Spokes - 2008-09-29 9:13 PM Speaking of travel, I leave for Disneyland 3 weeks from Thursday, and we're looking into packages for Honolulu over Thanksgiving or Mexico instead... my passport came in the mail a couple of weeks ago. Never had one before.

Disneyland with the kids (or just you two big kids?!  )?

Congrats on the passport.  I have traveled to a few places (8 other countries) and even lived overseas for short periods, but I also have traveled a lot in the U.S.  I dunno, I learned a lot from traveling abroad but I also think our country is so big with so very many things to see and do... and most people see very little of it.  Kinda makes me sad on some level.  OK, now I need to think how many states I've been to... and survey says??  29, I think.

That always surprises me about people... I cant imagine life without a passport!

This is assuming the whole world doesn't collapse into an economic depression in the next few months...

I see you are taking the positive side!

barqhead - 2008-09-29 8:52 PM That would be weird. Why can't his girlfriend crash on the couch at his parents'? The parents are in-house to "bush patrol". I can see not staying in the same room, but the same house? Sheesh. If the parents are that against it, maybe they should pay to put her up somewhere (not your house).

His parents are super conservative.  They don't know that his brother and fiance are living together and we're not allowed to mention it.  It's a strange situation.  Personally, I think if he wants her to come so much, he should put her up in a hotel or something.  He's too cheap.

When I was in Uni my Mum made my boyfriend sleep in the lounge when he came to stay... I had no issues with it...

But if the parents are uncomfortable, well its their house and their rules... I like your suggestion Jen. If he wants her there, he should put her up somewhere else.

This morning's breakfast consisted of hammer gel, nerds and water.  I rushed out the door and had to make due with what was in the car.  It is great fuel for an early morning lap swim and full day of school.

Speaking of economics...

I just want to make it known that today I had to break the unfortunate news to BoyToy that I had less than a quarter tank of gas.  Significant since we could use a quarter of a tank just sitting in line for gas.

He left one hour ago in search of gas.  Anyone want to take guesses as to what time he'll be back?  Keep in mind he'll have to find a gas station that has gas and then wait in line.

As a side note, he tried to get gas in his car on the way home from work.  Passed the one station that's had gas consistently but has had big lines.  One of the employees that has been directing traffic (I kid you not, they have cops and employees dealing with the traffic problems because this is at a major intersection and traffic is backing up in two directions since they have two entrances) had a sign stating "NO GAS".  OK, so why were the people sitting in line?  He said easily 30-40 cars there.

They are waiting for the truck to arrive. Boy Toy asked, "will it arrive tonight?"  Employee's response?  "We really don't know..."

I filled up a week ago today, had to drive to the middle of nowhere for gas, and thought surely by the next time I need gas this will be a non-issue.

Blah, blah, blah.

He left at 10 PM to find gas?

Hm. We have no problem here. Well, not much of a problem, anyway.

That's annoying.  Right now you can get regular unleaded or diesel here.  No midgrade or premium.  It's not a problem for me now, but I'm hoping it doesn't get any worse.

Well @#$. The internet ate the message that I just submitted. I don't even get a double post, to help my post count....

Basically, I said something like:

Why does she need to stay with you? I agree, if she wants to be there, she should get her own hotel room. It doesn't need to be a 4-star hotel, Motel 6 is just fine. (Besides, what if you and hubby wake up and decide to have cheesecake at 3 AM?)

I didn't sit and think out how I would fit enough swim workouts in to get 8000 meters.  Between school, both jobs, business trips, family health issues, etc  I haven't had much time to hit the pools.  The week I had time I came down with a nasty virus-it was like having a sinus infection and the flu at the same time.  I still have lingering congestion.  bleck.
