Champion 14677 | Subject: RE: The Ghoulies are biking their way through September ironannekidd - 2011-09-20 6:53 AM Dear Ghoulies who are being very patient and supportive with my workout goals,
I want you to know that I have been getting small workouts in. There may be 10 minutes here, 15 minutes there, several times a day. I just have not been logging them. I am disappointed in myself for slacking off the past 11 months. I had worked very hard to lose weight and get in shape before my crash and burn at last year's Marine Corp Marathon. Ending up in the ER really messed with my head. It shook my confidence, and made me question a lot of things about myself. I am slowly getting back to the place I was before, but I am not there yet. Right now I have several obstacles in the way that I am trying to work around. Coaching soccer, and taking 3 college classes take up a lot of my time, so I take the short workouts when I can. I don't log them though because I am disappointed that they are all I am doing. I want to run again. I want to go on a bike ride that isn't in my basement on the trainer. I will get there. Please be patient. I thank you for your continued support, and I am looking forward to doing the Beaches to Battleships HIM next fall. Sincerely, Ann Dear Ann. I'll be sherpa-ing at B2B for you. Log those workouts. A little peach in the logs is a wonderful pick-me-up! Love, Ghoulie Robin. |

Champion 14677 | Subject: RE: The Ghoulies are biking their way through September Morning Ghoulies. I am taking the day off today to take my mom to the dr. Then lunch and a pedicure. Gotta get the feet done before we head back to Fla next weekend. Hopefully tonight the stars will align so Jim and I can celebrate our anniversary eve. |

Champion 14677 | Subject: RE: The Ghoulies are biking their way through September ironannekidd - 2011-09-20 6:48 AM There is no doubt in my mind that my daughter is a mini me. I am sorry HAPPY about that. She broke her arm in June. I thought she broke her collar bone last night, but she is ok. They were sparring in Jiu Jitsu last night and she was just tearing this one boy up. It was almost the end of class so instead of all out sparring, they were just going to do takedowns. All of the kids were tired, and the boy she was practicing with was frustrated. They held each other off for almost 3 minutes. The coach announced "30 seconds" and everyone tore in. My daughter got a leg hook and was going to take the boy down, but in mid air he rotated and ended up landing on top of her with his arm and his weight across her neck and collar bone area. She immediately started crying, and it was a serious cry. My son went right to her. The coach took her off the mat and his wife took her to the restroom to check her out and wash her face. I let them go for a few minutes thinking if it weren't too bad she would settle down quickly. She kept crying. I went to see how she was and when I walked around the corner her neck and upper chest were pinkish purple and she had some swelling. That was when I thought she broke the bone. She could move both arms all over, and it didn't bother her when I pulled on them, or made her do moves where I provided resistance. It took about 20 minutes for her to calm down though. Scared the bajeebers out of me. Right away my husband wanted to pull her out of class. I said, no. They are both going to get bumps and bruises, but I feel that they are a small price to pay for being able to defend yourself. I have seen the classes do good things for both kids. I am not pulling them out.
Fixed that. Good call to keep her in. You can't run away from everything that bumps you around in life. Soon you'll just be in a closet rocking back and forth. Sorry for the hurt to her and the scare to everyone else,, though. |

Champion 16743 Somewhere I can be nekidd | Subject: RE: The Ghoulies are biking their way through September The fire alarm just went off, so we all went outside, in the rain. We stood out there for a few minutes and someone came out and said it was just a test we could come back in. The alarm was still going off, and it is incredibly loud. Some people said they were staying out in the rain until they turned the alarm off. |

That had to have been a little nerve wracking! Thanks Bill. It definitely stressed me out. I helped her do her homework after we had dinner, then we just cuddled in my bed and watched TV. |

You are right, they are going to get bumps and bruises all through life, not just as children. Plus, pulling her out for a bruise would just teach her that she can quit when things get tough. In the long run, the call needs to be her call. If she eventually decides that she does not like the program, then you move onto something else. That is the great thing about being young. You can try a whole bunch of things before deciding what you want to do with life. And even then, you can try new things your whole life. I did not start doing Tri's until I was (cough, cough) 50.ironannekidd - 2011-09-20 6:48 AM There is no doubt in my mind that my daughter is a mini me. I am sorry HAPPY about that. MotoQueen 13195 | Subject: RE: The Ghoulies are biking their way through September Ann, when my son played soccer (12 years worth), there was not a game that went by where he did not get hurt. I learned to sit on the bench until the coach gave me the signal that it was serious and that I needed to be involved. Other parents would comment on how I could sit there and do nothing, until I explained that this was a everyday occurance. My son seemed to be a magnet for guys to knock down etc, all in the spirit of the game. Again, glad the little one is going to be okay. |

I was a giant bruise when I was a kid. My son got a fat lip playing football at recess the other day. Kids are resilient. She will be fine. She whoops up on the boys in class. |

Wee hooo! Where is everyone staying? I am staying at the Best Western Rosslyn/Iwo Jima. I am very close to the finish line. I'll be staying at Fort Belvoir with my daughter and her family. But, I want to get together will all ghoulies. We need to coordinate the weekend, but I guess we still have time for that. I think we should meet in DC, then run away to Key West. That is a lovely idea! We can just kidnap any Ghoulies not in attendance on our way.
Yes yes yes!!!! Do this!!! |
