Wow, I was "missing" for 10 days and there are 10 pages of notes to read through. Both Mav and Gary "inspired" me to get my a$$ back and get in the challenge. Well I am back and ready to make John thankful for selecting me! Unfortunately, I will not likely be able to train much next weekend due to making a bowling tournament in Cleveland. We are staying at some cheap hotel and not like they have workout facility. However, I will promise you 10 miles of swimming, 30 miles of running and 150 miles of biking. I know Mav can do that in 1 week, so we will really need some help

Nancy, thanks for the swim tip. I haven't counted my strokes in a long time and will start doing so soon. Also, it looks like we are doing the same race in Sept. It is my goal to do the Rev3 HIM in Sept!

I will be back more often - promise!

Funny, your log only show 14,500meters which would be 9.06 miles?

For my team, we need a name.  Not sure how want to track distances.  We can just use the BT monthly total (every one will need to make sure their distances are entered and I can collect) or we can use a Google spreadsheet.  Just let me know.  Can you send a PM to multiple people?

Don't forget I quit running 2 weeks ago.

Little note for all of you,  my daughters husband is in Iraq, she spends a lot of time on a blog for army wives.  I have asked her why she waste so much time on the site with people that she doesn't even know.  She says we all have something in common and enjoy talking, so , I said whatever.  Of course that was before y'all.  Now I understand.  Thanks for your encouragement and guidance.  More people on this site have asked about my foot than at my office.  Just wanted yall to know that I appreciate it very much.. Now, to show my appreciation, I am officially giving the jslacker group the entire month of February off, NO WORKOUTS AT ALL, congratulations.

Your friend Billy

You have to love the smack talk already!Yell

Yes, very happy to have Dan even if he is an MSU guy!  4 out of the 6 of us are from the midwest and Big Ten country.  Dan, just make sure you stay ahead of Mav.

Billy, I think you need to stay off that foot completely.  for at least 17 more days.  No training whatsoever.

Good luck everyone!

OK, Ok, I was in a minor car accident last night (yes it was my fault) and that must be the reason I added a zero to my swimming (or thinking I was Mav!). Gary was right, I swam 9.06 miles this month and commit to 10 miles for Feb. (not 100!).

I finished my run this morning to hit all goals for the January Ironman Challenge.

Dan,

Glad you are alright.  You better be.  You are going to be my workhorse.  100 miles swimming would be awesome!  Cool.

But I'll take 10.

Dan - glad you are okay.  BTW, Mav swims 90 miles as her warm up.

Fighting off a cold.  So far it is just a head cold so will continue my workouts but scale them back.  May switch my Sunday SRD to tomorrow to give me a little rest time.

Can't wait for the competition to start!  I am determined to do well in my first HIM and this will help.  Go Team!!!!

BTW,

Who Dat!!!

Quick couple of questions for all of you about Infinit:
are their premixed formulas good? I'm thinking about getting a Marathon Mix and a Recovery Mix.

My marathon training mileage is up to 10 this week and will be escalating 2-3 miles per week, since i only have till May 1. I compared the Half-Marathon and Marathon mixes, and the Marathon one is about 30-40 calories more and has more electrolytes, so it seems to me that it'd be a good fit for those long runs. Yes?

And Recovery mix, well, any recovery, right? I'd probably take it for hour plus workouts and after bricks. Right now, I'm using Endurox R4 (Recovery).

I know you can make up your own formula, but i think i'd like to talk to them on the phone first about that...

any thoughts?

Lena, I have only use the Infinit using my own mixture.  Taste was good, fairly mild.  I might up the taste just a tad next time, after drinking Gatorade or Powerade it seems kinda light.

Well swam today but bailed my run tonight.  Actually felt better after the swim but it's wet and rainy out and just feel tired.  Will sleep in tomorrow and that should hopefully do it for me.

First, one more ride today and my Jan numbers are done.  I already met the challenge numbers though.

Gary's team, you have two assignments:

1.  Suggest a team name.  Billy has done this and I need suggestions from all!
2.  This will be like the football game pregame show where they show individual pics.  I want each of you to take a pic of you running or biking or Swimming in a silly hat/outfit.  Post those pics.  If you are not comfortable posting a pic of yourself then one of your pet, spouse, favorite coffee mug with a silly hat or outfit on.
2a. (yes too lazy to change two to three) make sure you post your workouts on your BT blog.  If you post them someplace else please let me know.

Posting my totals for the January challenge:
Bike-83 miles
Run-46 miles
Swim-4206.24 M

Fell short on the bike oh well, this month will get 'em! I was hoping to go ride tomorrow, before church, but I'm not feeling too hot today, so this is it for the month.

you guys totally crack me up....I love this....smackdown before it even starts

Dan - glad you are OK - I do like this sand bagging.....lulling that other team into a false send of complacency....

Lena - Infinit - Recovery drink is awesome...fruit punch is great.  I customed the other but you don't really need to at first.  Debbie used their half marathon formula and it was great.  The custom stuff is just a tweak here and there for you personally.  Go for it....see how you like it.  I like the orange flavor too.

You all KICKED BUTT in January....what a great job!!!!!!!  I am so proud......it is amazing what you can accomplish when you put your mind to it.....okay....tell the truth ---- how many of you thought.....dude, I don't know if I can do that much?????

Ahmm... I did. With having Lukas, I did nothing the entire pregnancy and 8 months after (well, with a small exception of one month of September when I did a HM), so over a year and a half of absolutely no activity. I didn't know how my shin would act and how far I could go, but I have to say, it's been a great ride so far! With John's help with running and everybody's encouragement in general, these goals have been FUN to fight for I feel very lucky to be in your group Can't wait to kick butt this month!

I have added the teams to the first page in case you forget whose team you are on.....

By the way, if we inadvertently left anyone off it was totally unintentional and we want you to play.....just call us out on it and we will get you on a team.....we want everyone to play......

Buehler.......Leston.......Buehler......Leston.......
