Hi all!  Great progress for so many!  Sorry I have been very MIA lately.  Im back, and feeling mostly better.  I feel like I will be able to contribute now.

I finished repainting my Aero helmet, so i'll post up a pic later today.

Sorry for double posting today, but I just had to take this chance to boast about my assessment yesterday. Since I started working out about 4 months ago, I have lost 7 lbs (I now weigh 113 lbs), have lost about 4" in my waist bringing my waist to hip ratio down to .75 from .82. As my trainer put it yesterday - I am now "normal". LOL... I am now only 3 lbs away from my target weight.

I am just so happy about my progress, I had to get it out of my system. Sorry for sounding a little self-absorbed here.

Hope everyone has a great workout day today.

Just got a trainer ride in (I love "working" from home). Working on drinking water - I never do well with that when I'm at home.

I may be a bit AWOL over the next couple days - have a cross-country business trip that I'm doing in about 2 days. Ick!

Wow Lina, that's great! I'd love to get back into the 11x's. But, that would take much more dedication then I'm putting forth right now.

David, on the trainer I have downloaded several workouts. I can't just sit and spin with no workout goal in mind. Some are spinervals tapes I had that I just wrote out the workout, others I got from my cycling club, others from google-ing. The variety helps me pass the time. I do that, I watch TV and when I'm really ADD I do a workout, watch tv and have my mp3 player in one ear. I need lots of distraction on the trainer

Steve and Susan - I hope you both feel better soon!

There must be something in the water today, I woke up early and had a terrible swim. I felt like I wasn't moving at all so I cut it short. Congrats on sticking it out Brandt, you gave it more then I did! I want to try masters swim also, but it's pricey here and I can't justify the extra costs, especially not in this economy. One day I will bite the bullet and do it.

Marcy, I'm jealous of your new schedule! I would love to get out of here at 4, my nights are so much later then I like them to be now, but by the time I drive to the gym, workout and get home, it's 8:00-8:30 before I eat dinner which I know is not good for me. Our office is moving soon, so then my commute will be shorter so at least I have a light at the end of the tunnel.

Well I had a mixed training day today.

On the plus side I had my first session with the Masters swim class. Wow what a difference that makes. The other day I struggled to get thru 1500M by myself, tonight I was able to do 3000m no sweat, just following the coaches instructions. not to mention that the pool water was 10,000 time better than the water at the gym. The water there tastes as salty as an ocean, I swear they haven't cleaned it in like 5 months or something. It's gross.

But on the down side, I didn't get up early enough in order to do my planned strength training this morning. I told myself I would do it after my swim tonight, but sure enough when I was done I just skipped it. I need to plan a little bit better.

OK good night all.

::Great Job Lina!!!!::

Good Morning all!

First day in the new place.  I did end up staying last night and getting most of my stuff unpacked.  I now have a managers cube which is much bigger than I used to have, it even has a chair...not that anyone comes to visit me

Today's morning routine was much better too as Steve got up after I gort dressed.  His new routine will be to get up with me and after I leave shower and get dressed.  Today, for the first time this week, seemed normal, and I liked it!

I am going to get my run on tonight when I get home.  It is supposed to be in the 70's!  Maybe get back to yoga class tonight, we'll see how that goes.

Have a teriffic Thursday everyone!!

You and me both.  In fact, I'd have to chop off a limb or two.    (I'm 5'10".   Good for you Lina... enjoy your success and keep on going!

May be I should have mentioned how short I am when I mentioned my weight. I am 5' tall (or short, depending on which way you look at it). I would do anything to be 5'10", but unfortunately I think that ship has sailed. Frown

Yesterday, I got 400 Yds. of swim in and a 30 min run/walk. I also got my brand new trainer yesterday (a christmas and anniversary gift from hubby dear). So, even though my legs were killing me, I had to hop on it even if it was only for 5 mins. Loved it, loved it, loved it. Can't wait to get on it again this Sunday.

Today is a rest day.

With my first tri coming up in a week, I am doing a trial run of the tri with my trainer tomorrow morning (6:45 AM - hopefully I can get up that early). Since its a short tri, we should be able to wrap it up in a little over an hour. So, here's my question for all you guys - What do you guys recommend for nutrition/food today? I am not very good with the whole food thing, but am trying to get better about it, if for nothing else, at least to keep my workouts stronger.

Thanks - Lina.

Hi Lina,  I think foer those deistances, you really do not have to do anything different today.  Make sure you are well hydrated.  I would also stay away from heave foods that tems to take a long time to digest.  Lean protien like chicken or pasta would be good.

