trmat79 - 2012-08-15 3:48 PM Back from the gym... had to spend some extra time there today to work off some aggression that I got in the office.... I have the absolute dumbest story from the office.....
Are you going to tell us???
OK so keep in mind this is the military and we have a rank structure etc. So this morning a commander (0-5) started complaining that the trash needed to be taken out. He told me that I need to find someone to take it out. I told him that I can do it (I am a LT (0-3) ) and his response was "No .. no officer in the military should ever have to take out the trash!" I say ok and then he leaves. I am getting ready to go to the gym so I bag up the trash and throw it out on my way to my truck. So I get back from the gym and get lectured and actually yelled at for taking out the trash...... really?!?!?! thoughts??

Seems kinda dumb but aren't you supposed to do as you're told in the military?

Nothing wrong with following orders :-)

Yes Ma'am

Welcome back, missed you!

Why thank you. Too kind.

Get any action with the athletes?

Some of them tried but couldn't keep up with me.

Sounds like you guys need more to do.

But yes, I agree, him yelling at you for taking out the trash is ridiculous. In fact, HE should've taken out the trash. I wonder what he does when his significant other tells him to take out the trash. My guess it he doesn't tell him or her that no military officer should take out the garbage.

I wouldn't be surprised if he actually does say this. Some people actually believe they are go amazing just because of their jobs...two quotes come to mind.

"How do you know when you are halfway through a date with a fighter pilot? He says "Ok that is enough of me talking about myself, now you talk about me."

"what is the difference between a fighter pilot and god. God doesn't think he's a fighter pilot"

See that's the best part -- our officers were actually fighter pilots. With a broom in their hands, sweeping out a hangar.

Cool guys. I remember them pretty well -- Col. Denny Swanstrom (also the base commander) and Lt. Col. Darden were always there after post-flight briefings to help sweep and do the FOD walk. I guess I didn't know that wasn't common!

Well that is my point.. I AM a fighter PIlot and I took out the trash today... but I don't think its a big deal. It was me just trying to help out the office....ugh I need a new job ....

But you're in the Navy, and as we used to say while running, Navy wings are made of lead.

Then again we used to say that Air Force wings were made of gold but the ones I stole from the officers didn't fetch much at the pawn shop, so there goes that BS theory.

True but I can say that my wings are gold....at least the ones my folks bought me when I got winged in 04. Oh well I will probably just blow off my swim today and drink to get rid of this stress headache... I really need to drink more

my gold membership on here expires in 7 days and I am trying to decide if I should re-up eith gold or silver or the free version...

What does the TAN folks use?  gold, silver , bronze or free??

Silver.  IMO,  you don't get much more with the gold except some online help and the custom plan builder.  Neither of which I used.

So someone called my wife that our garage door was open.  In all the years, I don't think I ever did that (left the house with leaving it open).

Good thing when they closed it for me, they saw my P3 still there.  I'm assuming everything is safe, but a little anxious to get home and check..

I am so OCD about this every morning...kills me but if I don't remember it closing I will drive around the block to check before heading to work.

I serioulsy wonder if there is age related OCD.

Back in the past, I wouldn't even think about it.  But more and more often, I wonder on the way to work "did I shut the door?  I don't REMEBER doing it, but surely I did".  I have the urge to go back, and say it's just OCD and move on.  Get back home and of course it's shut.

Except THIS time.  I wonder if I just screwed myself and will worry all the time.  Probably not, but I WILL make sure I see it go all the way down before rushing off.

Big issues with garage doors around here. The submarine base is now using frequencies which were allocated as "future use" by the FCC. These were allocated to garage door openers. People in the town across the river from the base now have to pay about $300 to get new transceivers which don't conflict.

Any military near you Jim?

I've had this happen a few times. Cc company (bank in this case) took care of it all.
