Bill - well done!!

Caught much of Oprah's show last evening because I had heard that it was all about the diabetes epidemic. VERY VERY sobering. As Mav said, what we are doing by being active is a gift to ourselves and to our loved ones!

I turn 51 this year but I look a lot older than Mav.....

RoadID is a brand.  A very good brand.  You can get dog tag (not for me), wrist, shoe or ankle.  The dog tag would not be effective if you are laying face down on the road (they won't roll you over.  I went with the ankle but the wrist would work too.  I couldn't do the shoe because of riding in my cycle shoes....wouldn't have it.  I also have contact info in my saddle bag of my bike and in my amphipod belt that I wear when I run.  ICE is on the phone in the event it survives the fall.  Also I use "here I am" an Iphone app that sends an email to Deb with my GPS coordinates overlaid on a Google Map.  When I am on long rides or runs, she almost always knows my routes and I shoot here the "Here I am" from time to time.  At least it is a starting point.  There are some apps that would continuously track your phones location but that is a little "big brother" for me.

Lena - I clean the chain .... um.... not enough....well, I do it about every 4-5 rides so maybe that is enough - and/or before all organized rides or big group rides - I can't like like a Fred....The chain cleaning simple green is not very diluted but it needs some water or it is sticky and that attracts dirt.  As soon as you clean the chain and dry it with an old towel (on the bike for normal maintenance), slowly back pedal putting a drop of lube on each link, then continue back pedaling slowly to be sure to coat the chain nicely.  I probably put a little extra lube on the chain but that is okay (some may drip off overnight so leave an old rag), then the next morning, before your ride, back pedal thru the towel again wiping off all excess lube.....and presto - beautiful, clean shiny chain.  Backpedalling is accomplished with the back wheel on or off the ground - if you go slowly you should have no problems with your chain and the bike won't move.

Today my husband ( who quit smoking 3 months ago!) and I signed up for 8 weeks with a personal trainer with the goal of improving core strength. I need to do this for my back. Now that he has caught the fitness bug ...it should be fun.

about that physical thing.....just a couple of weeks away for me....I get the finger, I get the "lift and cough command" and then I finish with the 50 year old birthday gift of a colonoscopy....YIPPEE!!!!  Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner.  That said, we have NOTHING to say with what the women we love endure....just can't imagine....

Prior to getting your RoadID, at least put a card on your person somewhere.

Gary - I am laughing at your lame name game...keep it up....you are cracking me up with these LOSER names....LOL....no help from your team....woww.....okay, I am just busting your chops....but they are NO help.....how about A Man and His Troops.....Or Cajun Gary and the Pips.....or The Saints - nuf said!.....or Mav's Marauders (I know she is not the captain but Gary's Marauders wasn't as good and I thought you all would be offended by Gary's Grunts).  Or maybe even Can't Top This.....

John - here are my weekly totals through today:  Swim - 1500 plus 1200 plus 1000 yards, 4 miles of running and 16 miles of biking so far.....will let you know tomorrow and Sunday.....We should have totals posted for week one no later than Monday evening - that way if someone works out on Sunday night it would count for week 1.

Scoring change - not for this one but if we do the 2nd two week challenge - I am going to change the scoring -- I will explain it later and in detail but if you have other suggestions I would love to hear them.

Something really cool - the author of the book on first time IM at AZ last year sent me a 5 second clip of my IM finish - it is short...I watched it about 20 times in a row, teared up and felt really good about myself for the day....

BRYAN IS ALWAYS RIGHT....BRYAN IS ALWAYS RIGHT....BRYANN IS ALWAYS RIGHT!!!!

What does this mean? I was chatting with Bryan yesterday about my IM fears ( yes they have already begun). More like "what if fears". What if I get kicked in the face on the swim?...what if I puke on the run?...what if I flat twice?..what if, what if???????.
The answer is : YOU RACE YOUR RACE. Training is done , hay is in the barn, execute and control the things you can. The reality is I have never had a "bad" race. Some of my friends refer to me as the "queen of overpreparedness". I am always ready for my races, but I needed Bryan to tell me this. I have had "what if" issues when I did my first sprint, oly, IM relay, HIM and now I am having them for the IM. Normal stuff for me...and alot of others. I just needed Bryan to remind me of this.Cool

Just remember I was a software developer, hmmm tomorrow could be 10,000 mile run at a record 4,532 mph according to "the Garmin". LOL!!!  It's amazing what you can accomplish with a little hacking effort.

Freddy - you stated you did 30 minutes on the trainer, can you give me a distance or avg MPH?  Otherwise I will use the spinner formula LRR mentioned.

I have everyone's distances from LTL and will update tomorrow night.  Wow, some serious swimming this week!  Go Team, our running miles didn't do to well but we expected that with two folks on the IR from running.  But biking did quite well.  I am scheduled for a 1.5 hr run tomorrow, perfect timing for both the contest and my first race on the 20th (10k).  10k PR here I come!

Got to sleep by 10:30 last night, got up at 8:30.  Man I feel better.  One more night of that I am will be ready to go!

John - did you get my week's workout from the forum yesterday?  Here is today's numbers:  32 mile ride and a 4 mile run.  I will let you know totals tomorrow afternoon for tomorrow's workout.

Mav's "concerns" are not unusual - we all have them.  I know I certainly did prior to IMAZ and every other time I raced at a new distance.  So below are my answers to Mav's thoughts....

What if I get kicked in the face on the swim?...you may have a black eye or a bloody nose but you will keep swimming.

what if I puke on the run?...you will have a really bad taste in your mouth when you start drinking the chicken broth.

what if I flat twice?....you will fix two flats

what if, what if???????.  I will, I will.

Bryan, Yes, I got your totals

Thanks.

Just waiting for Sunday to finish out so that I can total them all up.  Everyone has done outstanding.

Lena did 14 miles yesterday.  Went from not running at all to that.  Even on a treadmill.  Way to go girl!

My totals are final for this week.  Off to a Super Bowl party tonight.

Don't miss my massive 16 minutes of rowing in the Sports catagory (or the 1:20 of strength!)

Here's to a great game, and a great training week next week!
