I ran 48:02 last year and ran 42:17 today 6:48 avg mile. 3rd in AG. Then 3 hours later I did my 4 hour ride. Had a 15 mph wind all day. Got 3100 ft elevation gain, legs are fired now!! GOD DAY OF WORK!!! 42:17 - dang that's speedy! Nicely done. |

Master 2151 Johns Creek, Georgia | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED Cute peeps Kelly. That's one candy I don't like, but they are cute. Carrie - nice job. Although I think I'd rather run 16 in one shot, not split up. I'm not sure I could convince myself to head out for a second run. I've got a 1:50 run, and an hour bike on the schedule for today. I also wanted to try to get to the lake for my first ows of the season. I hear the water temp is a balmy 67. Run & bike are first priority though. |

Expert 1121 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED Triguy, very impressive run. Kelly, did you make that for the Mother in law???! Happy Easter!Karen, I still forget what swimming actually is. Haven't swam since last September. Either way, I'm still jealous that you have the option to even consider OWS. Good for you. |

Master 1832 Elgin, IL | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED I hear you on the split runs, but they work ok for a couple reasons, you get longer mileage in being fresh for most of the miles instead of really tailing off on a 3 hour run. Also, the second half of the first run was supposed to be done getting into zone 2, which was about 1-1:30 min/mile quicker ... that is doable on the shorter run, I don't think I could do that at the end of the 3 hour run. The nice thing is for the Goofy training, we never, ever did more than a 2 hour run in one day, or 3 hours cumulatively (split) in one day. We did more runs in general and less mileage per run and I felt the best during Goofy that I did during the previous 2 marathons on 3 months earlier. It sucks, but I guess it works so I can't complain. |

They suck and haven't been able to pull it together for over a 100 years! Maybe this year will be different ... we can hope anyway. |

I lived in Miami before the Marlins existed. We got WGN,WOR, and TBS. So you were a Cubs, Mets, or Braves fan. |

The destination stadium is true as well and you can see that with Red Sox Nation as well. I have been through all the heartache since I was about 7 playing baseball myself. One year hopefully. I am calling it the Theoville Miracle. Now hopefully during all the Easter festivities today I can get a bike ride in. Happy Easter and God Bless everyone. |

Extreme Veteran 585 Price, UT | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED Lots of great performances from this group this week. I have not been one of them. I am fighting mental discouragement at how much I lost during my winter lay-off while trying to rehab this calf-back thing. The body just doesn't bounce back much at 56. But I keep plugging away. Did a 12 mile "hill" ride today and will move back to swimming in the morning to get distances in now that the masters class is over until fall. Sciatic pain still a problem, but enough adjustments on the bike and back excercises seem to have helped the calf issue. |

Extreme Veteran 3020 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED It sounds like this group has been working hard this weekend! I hope you all are treating yourselves to some good eats & treats I got in a 40 minute trail run and 2000m recovery swim this morning. This was after making waffles and turkey sausage...oops. I ate nearly 2 lbs. of easter candy last night as I was stuffing the kids' easter baskets. LOL I also had to dip my hand in the baskets this morning. All that sugar makes me feel like crap. We colored eggs yesterday, and I had to make some egg salad with all those damn hard boiled eggs. So that was lunch. Gross! I know my MIL is making ham tonight, so no problems overeating at dinner, because I loathe ham. I won't touch it! Sry for the food vent, but I'm feeling ill from it all Anyway, nice job, everyone! Have a happy Easter! Edited by jarvy01 2012-04-08 12:42 PM |

They suck and haven't been able to pull it together for over a 100 years! Maybe this year will be different ... we can hope anyway. Ha - I ran Chicago marathon years ago. My husband & son came along to support. We went to a cubs game after the race, and I was sick as a dog! I sat down in my seat and didn't budge an inch. Then I had one of those big salty soft chewy pretzels, and started to feel like a million bucks! Sammy Sosa was playing in right field. It was a pretty awesome experience. |

Master 2151 Johns Creek, Georgia | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED My husband loaded up the kayak so I got my first ows of the season in while he kayaked along side me. I wore my sleeveless wetsuit, but really didn't need it. The water was cold at first, took my breath away for first few minutes, but then it was nice. Swam about 1.2 miles. (I am out of ows shape - there's no break every 25 meters!) I ran home from the lake. Felt good until I got to 10 miles, and then I faded. Probably because my schedule had 1:50 total time, and when my watch hit 1:50 I stopped and walked a little bit. Then shuffled/walked another 3 miles home. My legs are beat. Hour recovery bike ride might have to wait until tomorrow. Happy Easter! |

Regular 1777 Auckland, North Island | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED It's been a good start to the month for me, I've just had my biggest ever training week, the first time I've cracked 10 hours for the week. Not much by some of your standards I know, but a milestone of sorts for me. I'm feeling better about things after the last week of training than I was this time last week after the disappointing race. I've been trying to focus on lower, but more consistent intensity, more sleep and better nutrition... Its only been a week, but the signs are good so far. |

Master 2538 Albuquerque | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED After thinking about the different plans I chose the Basic 12 week Oly plan, HR based. I chose this over the others I was originally looking at mainly because it's a detailed plan, while the others just gave time and/or distance for each day. This one hits every sport 3x's a week, with most weeks adding in a 4th bike. I imported the first 4 weeks and will restart the plan once those are done to get me to the 16 to my race. Or choose a different plan at the end of this 4 weeks if this isn't working for me for whatever reason. |

Expert 1481 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED Hour on the trainer in my recovery zone this morning. I wanted to mention since we have so many New Englanders and a few from CT I believe that the Stamford KIC IT (Kids In Crisis International Triathlon) Olympic is a great race and a great cause. I wish my schedule fit so I could do it again this year. The race is really well organized. The swim is in the ocean in a really calm bay and the water was super warm. T1 is at the beach but T2 is downtown which adds some flavor to the event. The bike runs through the city and if flat for the first 9 miles but then the next 9 are very hilly and challenging. I hit 43 MPH on one of the downhills. The final 6 back into town are mostly downhill and fast. The run is two loops downtown. The after event spread and vendors are very nice. I have no affiliation and just like the race. |

Extreme Veteran 3020 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED A 60 minute ZR bike this a.m. Something's up with my bike, so I'm going to take it off the trainer and work with it this morning. If I'm still having problems, then it needs to go in to the shop. I think it needs a good cleaning as well. Tomorrow we have a brokers' open house, so the rest of today will be spent preparing the house for that. Not easy to do with 4 kids running around (only 1 is in school all day). |

Extreme Veteran 3020 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED I have shin splints - both shins. Left is more bothersome than the right. I was cleared to run 2 weeks ago, and I have run slow and easy. Do you think this is related to the stress fracture (for those of you whom are new to the group, I was diagnosed with a tibial stress fracture toward the end of Feb.)? Or do you think this is something new? I'm starting to get worried about my triathlon season. How will I ever be able to be competitive this year when I keep having setbacks? I'm upset right now. |
