Take it easy. The meds most likely will elevate your heart rate especially if it is an antihistamine type product. BTW What race are you doing?I went on a 25 minute run this morning. Aside from a 1 hour Z1 ride on Sunday, this is the first exercise I've had in 10 days. I took it easy, and felt ok during the run, though I think the meds I'm on pushed my heart rate up a little. When I finished, though, I had a big coughing attack that wasn't any fun. The doctor says the problem is a combination of allergies and a sinus infection. I'm still planning on doing my race May 5, but may have to, um, reevaluate my performance goals. I've found that antihistamines elevate by about 10 bpm. I know it sucks, but you need to be kind to yourself and ease back into things. I always find that the best goals for early season races are to put forth your best effort possible rather than to have specific time goals. |

I was about a block from the finish line when the explosions went off in Boston and spent the next two hours trying to account for all of my runners (I was the Hartford Track Club bus mom). We had two runners literally cross at the time of the explosion. We didn't find our last runner until about 4:30 p.m. and then we had to walk out of Boston to find out bus. When we got back to CT there were several TV crews waiting for us. Really overwhelming stuff. Oh Kelly! didn't know you were up there! I hope you are hanging in there mentally. Sending you good vibes |
