I am here!  Billy, will let you know, may have to get special permission as this was only for the masters class (but coach is great and extremely helpful).  But I saw on your blog you got video'ed also, how did it go?

Ran 1 hr today and beat my 10k PR, now to just do it during a race.  Didn't push hard, that just what my natural pace is at the current time.  Looks like next week is a swim week and the plan calls for me to swim every day.  Not sure I that will happen but will get close.

Diane - how did the USAC test go?  As for the swim video, I believe that at $20-$50 it would have been worth it.  One hour of a coach reviewing your technique with you on video is probably worth 2-3 lessons.

Going to add a 3 hr ride every other week starting in Feb.  Did find that there were a couple of 2.5 hr rides planned so will just up those.

FBP - great news on the Mrs.....

Gary - our eyes are really opened by reality....perception is SOOOOO different

Diane - hope the test went wellllllll......

Mav - did you get mad and leave when I called you "mom"

Folks up north - be careful out there -- I found out this week that a college fraternity brother of mine died when he fell through ice while walking across a frozen pond with his 10 year old son.  What's unique about Robin is that he has battled Juvenile Diabetes and some really bad complications, Leukemia - bone marrow transplant was successful, and another Cancer - currently in remission --- and then this happened.  His son ran to get help but they didn't get back in time - so sad.  Please join me in prayers for the boy.  I am sure he needs all the help he can get.

Time to go train

Thanks on the video option.  If it happens it would be great, if not it wasn't meant to be.  I just got my wife to video so I could see my kick and stroke.  Ugly, but not as ugly as I thought it would be.  My coach has given me pointers to correct the problems.  Will work on those.

Just finished my bike ride for the day, 30 miles averaging 21 mph (without an Ipod!).  Really starting to like the bike.  I guess I need to post pictures of it for y'all to see.

Good to have all of you back.  Oh, by the way, the foot is doing well, not bothering on the bike and of course not in the swim.

It was a good course, they are trying to get more cycling races here in Las Vegas, so we had a promoter there. Pretty cool seeing things from his perspective. There were about 8 people in the class, but it was advertised 8-6, I didn't get home til 9pm! The course was taught by former Olympic & World Champion Officials - they were AWESOME!

The test was HARD, but I did well, and everyone passed. It was open book, so that helped... but it was fill in the blanks - which I hate!

If you ever get a chance to take the course, I would encourage you to do so... I learned a lot about cycling, the different types of races, different sets of rules for each type of race, safety, safety, safety, etc...

Did a 30 mile ride today, but SLOW...  didn't think I was going THAT slow, but oh well... 20 of the 30 miles was with a group and the first 10 miles of that was with beginners, so we stopped a lot and went as slow as we could to keep the group together as much as possible.

no workouts this weekend... does chasing a 3 yr old down a ski slope count for anything?

Also... first time in a pool in a long time, albeit with the kids. its time to get serious soon.

Chasing a 3 year old anywhere is considered a workout.  Since you did it on a ski slope, I would consider that a "Brick" workout.

Sorry be be MIA for so long.  Now that the Colts don't have anymore home games, my weekends will open up.

Go Colts!

I'm a Colts fan too!  I have to say that's one of the best things about moving here from the Cleveland area.  I was never a Browns fan, since I grew up near Pittsburg, but NFL football here is worth watching.  I will, however, always be an Ohio State fan, no matter how long we live in Indiana.

Sorry I haven't been posting as much as I'd like.  I've been doing most of my computer "stuff" from my phone, and my phone just doesn't like this site for some reason.

The good news is that I've spent a lot of that time working out.  I got in a great 2 hour brick on Saturday, and two, one-hour workouts yesterday.  I used my aerobars for the first time yesterday, and it was quite an eye-opener.  I thought my weight loss efforts were going pretty well, but having my gut get squashed every pedal stoke reminds me that I have more to go!

Wish me luck on getting this bike fitted just right.  I don't seem to have the patience!

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the mascot for Ohio State a "buckeye"?  I guess that makes you a nut!!!!!!!!!  Southern Miss to the Top

Amy, Amy, Amy......That's ok, I like the Saints too but still think the boy is blue will do it this year.

The Buckeye might be a nut but their football team is just as tough.   11-2 is pretty good.

Just to be sure, after you got your aerobars you were refitted on your bike?  When got my clip ons I ended up switching to a shorter stem and the shop readjusting my seat.

Nancy - Gary makes a good point - you might want to have your LBS take a look at setup.

Ironman January Challenge - where is everybody on this one....anyone "done"?

SuperBowl - seems like we have a little challenge coming up for February.....how about two "teams" - those of you who are serious pick your teams and assuming we have about 8-10 regulars we should be able to get teams of 3-5 to battle in February for most training miles.....swim, bike and/or run.....we will give swimming miles more points that running or biking since we could all use help swimming and we will give running more points that biking....I will work on that......our two volunteer "Quarterbacks" will track their teams "honor" system totals and we will start out with Feb 1 - Feb 15....and subject to my total whim....we will decide whether to go through the end of the month.  Who's in???  Who wants to "Quarterback"?  I am sure there will be some bet for the quarterbacks.....like a shaved head.....or wearing a pink tutu for a workout and posting video.....you know.....smack talk time......go for it.......who dat horseshoe?????

Guess I wont finish my Ironman distance in January due to the stress fracture, but I am still logging miles in the pool and on the bike.

If someone needs an injured reserve on the superbowl challenge, I am game.  I can log a bunch of miles for someones team.

I think Gary would be a great quarterback, and I would be honored to be on his team if he would draft me.

Bryan, I'm more than done with biking, have 500 meters to go swimming - should do more than that tomorrow... no running for me...As for the Feb Challenge, Maybe Billy & I should be on separate teams as neither of us are running.
