m55morris - 2009-06-11 11:58 PM Just saw the photos taken by the race photogs.  I luck horrid in most of them. There is one of them that I luck half way ok in as I leave the transition area but I am going to have to love the photo to buy it for 24 bucks.

I feel like all of my race photos are bad.

I've bought one photo in the 4 years I've been racing.  It was taken after the Marine Corps Marathon and I'm standing in front of the Iwo Jima monument with my medal.  So cool and worth the crazy price.

I swam in my wetsuit for the first time tonight...felt like I was zooming (or maybe Zooting :-) across the water.  A little nervous, but pretty excited too.

I think I'm ready to buy my first wetsuit.  My next triathlon will probably not be wetsuit legal but incase it is, I want to be ready.  Anyone have suggestions?

I bought 5 from Trisports.com and will return the other 4 (not cheap shipping wise, but i'd have to travel otherwise and that wouldn't be any cheaper).  The one I found I like the most was a Zoot Synergy.  They were all similar though, just some were less comfortable in one area or another.  I think you really need to try them on to find the best fit for your build.  IN general I found the Nineteen ran the narrowest in the torso, the BlueSeventy the largest overall, the Synergy was narrower in the shoulders, and the Zoots were tightest in the arms.  They all fit per the size charts.  Good luck!

Oh, you do get one free 20 minute swim and can still return it if you buy from Trisports.com.

Just got signed up for my next tri.  It is a bit longer than my first one, an extra 100 yards on the swim and an extra 2 miles on the bike. My goal is to equal my time for my first tri or do better.  It should be possible if I actually swim like I know how to.  Also I found a new wetsuit that actually fits for $90. It is an ultrajohn sleeveless, zippers on the calves, is a must have for me.  It is still a bit snug but is going to be a huge upgrade to swimming cold water without one.

Huge night for me on my long training run.  I did my longest distance run of the season at 7.64 miles and all at sub 10 minute miles.  Total time of 1:16:16.  I have been able to hold sub 10 minute miles for my short runs but to do it on my long run is a huge break through for me.  It is really giving me confidence to shoot for sub nine minute miles in my 5k times.  I know those are really fast times for a good endurance athletes but really good improvements for me.

WOW!! Awesome job Micah! I definitely think you can do a 9+ pace for a 5K based on this new breakthrough. Hopefully, you are feeling good and not hurtin' too bad after the run. This is what endurance is all about and I know how excited and happy you are to see improvements in your training...way to go!

Finally got that first tri under my belt...oh what a feeling!!  It was SO much fun!

All except for around mile 2 of the run when a minivan smashed into a motorcycle less than 10 yards behind us!  Ran back to lend assistance, but luckily there was a nurse practitioner spectator who took charge, so I helped settle the rider and as an ambulance was coming, got back out on the run soon.   The rider was conscious, motorcycle a wreck, minivan driver an emotional wreck, but the rider will likely be ok (never know).  Freaky!   We think the minivan was trying to turn quickly and carefully in between runners and was so busy watching the runners that she just didn't notice the motorcycle.

Next is shower, nap, and spend the rest of our anniversary with my husband.

My wife finally made me go through my closet and get rid of my over sized close.  I got into tri training to lose weight and become healthier and overall that is happening.  I have been walking around with diaper butt for the last month or so according to wife, so she made be promise to go through the closet when summer hit.  So tonight was the night.  I ended up having to pack up 1/2 of the clothes.  The coolest thing was that I was able to fit into size XL and a few Large shirts.  Considering I was wearing 3XL this last spring, it is a huge difference for me.  I still don't believe I can fit into them, but I guess I do.  I still got to work on the mental part of all this.  Just sharing to share I guess and to pad my post count

Thanks, and I hope that is the last time I get that kind of excitement!

I just signed up for a sprint next month that I will do alone and hopefully have a better idea of what my times are like.  (this one I hung with my training partner throughout)  I have also convinced my darling husband to do one in relay with me next month as well, i'll swim, he'll bike, i'll run.....should be really fun and we are making a family vacation out of it.

Also, signed the whole family up for the Muddy Monster in October, a 5K for hubby and I, 1 mile for 10 yr old Emily, and 1/4 mile little monster dash for the 2 6 yr olds and the 4 yr old.  My 10 yr old says she wants to do a tri next summer...I am SO excited.  Being one who came from a very sedentary family and have battled obesity my whole life, mostly unsuccessfully, I so want my children to have a healthy lifestyle.  Emily enjoys running and biking and is on our local swim team, so should be a good match.

Have a great weekend all, and Happy Father's Day Micah.

firstteeth...I love that you are involving your family and inspiring your kids to get more active. Kids are as much a product of what they see you do as they are genetics (or so I believe) so you are setting and AWESOME example for them. Plus the family vaca part sounds so fun!!

Happy Father's Day weekend to everyone (and happy day to Micah)!

How is everyone doing? Any good races this past weekend?

I was supposed to race this coming weekend on a relay team but our swimmer came down with strep throat and we can't find anyone to fill in. I was pretty bummed but the race director is letting us move our entry to the July race and I will volunteer at the race this weekend instead.

Have a good week everyone!

I am volunteering at a race this weekend as the run captain.  So, I coordinate all the running course volunteers, help setup on Saturday, mark the course, etc.  It's going to be a lot of work!!

Hi Gang!!!
Thanks for stopping by my log.
Sorry I haven't been around nearly as much as I would have liked to have been.
I promise I will catch up with each and everyone of you while I'm down.
Obviously right now I can't really train, so I just as soon push all of you to do your best
Things got WAY OUT OF CONTROL for me this past spring. Work got overwhelming and personal life kept me just TOO busy (we didn't even plant our garden until Memorial Day weekend - and there are STILL things I haven't planted yet )

Hopefully everyone across the country is drying out and enjoying sunshine!!!!

Get those 6yo's in swim lessons this year (if you haven't already) and all three of them could do a tri next year.  We had a 5yo (he'll be 6 in July) do the club tri last weekend.  He may have been behind the pack the whole time, but he certainly had the BIGGEST smile of anyone there.  His mom commented on Tues that he still had his race t-shirt on.

Kid's tri'ing is a GREAT thing indeed!!!
