  Still glad I asked.  You two entertain me.

Screw the McMillan calculator, I'm using the Paul Ryan calculator for now on:

http://www.paulryantimecalculator.com/

Maybe I'm slow or I missed something in political news, but I don't get it...Embarassed please help.

Paul Ryan said he ran a sub-3 hour marathon and that he'd run several marathons.  In reality, he ran one in a little over 4 hours.  Now we all get to lie about our marathon times the same way.
