I added 13 today in my sprint tri. I haven't updated the spreadsheet yet because I'm waiting on the splits to be posted for the exact distance. It was a great race. I won my age group and beat my time from last year. Yay!!!!

Well, I knew things were going a little too well with my training this month. Today was supposed to be my first outdoor ride and while I succeded in getting outside, my ride only lasted .13 miles...

I had just gotten clipped in a rolling when I heard and felt a large pop followed by all the tension coming out of my pedals. I instantly knew what had happened and my glace back confirmed my fears. My chain had not only come off the cog but had completely split and was laying like a tail behind my bike! OOPS. My chain not only broke, but the link that broke is bent beyond repair. Darn!!!

So, now that I'm locked on base due to an exercise next week and even worse the gym is going to be closed for the same exercise I'm going to be without any running, swimming, and worst of all, no biking until next Saturday.

Luckily I think I've built up enough of a cushion in miles that the five days (and only 2 maybe 3 actual missed bike workouts) shouldn't effect my goal of 250.

Nevermind. I just took a link out of my chain so now I'll just have to be careful I don't get to the far gears. It'll be a bike trainer week for me.

At least you kept the rubber side down! Could have been a very nasty situation. Enjoy the trainer until you can get a new chain.

Wow, bet that got your adrenaline flowing!

Glad that you didn't get hurt when it happened!

When I was a kid, the chain on my bike broke. I landed on my face. A visit to the ER and some stitches later, I was good to go again. (At least, I thought so. Not sure that my mom agreed. LOL) Hm, I wonder what happened to that bike.

I see you found a fix around it. (Your next post.) Be careful though!

PeepSqueek's

A good week on the bike although not as many miles as I wanted to get in but I am cutting back a little bit for a race this coming weekend.  I got in 5 rides, one was indoors, and totalled 105 miles in a little over 5 and a half hours.  Two good rides this weekend in beautiful weather.  I am going to miss this place when I get to Cincinnati where they had snow this weekend I believe.  Have a great week everyone and keep on pedalling.

I rode into work today knowing that every 15 mins count towards my goal of 14 hours total this month.  I know I still have a long way to go so I'm going to keep pedaling... go go PeepSqueeks!!

Hey, PeepSqueeks! I haven't forgotten about cycling. I do have a big 65 miler scheduled for Thursday. I am a little concerned with Easter and Spring Break on the horizon. But worst case scenario will be lots of time on the trainer. It will be a challenge to get all 300 miles done before the end of the month. But that's the name of the game! Keep pedaling!

What's up PeepSqueeks!
Just checking in, no I'n not dead, just too busy at work and I caught a little virus that I'm recovering from.  Still have 13 days left to get in 8.5 hours of riding so I should be ok.

On-out

Hi Peeps!

This is a travel week for me. Therefore, there's no biking. But I'd planned that into my monthly goal. (That's why my current percentage looks high.) I'll be back next week, and I'm on track to hit 100%.

Just looked at the spreadsheet, and saw some awesome numbers in there! Great job!

I'm in the same boat, Pam... My kids are on Spring Break this week, and my logs show the impact on my training! Maybe it's for the best, though, since I've also got some sort of a sore throat, congestion, cold-type thing goin' on this week, too. I'm afraid I'm gonna have to put in some big miles next week to make up for time off this week.

I saw PEEPS in the supermarket yesterday. I had SUCH an urge to buy a package of 'em. LOL

My brain kept saying, "They're just overpriced marshmallows." But the other part of my brain replied, "Yes, but they're PEEPS."

Yes, I resisted. Basically, I just kept walking until they were out of sight.

I got in 61 miles today. And it was windy. Very, very windy. My friend and I almost got blown over twice. We had a head wind for the last 45 minutes of the ride and it was rough. But we will be stronger for our efforts. This puts me at 75 percent of goal and is all the cycling I have for the week. Next week is spring break so I will have to get creative (or brain dead on the trainer) to get the miles in. Keep pedaling, PeepSqueeks. We are almost there!

I've got some kind of flu bug and ended up doing nothing yesterday.  Still trying to decide whether I will make it out the door today for a run and/or ride.

A friend sent me some Easter cartoons/photos and a couple are worth sharing....
