Well my train has just left the tracks. Last night my house was hit by a tornado and the back is....well, missing. Everyone is safe but now the rebuild process starts. I will most likely be in a rental house by the end of the week and it looks like our house will be out for 3+ months. I am staying positive through all this and considering it a blessing. I had painting I was putting off and the screen cage had to be fixed as well. The tornado kinda took care of my chores for me DQ your uncles neighborhood was safe from what I can see and have heard. You know it's bad when you walk out front to see the news crews with the state governor, the sheriff, police chief, and mayor in your yard coming to shake your hand and talk to you.

Keep on keeping on folks. Stay strong with the workouts and I will try to stay updated as much as I can with limited computer access until we get in the rental.

I'm glad your all safe. That has to be the best excuse for missing training and getting out of chores. Tornado, damn that's nasty.

Goals for the week of 1/11

1) 4 workouts
2) 2 swims
3) at least 1 morning workout on a weekday. I have a serious problem waking up but once I get my heavy training underway I'm going to need to start setting that alarm for 4:30 or 5:00 again so might as well ease back into it
4) research local bike fitters and make an appointment. I have some discomfort while riding the bike I purchased couple months ago and keep procrastinating on getting a proper fit and ensuring I'm good to go before heading into my larger training block this year.

Reward: either a trip to the one place to get good craft beer here or some bourbon on Sunday.

Hmm, the mobile app must not post your sig. Sorry about that!

My goals are the same as last week:
1) Lose 2 pounds (may be tough with our anniversary and my daughter's birthday party this week).
2) Run 3x. At least one needs to be in the morning.
3) Bike 2x.

I'm back from my vacation (did not have internet connection) geez you guys have been busy, a lot of catching up to do.

I also went to the doctor today. He thinks that my foot problem should be solved with special inlay soles. Apparently because I have pretty flat feet my nerves leading up to my toes might get too much pressure from running.
I'll have to go to the specialist on the 22nd to get measured up for the soles. after that I can go running again at normal intensity.

If work permits I'll do my first swim session of the year tomorrow.

Brought back the following beers from vacation:
Seef <- I really like this one
Rodenback

Alex--that sucks! I'm glad that you are all safe and sound and wish you speedy home repairs!

#14--3mi run this morning with the pup. It was COLD (12F with wind), and I was not all about it this morning, but it is in the books. I sure to miss those 50-60F days we were having just two weeks ago!

#15--2100 yds swim at lunch.

Goals for the week:
1.) 4 runs, 3 swims, 3 bikes
2.) yoga 3x
3.) log food every day

Last week I was mostly successful, I logged food, lost 10# (mostly water and salt, I'd expect), but only got in 2 yogas. So, CLP for me. Ugh. Now I have to go to the store and buy Coors Light.

I must have not read the fine print - do I really have to drink Coors Light if I miss a goal?

When our local pizza joint opened up a few years ago, they were waiting on their license to sell liquor, beer, and wine.  Although they could not sell beer, they could give it away.  Unfortunately, the free beer was Coors Light.  After drinking one, I spent the next few weeks buying iced tea instead of drinking free "beer."

13/24 with my Noon, 3600 yd swim.

Why do you think we hit our goals in this group?!?!?! The consequences of not doing so are DIRE!

Oh...and it is supposed to be warm when you do it. DQ carries a warm, several year old CL in his gym bag to remind him of the consequences of failing to perform (which takes it to a whole nother level if you ask me!).

Feeling good today.

I got to the gym at work to do my run and all of the treadmills were taken with a group waiting. So I threw on some layers and headed outside. Other than a little crying from the lack of sunglasses it was great! I kept a 20 minute goal but did 9:1, 4:1, 5 - so dropped one walk cycle.

I feel so invigorated!

7/24.

Weekly goals are going to be short this week as I have 2 travel days and a team dinner another night.

I'm going to gun for 4 workouts. Including 1 swim.

I am really struggling on my 2 pounds. Any tips? I eat really healthy almost always. These 5 are always really stubborn (since I gain and drop them basically every year :-)

YEP that's how we do

9/24 got in a good gym workout today plan on a run and swim tomorrow. My goal for the week is to finish my 10k and half, and to get in at least 1 more workout while I am in CA. The wife has decided to travel with me so I got her a plane ticket and need to get her tickets for Disneyland. I have decided I can not have pre workout stuff. I am too sensitive to caffeine. I have a headache and feel twitchy even 2 hours after my workout.

Yuck!  So does the CLP require one nasty beer or do I have to replace good beer with Coors Light all week?  Either way, I'm going to get in another workout today to avoid a CLP next week.

