What are you proud of this week?

I'm just proud that I'm sticking with it. I haven't been active in anything since I was younger than 18, so we'll say 30 years. Today I went to buy my very first, EVER, made just for running shoes. I actually got on a treadmill and ran in front of my husband and everyone else in the store. When I started out I put the treadmill on 2.5 mph because the last time I used my treadmill (2 months ago) that's what I was walking on it. I actually had to turn it up to 4.8 mph before I could run on it. I love my new shoes. They're so light!

Can you attach the spreadsheet so we can all see it?

First of all, I am proud to be on a team with each one of you.

Second of all, I am proud that I am actually taking being sick seriously, and not training. This, I believe, would make it a very first in my entire life, and different than last week, too. (I still gotta work, though ... so I'll be racking up the miles no matter what).

What's a nuck?

I used to work with someone who had a comment on her coffee cup about the place being nucking futs and I like using that phrase when I know I'm doing the insane stuff I do

If you want to see the sheet, it will be posted every week on the "Team Leaders" thread for this challenge! Everyone is doing AWESOME!! And ironically, other than the invisible Cleavitt (to whom I gave the benefit of the doubt this week, but will not be so kind next week), your lovely team leader is at the lowest percentage so far - but that is because she had a race to prepare for on Saturday, where she whooped some a$$ I will be catching back up this week.

And Gail, are you planning to add your tally as well, or are you just going to be our cheerleader? That's cool if you're just here for moral support

Like you all, I am pushing to new heights in running this month.  But, I have trained with (the most wonderful in the world) coach since I had surgery on both legs in January, and we don't set a whole month of workouts at a time so we can adjust based on how I'm doing.   I always do exactly what he says, no more and no less (and, I am NEVER tired, NEVER injured, and NEVER bored; I think he is a god).  So -- it didn't seem fair to put my team at the mercy of my coach:  If I set a goal of 80 miles/16 hours (which is my estimate of what he plans for the month and about 25% more than I've ever done) and he told me to do less (but do it faster, for example, or on a hillier route), I would do less and you would all suffer!  So, technically I am "just" cheering with no official goal, but I would appreciate any inspiration for my unofficial goal of "be able to do whatever coach says."

That's incredible, and as you know, you have my deepest admiration.

If I did everything Coach Monica told me to do (and perhaps more importantly, NOT do the stuff she tells me NOT to do), she'd probably fall over dead of shock.

Come to think of it, so would I . I need your inspiration!!!

Well, FWIW, I know that Coach Monica only does about 75%--80% of what Coach Mike tells HER to do ...  (but don't tell her I told you that).

We love Coach Mike; he is inspiring.  And he's usually right.  All those sexy coaches in the orange and blue, in fact, can get your heart racing...

Back in to report that I got in a 2.1 mile walk/run tonight. This was my last time of 2 mins of running. It bumps up to 4 mins with my next walk/run. I'm making progress!!!

Yanti - Well, the scale was kind this week because I had an unnatural gain last week. I had been on steroids and antibiotics fighting off the flu and a rather nasty sinus infection. I still need to lose another pound to start making forward progress again. Thanks though, I'll always take someone calling me a skinny bunny.

How long were you on the steroids for? those things are nasty... I was on high doses for much of last year and Im STILL trying to loose the weight, (we wont even go into the other side effects I experiences while on them!) it can take a little while for them to clear your system so dont stress over it and be kind to yourself

Thankfully, I was only on them for about a week. I'm allergic to penicillin so pretty much anytime I come down with a really nasty infection, I end up on steroids in addition to a non-penicillin-based antibiotic.

The virus this time was particularly heinous, so I had a feeling the doc would prescribe the steroids, which he did. On the upside, I was feeling MUCH better within just a couple of days of starting them. I was a good little patient though and kept taking them until they were all gone so the nasty bug would STAY gone!

You know best , but you could always set a conservative goal of 10 % over what did last month .If you go over due to increased fitness or cooler fall weather , Fantastic and Great . If you are a little short due to the need to rest . No sweat . My public goal is actually under what i really want to do. But as mileage increase so does fatigue and the need to rest and scale back every 3rd week or so.
Go On join in the fun !

I did 48 laps around the little track at my gym (total of 4 miles). Alternated 2 laps of walking with 3 laps of running - trying to build up to the 6.2 miles I'll need to run for the 10K on December 9.

My tailbone hurts and I am not sure why. Can't be from the bike, since I ride all the time. And I haven't fallen recently, that I can remember! Grrr...

Well I finally got off my behind and did the 4 miles. I finally found the high everyone talks about but it didn't last long becasue I was comin up on the entrance to my hood.  My brain and devil on the shoulder were having a fight and the brain won.  Finally I can get past it. Well i did today at least!!

Mine too. Since this is the first time I've ever done anything like this, I was worried about letting my team down, so I went reeeeeally conservative.

I kind of stayed at the conservative end for my goal as well. I figured since I'm just getting back to being able to exercise after my spinal surgery 6 months ago that it was better to err on the side of caution.
