stribbitt - 2011-01-25 3:20 PM I think I need a 12-step program for the Cheez-its!! Thanks for the nudge.

step 1- take out a bag of cheezits
step 2- take out an apple and a half gallon of water
step 3- find a hand-mirror
step 4- go to a (private) full length mirror
step 5- place the apple and water on one side of you
step 6- place the cheezits on the other side of you
step 7- undress...completely
step 8- stare at the back of yourself using the hand-mirror
step 9- stare for a whoooole, looong  entire five minutes
step 10- think to yourself, "if i eat these cheezits, i'll need to do 400 squats."
step 11- eat the apple and water, pitch the cheezits
step 12- repeat everyday

I absolutely love this!  I think I will use this the next time the potato chips are calling me.  After a time or two, I will probably be able to skip the part about actually looking in the mirror, because the horrible image will be burned in my memory!!

I think a run goal for February would be great.  I will have to really think about what my goal will be, because I have that HM in May I am trying to get ready for... (And I think you may be referring to me that you suggested a HM plan to!)

And speaking of running, my run last night was fabulous!  Not that I developed super speed or anything, but it was in the 30s for the first time in weeks and it actually felt warm while I was out!  It was great.

Karen

Nice Karen!! It's warming up here too. I'm going to run on the treadmill tonight because I can get it in before I leave work and then go home eat and swim. If it stays nice I might get a run in outside after a ride on my trainer.

Hey. There is nothing wrong with a mountain bike. Ask Anne (Summergirl2) how many times she had to share a hotel room with me and a mountain bike! lol

I'm actually excited for him. I LOVE new toys!

My February running goal:

Ok my run goal is 20 miles total, running 2x/week (my run workouts will range from 20-35 minutes). I know a lot of you could probably do that in one run, but for me I think it is reasonable. I looked at my training plan (which goes by time) and divided the total running time by 12 (I was running closer to 10:30 before my injury, but I haven't run in over 3 months) and came up with about 16 miles. I plan to extend a couple of the workouts assuming I have no back pain, so my run goal is 20.

I guess that my running goal for this month is to possibly run by the end of the month.  I got shin splints in October and have been nursing them on and off.  I had ambitions of doing something this May in the Pittsburgh marathon, but that is not going to be happening short of a miracle.  I ran a race a few weeks ago, and that really did them in.  My plan now is to learn more and work on my running form.  I am starting to read Danny Dreyer's CHI Running to see if that can be of some help.

As for my new toy, it is now the beautiful center piece in our family room.  I feel like a kid on Christmas morning, but now I can't wait for Spring! You have to love the winter clearance sales!

71 degrees here today.  My run goal for February is going to be 50 miles.  That is only 10.25 miles per week.  Should be simple.  I might actually make the swim goal next month as well.  We should set a goal for each thing.  I will swim 8 hours, Bike 16 hours and run 50 miles total.  I will also try and eat as healthy as possible 6 days a week.  Any one like those?

Congrats Michael!!! Enjoy that thing. And post up some pics when you can.

For the goals. If you guys want to keep the last goal or make any other goals absolutely feel free. We'll all be able to see them if you put them in your training log and hold you accountable.

Uh Oh!  The temp is going to drop into the mid 60's next week.  Going to need a jacket to train.  45 this morning.  Freezing.  I had to wear pants to work.    I don't know how you guys do it.

I would pay a lot of money for a 40 degree day right now...there hasn't been a single day that I've been able to run outside in almost three weeks.

Woke up to 19 inches of new snow.  I cannot wait for the spring.

I'm going to visualize being in the sun until it actually shines, which may still take a few months here. Pittsburgh's sunny days are fewer than anywhere else in the country, I'm sure of that.

Anyway, what's everyone's favorite machine? I totally forgot about the rowing machine. I use to row all the time and it is awesome for the upper back and arms. I think I'll do that tonight after running!

Allright!!!! a QOTD!!!: I like the computrainer. I wish I had my own at home. But for $2000 it's not very high on my list of things to buy. I can keep taking the classes till I finish my basment and get my own! I love the bike anyway and was mountain bike racing before I did tri's. Using the computrainer and power readings is addicting and an incredible way to quantify bike progress. Not to mention there are lots of less than ideal days to train in Chicagoland so being able to do it indoors is priceless. I like my kurt kinetic too, but the computrainer has a lot more to offer.

Good morning group!

I just wanted to point out a couple articles here on BT that really fits in to some of our discussion here. Check out the The Athlete's Kitchen and the Winterizing your Bike article.

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/cms/category.asp?catid=-3

Hey Michael.......where's those pics?

If you saw my logs I pulled my calf this week. Right after we made our run goals. LOL I'm not sure I'll be able to get any more runs in this week. Hopefully, I'll get back Sunday but if it feels at all like it hurts again I'm cutting it short so I can come back at it next month. I'm only 13 weeks from the marathon!!! Need to stay on track.

Let's have some fun on here today. By now some of you are probably getting consumed by this sport and are starting to see some REALLY cool toys on the market. I want to see some pics of what you a daydreaming of!!!!
QOTD: What's on your wish list for this sport?

Mine: I want a new race bike for Xterra's........

I like the idea of setting goals in each sport, so in addition to my 20 miles running, I also pledge to hit 8 hours of swimming and 5 hours of cycling.

I got hit with a wicked cold a couple days ago, so no workouts the past 2 days and probably the next 2 days unfortunately. Lots of rest & fluids.

I will get pics on tonight after the gym, and it is killing me to use a spinning bike when I have my new bike sitting in the family room.  However, a co-worker offered me her trainer today!  She's not using it and said I can take it for awhile!  I should have that by Monday.

Yoga has everything to do with triathlon. If I did more yoga and quit hating on it soooo much I'd probably get hurt much much less!!!

Very cool!!
