I got my MDOT tattoo today. Nothing fancy. I couldn't be any happier. Here it is:

Noah's MDOT Tattoo

...P.S. That is my cat's toy behind my foot.

I like yours, too, Jillian!

I'm thinking about getting one, too.  I was going to after FL last year, but just never did, now I'm thinking about it again ~ we'll see

Well I'm finally getting around to posting here since the race. People at work asked me how it was and I kept saying it was the most fun I ever had and the most physically punishing thing I've ever done. I just wanted to thank everyone here for the posts, advice and support over the last 6 plus months. Everything I read helped me get through some of the lows of the day. That said I made it through with a time of 12:06. Beat my goal time by almost two hours so I'm ecstatic with the result. I finally managed to get my race report typed up and posted if anybody is interested.Congrats to everyone that gave their all on Sunday. Even you fell short of completion you still deserve a big congrats fro persevering the months of training and dedication.Peter B

Great ink, Sam, Noah, and Jillian!  I'm going for the red m-dot sometime this weekend since it's my birthday, too.  I might get "140.6" underneath so I can later "scratch" in the number of times I do a full IM (not that I have any immediate plans for the future right now).  But I'll have to see how $ it all is.  Triathlon on a budget:  That's me ;-

Back teaching this week along with my regular work, and I feel like I do after all the fun leading up to the holidays.  It comes and goes quickly, it seems, even thought it's taken months of training.

Here is mine.  It's above my right ankle.  Like most, I went simple.  Plans to add to it later.  Would like to do something like the barb wire or tribal wrap around, but with crosses and the Christian fish symbol.

Nice Tatt's everyone! I'm holding off until the wife and I get back from our cruise. We leave for a 7 day cruise Sept. 10th. Tattoos come with restrictions for several weeks, and I don't want to have to worry about it on our vacation. However, I will get mine shortly after our return. I've been doing some research to see what I want. I'll add a pic once I get it.

Plan for next YEAR?

Oh man... I don't know.  I'm seriously considering signing up for Beach 2 Battleship FULL for THIS October.  I want a better run split and I'm trained for it!

Then I've got a 50k in December...

Next year I'm doing Eagleman 70.3 in June and deciding between IMKY 2012 (I know, I know) and IMCOZ 2012 (t-giving weekend in Mexico!).

Or, if I do B2B, maybe no IM next year and then a couple 70.3s...

Only 40 or so slots left for B2B full.  Save $50 if you sign before 9/1.  I just signed up, I'm getting back on the horse.

That's awesome! Glad to hear it. Good luck and I can't wait to hear how it goes.

I finally got my race report up.  I am still at my parents and they have terribly slow internet connection.  I love the reports and tattoos.

Gobey--Stay the course, buddy.  I enjoyed talking with you and seeing you around town all weekend.  Good things are in your future.

Congrats to all those who finished and to those that didn't, you did more than 95% of those out there by simply getting to the start line and for that my hat's off to you!

My goal was for 13 hours and I hit 12:37 and felt great enough to sprint across the finish and was ready to sign up for the next one right away.

I love everyone's tats and was planning on getting one this week. However, it looks like my sadistic side has convinced myself to sign up for the Branson Half Ironman in a couple of weeks and I'm taking a week off to go surf in San Diego so it will have to wait.

Best of luck to everyone in their next races for this season or for the one next year.

I'm taking a week off to go surf in San Diego.

Looks like surf is going to be up!  Swimming at the Cove on Friday night if you're interested.

I wanted to thank all of you for all of the posts over the last few months.  Just last September I completed my first sprint triathlon and just finished IMLOU in 12:49.  I though the journey was an incredible experience including the training, race and of course the tips, suggestions and comments of all of you.

Thanks again.

Well my decision of if IM Augusta 70.3 was too soon after Louisville was made for me.  Sold Out last night!  Ugh, nothing like a race selling out to make you want to do it even more...

I still haven't got back to training yet. Going to the beach with the family tomorrow. Might do something on Saturday, but can't swim for 2 week because of my tattoo.

My race report is up now. It is pretty bare bones compared to what I intend to supply for my blog & book, but it's up.

I'm more interested in reading your reports, so I'm off to do that.

If you want to check mine out, here is the link. Peace.

OH I FORGOT!

Here is a video of the race. My daughter took the video. Please be forgiving. Much of it is random, so you might see yourself or somebody you know. (Road to Ironman Louisville, Episode 18).

Hi, all!  Like Sam, I just put up my race report, too, and it's longer than I thought it would be.  Still, I didn't want to forget any of it.  This was definitely the hardest single day event I've ever done.  I have really appreciated chatting with y'all in this forum and have benefited so much from all the advice.   I'm glad I had the brief opportunity to meet a few of you down in Lou'ville, as well.

Be sure to relax and make LOTS of extra time for family and your significant other!

The triathlete's benediction:  May the wind be ever at your back, your water bottles ice cold, and your smile always beaming ... er ... that is, for the first lap, at least.

Hi all,

I'm trying to decide on 2012 races now. I'm considering Ironman Texas 140.6 on May 19th and then either Ironman Racine (WI) 70.3 on July 15th or Ironman Steelhead (Benton Harbor, MI) on August 19th.

What are your thoughts?

I'd love to hear about everyone's plans for 2012! Share away...Smile

-Noah
