No one made a new thread for 2011 yet?  Racelink doesn't seem to think so...

I'll be back for my 2nd year.  Hoping for a better run.

Hi, as a KY veteran, what can you tell us about the bike and run courses (we are 70.3 racers, never did a full IM before)

Hi there,

Here is some info on the course - My watched ran out of batteries towards the end of my run in this year's race and never set the watch to split the events (all together).

Garmin stats

I never switch
The bike course is rolling terrain and there are plenty!of hills that by the time you get done it beats the crap out of your legs. There were some spots out there this year in the bike course that the temp was around 105 not including the heat index.

The run course is flat with only some minor rises but nothing major. A lot of the course is not shaded so the sun does beat down on you pretty good. It was hot, humid this year.
The bike course had sufficient aid stations as well as the run course. The run course had an aid station every mile.

Hope this helps.

SO!

I am on the fence. I am afraid of the non-wetsuit swim. How is the swim? water real deep? etc? Is the bike harder than Wisconsin?

Any input would be great.

I haven't done it yet but I did bike about 50 miles of it last year when I was there to volunteer and it is def. hard.  Now, I am a pretty crappy cyclist to begin with but doing that 50 miles really put some fear in me...but not so much that I didn't register anyway.

I am planning on the Muncie Indiana HIM in early July.  Before that I am going to do the Knoxville REV3 HIM or Oly in May.  I think the Louisville is going to be a real challenge with the probable heat that time of year.
Good luck to you.

Probably won't be doing any HIM's. Several Olympics in the summer and a couple of half marathons in the spring, but no HIM's.  Just aren't many to choose from in my area that work with my schedule.
