Had a 14 point swim this morning.  It would take me two weeks to get enough miles to earn 14 points running!!

I'm 34.  And I seriously had to stop and do the math to remember if I'm 34 or 35.  Sigh.

Hey all!

Mav - thanks for the info on the bento, will pick one up.

I want to get a RoadID but have you folks seen the thread in Tri Talk about it?  Several first responders on there and will probably go with a dog tag style around my neck based upon their input.  Name, contact info, meds, donor, etc.

Also, everyone have an ICE entry on their cell phone?  I should post this question on that thread to see if that is helpful.  For my DS' cell phone we have that.

Billy - 47 but 48 for USAT this year.  Nice swim, you are definitely faster than me swimming and biking!

Swimmermama - nice job!!!!! Go Team _______ Go!

Walker - you out there?

Freddy - how goes the workouts?

Team ________  please make sure that you are posting your distances on your Blog.

On the chain cleaner I like the spray stuff to get the tough to reach spots and blow junk out.

Okay, Team Stealth?  Team Speedo's (reference to all the swimming we do), Team "Watch Mav blow us all out of the water".  Suggest names or I am picking one tonight!

Gary, I have read the threads about the road ID. I love the one on my ankle. I never feel it; I would not like something hanging around my neck while I am SBR.

As far as cell phones go I think it is a waste of time. When I crashed on my bike last year I had my cell in my back pocket. I went over the bars and although I landed on my face, my cellphone was toast. I could get it to work, but only if I opened a certain way! ICE would have been little use. I was with friends when the accident occured but I was on my own when the ambulance took me away. I did not have Road ID( at that time...I do now). I cant tell you how hard it was to answer insurance questions, next of kin, address etc. I had a broken jaw and I had split open my chin. If I had a road ID I could have just told them to go to a computer and get all my data and call my husband. Once they give you drugs your info isnt likely to be accurate either!!!I got SO many bills from the hospital because my insurance info wasnt accurate. I would strongly encourage everyone to have some version of Road ID.

Team names...I will leave the decision up to you Gary

Im the eldest here...You have to listen to me!!!! Right Dan????

Mav, could I ask for your recommendations on good sunglasses?

Also, Road ID. Don't have it, will get it. Are they all the same, technically, or is there a site/brand you'd recommend? If you are happy with it and it works, I'd just get it

I am in the last year of my 4th decade - I turn 50 in October.

I've had a decent week of workouts so far:

Monday - 30 min bike trainer, 750m swim; Tuesday - 800m swim; Wednesday - nothing to report (I was guest presenter at a "Healthy Active Living Champions" function over the lunch hour); Thursday - 900m swim

Sunglasses - good subject!  My opthamologist suggested that I get "goggle" type sunglasses for bike riding as the wind is affecting my dry eyes. If anyone has suggestions on this it's appreciated. Currently, I'm wearing awesome (although not in style) sunglasses - they have variable light shading (Photochromic), polarized, and vented. Like I said, only problem is the wind.

Lena I wear Oakley half jackets. I live near an Oakley outlet so they are less expensive and you can get different color lenses. I change out the lenses depending on the conditions. They are pricey. You can often get Oakley, Rudy Project and Smith at Sierra Trading Post .com for rather cheap. They are all good brands. Check out the gear reviews on BT for other ideas. I think the most important thing is that you get glasses that fit your face and surround your eye so that bugs sand and pebbles cant get in!!!

Road ID is the name of the company. Just google it and you can see your options.

Happy Birthday You are a baby

I have the Road ID on my running shoes, but haven't dealt with the bike yet.  I do think it is pretty important.
My husband was riding along a few years ago and a car decided to speed up to get around him and then made a sudden right hand turn right in front of him.  He went flying over the hood, did a flip in the air, and landed right on his back.  He was able to talk when the ambulance got there, but it could have been awful.  And, it was at the beginning of a two-hour ride, so I wouldn't have missed him for hours.

He ended up being in pretty good shape. His back was nothing but road rash, and he tore through all of his clothes as he skidded to a stop, but was back out on the road in a few weeks.  I, on the other hand, still remember the whole incident pretty vividly and get nervous on main roads as a result.

Look for on-line codes before you order the Road ID.  Don't put it off, but don't pay retail either.  Just about every race has a coupon, and you can search on-line for coupon codes.  I found a ton for $1 and a few for $2 off $10.  They expire, so just search when you're ready to order.

I'm going to a Ladies Night tonight at our local bike shop.  It's supposed to be the basics of bicycle repair, and not just a sales pitch.  We'll see!!

Can I brag on myself a little? Sure I can, its my computer and you don't know where I live so you can't take it away from me, of course you could just stop reading but I don't think you will because y'all love me.

I had my annual company physical Tuesday.  I never have looked forward to this in the past but this year was different.  I actually was excited (except for the finger, you guys know what I mean).  I started working out in January of 2009, weighted 229 pounds, but was still in fairly good condition, just no stamina.  I couldn't wait to see how much my work had paid off.  Well here it is.

Last year I had the lungs of a 32 year old, this year 21 year old.  Unbelievable!!!!
The nurse called me 3 or 4 hours after drawing my blood work, not a good sign right? Wrong! She wanted to talk to me about my cholestrol, it was below the bottom of the normal range for someone my age. I asked if that was bad, she said, "I've just never had to make this call before, keep doing what you are doing".  Again, unbelievable!!!!  My weight, 190.4, down 38.6 pounds, whose your daddy??  So next I did what any dollar consience male would do, I called my life insurance agent and requested a reduction in my premiums based on my current condition.  Took out the policy in 2002, basically 7 years ago.  They reduced my premiums by 20% unfricking believable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I done now.  Gotta go swim.

Just swinging by.  Ordered the dog tag version of the roadid.  Reason for that is a couple of months ago one of the swimmers had heart problems, luckily they could get info for him.  I thought having something I could swim with also would be good.  This way I am just going to put it on and forget it.  Just wear it all the time.  Found an online place that had coupons and saved a buck.

Back later!

Billy that is AWESOME!!!!  You should brag about that!!

About the "finger" I just laugh!  Women have to go through so much @#$% that I think it's so funny when a guy gets the dreaded finger when he has a physical!!!  So thanks for the laugh!!

But really that's great what your training has done for you!  I'm glad you shared! Smile

Ain't life fun.  DW is trying to fly back and as usual she is having flight issues.  She should never travel as she always has flight problems.   Meanwhile Dad is getting DD to gymnastics while helping DW with homework, etc.  Home dinner (thank goodness for a microwave), kids getting baths, horses still not fed but dogs are fed so making progress.  Wouldn't trade it for the world.

Billy - nice job on the physical, not sure what you mean about the finger (turns and coughs ;>.  Very good to hear you are healthy.

Team name - Loving the Tri Life (or LTL)  - Let me know if you can't live with that

Taking today as an SRD, full brick for tomorrow but not sure how I will get it done with everything going on.