Hi Matt- I asked a co-worker who just got back from an ex-pat stint and he said this is the go to guy. (So of course research- but he comes highly recommended).

True Story! The beer in there is at least two years old - It's a silver bullet and it's been in my workout bag to remind me to never quit. I have told myself that I will drink it if I ever quit a race without giving it my all. Just this summer - that skunked can helped me battle through heat stroke... As bad as this sounds (and it really was a little stupid) I never even thought about quitting despite being extremely dehydrated.

Coors light is powerful stuff!

Depends on the penalty or the amount of motivation you need.... and really up to you. But I usually think of it as a one and done kind of thing.

Good job getting in a double workout!

Thanks Kate! I do recall them in my initial search but if I recall the location wasn't great for me. But greatly appreciate a recommendation so will bump them back to the top of the list.

Gretchen and Kate,
I can't believe the weather you are having to run in. Great job getting it done. I haven't felt 12F in a couple years now, definitely before I started exercising, and not sure I could do it!

I'm getting pumped. I started taking advil for my shoulder and it's help reduce the pain. I'm hoping that if I keep it up all week, it will let me get back into the pool next week. I'm also starting to think I need to go hard tomorrow morning with a Freeze by butt off brick. I was thinking of doing 20 hard minutes on the bike and then running 3 out in the cold. It'll be snowing so that will add to the fun!

I'm creating a list of 2016 BDAS members on my training log. I'm gonna add 5 each night so be sure to check there to make sure I got all of your info connect. If not - let me know!

Thanks everyone for continuing to post about tri and beer/wine/booze. I'm drinking an Over Easy by Otter Creek and looking forward to tonight's national Championship game. Who do you think will win?

I was just on the phone with my lovely wife and asked her to pick up a six-pack of Coors Light.  "Are you serious?!?" was her response.  I hope to have 5 of them left at the end of the year.

9/24 - 20 min pool swim. 600 m ( i think..or yards...i forget what the pool is measured in) This is where I need to keep working at.

10/24 - 45 min ride on the bike on the trainer....still trying to figure out the computer so only cadence readout....no speed....le sigh.

Tomorrow is a 3 mile run. I think that I might even brave the cold...lol. 5K this weekend so might as well keep on running in the cold to stay used to it.

No it was like C4 or something. I took it before lifting. I def do not do caffeine before I do cardio.

NAME: Lindsey

STORY: in June of 2015 I was in a serious car accident and broke my collarbone followed by the loss of grandmother. It was a tough week but it was eye opening. I realized how I was taking advantage of having full functionality of my body by just lounging around drinking beer after work. And ever since I realized it, it was a turning point for me. I couldn't wait to go run and ride my bike. The road to recovery has been very difficult but I have been back into running longer distances since being able to be fully active again. Unfortunately, I still have trouble lifting my ridiculously heavy mountain bike over my head to mount on my car so I've been focused on running since September. I am hoping to become a stronger cyclist and swimmer but am lost in what and where to start. Hoping to finish a couple triathlons this year.

FAMILY STATUS: partnered myself up with a roadie and we are going to try and find a few relays (if anyone is interested in swimming with us let me know)

CURRENT TRAINING: running after work 3x a week, getting into my first spin classes this month but nervous about what to expect. Also weight training and core training 3x a week

2015 RACES: RTB Hampton beach, multiple local 5ks

The Plan for 2016: TD five boro bike tour in nyc, RTB cape cod, RTB Hamptob beach, looking for some local sprint tris and relays

BEER/WINE/BOOZE PREFERENCE: lakefront brewery fixed gear/pino Grigio/gin

WEIGHT LOSS: hoping to just tighten up and get in better shape

WHAT WILL MAKE ME A GOOD BDAS MEMBER: I like to drink beer, run, and ride. I'm a good motivator and helps out in anyway if I can. Also I love beer and always looking to adventure and explore. Looking to learn and teach in anyway I can! Looking forward to this journey and adventure!

Cheers! ??

Workout Did 6 miles on the dreadmill and during the run I think I had a very very slight hyperextension. Now my left knee hurts a little bit. I'm icing it and took an Advil. Tomorrow is still a gym day, so I may be doing some biking that I wasn't expecting to do. I'll find something to keep everything moving. On the upside, I found an indoor track at a nearby YMCA so I can hit that if I want to be a wimp and avoid cold weather running.

Goals After the weigh in today I'm down 2.5 from last Monday so I'm on target for my 5 lb loss goal for the month.

Why am I going to keep going this week? CLP Doug CLP. It's an incredible motivator.