Remember, it'a all about having fun!

Happy Thursday all - it's almost the weekend!

Today I managed to sleep through my trainer ride. And then my work alarm. And then the snooze alarm. And then I ran around like a mad woman trying to get ready for work, shower and all in 15 minutes. Does that count for 15 minutes of cardio? So, tonight if my knees permit me I will do my scheduled 3 mile run and then do my trainer ride after that. I'll skip the strength I was going to do tonight because I'm still sore from Tuesday and I want a shot at a decent swim tomorrow.

Lina, I'm a shortie too. A little taller then you, but not much. I've measured 5'3" a few times, but mostly I'm about 5'2". My dream was to be 5'6" but I never made it .

Question for anyone who knows: I have a marathon in a bit over a week (next Sunday). I trained really super well until December 13th when I skipped my long run for an aqua run (did 2 hours in the water instead of 3 hours on land) and all my subsequent runs the next week with aqua jogging due to the possibility of a stress fracture. A stress fracture was ruled out and I continued right back training until New Year's Eve. Then I got that crud going around and haven't been right since. I tried a 10 miler this weekend which was miserable and ended up at 9-something. I haven't run since. Am I in big trouble for this marathon or was I close enough when I got sick that it might help my taper? I guess I'm really nervous because my last 2 long runs were horrible. The first was due to weather (cold and raining hard for 15 miles), the second my knee started bugging plus I was still pretty sick. I'm still not well, but I'm really trying to get my last few runs in. Any advise/words of encouragement/words of doom? Thanks!

Morning, all!

Congrats Lina! (And I'm short too...5'4)

Erin - no words of advice - sorry, but good luck & sorry for all the junk that's happened at the end of your training!

I'm on a quick business trip to the west coast (like 1 night in a hotel quick) which is why I'm up at 5:15 am waiting for the sun to come up so I can go for a run...red-eye home tonight. UGH.

It's FRIDAY!!  We made it kids.  Everyone take a nice deep cleansing breath!

I was VERY VERY happy with my run last night.  Really makes me think that if I ran with ANY consistency I would be pretty good.

Tomorrow, we are going to trail run.  I have not done that in a long time.  Given the fact that I am generally a pretty clumsy person it may be interesting.

I was a little disappointed yesterday.  I looked at the results from the last 2 LoneStar HIM's to see what it might take to qualify for HalfMax.  Damn there are some fast old fat women out there.  The same woman who womam who won both years ran a 1:28 half marathon.  If my butt were on fire I could not run that fast.  Her time last year was 5:28, 5:31 the year before.  2nd place was 6:13, still out of my range.  Does not mean I am not going to go in there and try.  You never know who will show up on race day.

Other than that, all is well.  The new morning routine is getting better since Steve is getting up with me now.  And I really am liking getting home at 4:30.  It was great being able to run outside last night and not be in the dark.

That is all...I now return you to your regularly scheduled program

Erin,  What are your goals for the marathon? Is it to finish or PR?  My only opinion is that it is really early in the season, and there will be a lot of other oportunities to do a marathon.  If there is any chance that you could injure yourself, I would thik twice about it.

Hi Marcy, it's really to finish, but if I PR that'd be great, if I don't it's not the end of the world. I've only run one before and my time is attainable. I feel much better about the marathon today after finally having a good run yesterday. I went to the specialist today and he said injury-wise I'm ok to run. My foot is fine and he's not worried about me doing any damage to it. I'm just scared since I missed all of my short runs for the last 2 weeks that I'm in trouble.

There must have been something in the air last night, I had a great run too. First good run since the year started. Marcy - 1:28 for a half is crazy fast! But you're right, you never know who will show up. Maybe this year she will be on to different races. Best of luck! Good luck on the trail run. I enjoy them but do them sparingly because I'm a klutz. So, they've been off limits during my marathon training

I'm not better, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, so I hit the gym.  I just walked on mill... didn't even consider speeding up past 4.  And I'm such a strength training addict:  I hadn't planned on doing it, but I couldn't stay away.   I just looked at myself and felt flab coming back to I hit some of the big muscles in 20 minutes.  I needed to do at least a little something.   Then I had a protein shake and went to get the munchkins.  I'm glad I went.  I'll have to take it easy for a while, but it's much better than doing NOTHING.

Without a doubt the hardest interval set yet...

10min wu
4x5min @ 95-102% max watts on 2 min rest
12min @ 82-87% max watts
10min cd

Funny, the 4x5 min seemed not too bad, but that 12 min steady state hurt.   By the end I felt shaky and actually a little nauseous.

Must go eat and watch football now
