I'm glad you guys liked the video.  I know it's been posted a lot, but thought a few people may not have seen it.   I thought it hit a little too close to home.

I just got back from stinking up Rocket City Marathon.  UGH.  Gels and gu's are just not for me.  Horrible stomach cramps and some offerings on the course.  Still managed to get second AG.  If I hadn't thrown up, I'd have gotten first.  Oh well. .... Next time.

Off just running and onto getting on the bike and the dreaded pool.

Welcome to all those who just signed up.  It's going to be fun!!!   "this is fun for me!"

Nancy

Hunting season finally drew to a close this past Saturday in PA. Spent way too much time in the woods chasing whitetail and not enough time training for anything.

Today starts the pre-plan base building and of course they are calling for 6 - 10 inches of snow. Looks like I have a date with the bike trainer and tv tonight.

I registered for Ironman Louisville last night. This will be my first Full IM ...let the training begin!

Reuben,

Have you done the RAIN before? I was debating it for 2011 as a good long ride prep for the IM. Not sure how well supported it is or anything though.

No I havent done the RAIN before so I'm not sure of the support. The people I know who have done it usually have had their own support vehicle giving them water or food at preplanned spots along the route so theyve provided a lot of thier own support. Like yourself, I'll be using it as long ride prep also. I havent actually signed up for it yet, I'll probably wait closer to time to see how my training is going or just do my own 100 miler that day.

Im getting the book "Going Long" by Joe Friel & Gordon Bryn to use as a training guide. Anybody have any input on or experience with this book?

I don't have any experience with that book, but my personal experience is that Joe Friel is more technical than Matt Fitzgerald. If I have to look on other pages for a lot of translations, then you lost me at 'Table of Contents'. Having said that, Joe Friel has a positive reputation. Choose what makes sense to you. Good luck.

We keep going backwards... At what point do we start moving forward towards 2011?

Hi all,  just checking in.  partially pinched nerve from IMFL is still causing some issues so still no training.  not too sure how much longer I can sit around though.

Race schedule for 2011:

March   - Chilly 1/2 marathon
March   - Run around the Bay (30k)
May      - Mississauga marathon
July      - Peterborough 1/2 ironman
August - IMKY

I'd like to add something to the fall just not sure what at this piont.  I travel to Europe for work a fair bit so the race schedule has to be fairly light.  Having said that, it would be great to enter an event while on the road.

Something fun happened at 4:30 in the morning!

Ok...it actually started around 5:15, but I'm just sayin'.

Had my first swim coach session and it was amazing! Coach had me bilateral breathing in pretty short order and this was one of my biggest fears.

...worth it!

I'm heading back for round two on Thursday.

Peace.

It's really good reference.  I haven't used it to set up a schedule. It seems to me, using it to set up a schedule is a lot of work when there are so many already done for you.  Tri-fuel, and beIRONfit to name two.  But I think it would work well.  Very detailed approach.

Happy training.
