Lemont,
Subject: RE: Ironman Wisconsin : Official Thread
I was also a bit of a slacker this winter but I'm full steam ahead now.  Started week 4 of my plan this morning and am glad to have taken some time off of structured workouts.

I'm racing Racine 70.3 and that's probably it.  Much like LisaC I cannot afford to spend more time and money racing!

I am planning a training weekend in Madison to practice on the course the first weekend in June and then maybe again mid-August.  I think I'll benefit more from riding the course than racing elsewhere.

I'm doing an Oly in Muncie, IN on 6/12, a HIM on the same  course on 7/10 and would like to come up and ride part of  the course at least once.  Was going to do the Triterium, but I too need to save money where I can and stick to my training plan on the weekends.

I'm doing the Chisago Lakes HIM in Chisago City, MN on July 25th - other than that, being from Omaha, I'd really like to make it out to Madison for at least one training ride.  I'm tentatively planning on attending the free training weekend put on by Break Through Multisport on May 28-30 out in Madison.  Is anyone else thinking about this weekend?  Did anyone do it last year?  As a refresher - the website is http://www.breakthroughmultisport.com/FreeBrickWeekend.html

I'm signed up for Chisago, as well. Very flat bike, so a relatively fast course (and the swim seemed a little short last year, too). Haven't done the training weekend, but the price looks right.

I'm also doing Eagleman and it's my birthday weekend! Officially entering a new AG I am registered for New Orleans but decided to drop out when they pulled Tribike Transport out. The mounting costs just weren't worth it and much like others have said, the racing really adds up. I'm doing IMLP in July and IMWI, then it's going to be the most blissful, long offseason of my life.

First race is in 47 days, Lonestar 70.3.  Then its time to get ready for the High Cliff HIM and Racine 70.3.  Figure I need as many prep events as possible.  Also doing Dairyland for fun.  Would love to connect with some of you when you are in town.

Spring is in the air! More posts in the last few days than previous months. Time to get outside where training was meant to be done.

maura9900 - 2010-03-08 3:09 PM I was a serious slacker this winter, so my long ride right now is almost 16 miles It felt amazing! My legs need some more strength on the hills. What half-iron distance races is everyone doing? All this sunshine is making me want to start registering for races, but I'm not sure which ones. Last year, my Ironman was the ONLY triathlon I did all season, but this year will be different. I LOVE to race!

You still have plenty of time to get ready.  I'm doing the Muncie Endurathon as my half.  I was thinking about doing Racine, but Muncie is cheaper and also isn't as big a draft fest.

Another High Cliff 1/2 person. I may do the Green Bay sprint a few weeks before that, but that's probably going to be a day before or day of decision. Last year I woke up the morning of the race, looked out the window and went back to sleep. Low 50's and pouring rain is not fun race conditions. I do enough training in poor weather that I don't need to subject myself to it for a C race.

After High Cliff I have nothing planned, but there is a local Oly and Sprint I may do over the summer.

Yes Green Bay has had a little of everything and last year was freezing but I signed up for the sprint again. That has been my kick off the new season race. Hope to see you there

KCarlson, welcome to the madness.

Just looked at the calendar and I'll be out of town the weekend of Green Bay. Oh well.

I'm thinking about doing the Oshkosh Oly on August 8th.

I've had some IT band issues but after 3 weeks of graston, ice, and very little running it appears to be on the mend so I am one happy camper.  My "long" run is up to 50 minutes pain free.

I can't wait for that first long ride outdoors.  The 2-2.5 hour trainer rides are getting old.
