Snow day in Michigan. All the schools and my office closed (although the roads were just fine by 9:00 am!). I came to work anyway, now I am leaving to get some points for POTL! (I really just wanted to make a post to see if I did the signature properly!).

I'm a little sore today - but not too bad... plan to ride the trainer tonight if I have energy and don't have to work...

What's going on in Diane's World? It's been a tough week... A dear friend's 16 yo son committed suicide... funeral is tomorrow. He's been suicidal with multiple attempts for about 2 years. I like to think that he's not suffering any more, and that he's finally at peace... still it's tough on his family and friends...  I signed up for Team in Training to raise money for LLS (Leukemia Lymphoma Society), but now I just want to ride in Ben's Memory... so although the money is going to LLS, my ride is for Ben.

If you would like to donate to TnT, you can do so here... http://pages.teamintraining.org/snv/ambbr10/cardholic

Diane - so sorry to hear!  Prayers and vibes to the family.  I hit your page and donated.  Not much but I figure every little bit helps, right?

New wetsuit is supposed to be here on Friday, hopefully my RoadID will be also.  Getting ready to ride the trainer tonight.  Next couple of days is supposed to be wet and cold.  Oh Joy!

Today was our third snow day this week.  I'm going slightly crazy!  Fingers crossed that there will be school tomorrow.  It's Valentine's party day at the elementary school, so we're eager to get these carefully written cards out to the classmates.

Go team, Go!!!!  Mav is right, no slacking now!  Got another 23 miles on the bike last night.  Makes 65+ miles this week on the bike and long rides coming up Sat/Sun.

Has anyone here done RedMan?  Might consider the Relay team portion.  Aquabike looks good but I don't think I am ready to dedicate that much training time quite yet.  May be 2011 for the full AquaBike.

Billy - nice swim time!  Definitely a speedster.  I am hoping to hit 42minutes with a wetsuit.

SRD for me.  Forecasting possible mixed snow for us tonight.  Kids love the idea, after 10 yrs in WI I am not as thrilled with the idea.  Run/Swim tomorrow.

Done for the day, 90 minutes on the spin bike (to cold outside for real bike), medium resistance, sweating like a stuck hog.  For you yankees, that means it was hot!

Now, time to ask nutrition questions.  What do you use and why.  I need your experience.  I used FRS in the past for marathons and half marathons but what do yall think.

Diane, so sorry to hear the news.. how utterly devastating..

Billy, wow, amazing swim!!! you go, foot man!

I've been feeling like i'm coming unglued, a little. Perhaps you guys could stop by my log and take a look at my post from today? Give me your thoughts? John said I'm overtraining and I agree, just not sure how much to cut back ad how much rest is mandatory and all that. thank you thank you....

off to get a crying baby from his crib

Billy I am NOT a fan of infinit, or any of the endurance drinks. I just dont like them. I drink 1/4 strength Gatorade GU ( 3/4 water, 1/4 Gatorade) The full strength stuff is too sweet. I eat uncrustables ( prepackaged peanut butter sandwiches). I have one sandwich every hour on the bike. They are 280 cals each. I also have one apple cinnamon hammer gel after each sandwich. They taste like apple pie. On the run I "eat off the course" using water, gels and endurolytes. I always use the same nutrition when I train. Occasionally I will eat jelly beans while I am on the bike too.

Gary is a peanut butter and jelly purist...I'll let him explain!!!

Let the games begin Pete!!!!!!!!!!

I am a peanut butter purist!  Putting jelly on a Peanut Butter sandwich should be illegal!

The predicted snow and ice never came and so its wet and cold outside and everyones plans are messed up.  Just amazing.

I did my first lifting day in a long, long time. I forgot how much I really enjoy lifting .... I know it doesn't score a lot of points (sorry POTL), but I really needed it for my mind. I have put on 4 pounds in the last two weeks. I am eating junk again way too much! One excuse after another, I just have to stop doing it and I know that!!!!!!!

Anyway, I will make-up some points this weekend.

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone on Sunday!!!!

question: I'm doing my first HUGE Tour tomorrow - they are expecting 9000 people - amazing! Should I line up towards the back or middle? Or just line up whereever I am when I get there? I don't want to imped people's progress, and it's a mass start  - although It's not a race, it's still a matter of safety - isn't it?  I asked one of the Volunteers at the Expo (she seemed to know a lot) but she said that it didn't matter where I lined up...

guess I'm a bit nervous   see Mav? You're not alone...

Diane - hope you have fun on the ride!!!

Swim and run in yesterday.  Ride and run in today.  Tomorrow is a short ride and moved my longer ride (2.5 hrs) to Monday which I am taking off as the kids are out of school next week for Mardi Gras.
