Done for the day, took of yesterday due to weather.  2150 swim and 90 minutes on the spin bike, does that count as a brick?

You guys on the other team just keep taking days off and moving big workouts until Monday when our event is over....LOL.  We are then going to take a rest/recovery week and maybe we will do a one week/same team challenge for the end of the month.  This has been a lot of fun....

Lena - take a couple of days off with no more than a 30 minute walk (I would like to see you have some movement) or a class at Lifetime (maybe one you have never taken and NOT a spin class).  Be sure you are getting a lot of sleep.  Remember, as you rack up the miles you need to rack up the ZZZZ's as well.  I don't know if you are getting enough sleep, also, how is your regular eating going?  Lots of fruits and veggies????

Nutrition - I LOVE INFINIT....contrary to Mav -- which just goes to show that you have to find what works for you....I puke Gatorade in any concentration during an event.  Although I do drink G2 sometimes in lieu of a Diet Coke (they are not good for me).  I also love apple cinnamon gel from Hammer, and uncrustables.  I like Endurolytes for extra salt or another salt tab called Miracle Salt....  The thing about Infinit that I like the best is the customization available.  I am able to dial up different intensities of flavor (to be able to concentrate multi hour bottles with less flavor intensity), dial up electrolytes for really hot weather, add caffeine or different ingredients for sprint races.  I also think they have the best recovery protein drink I have ever tasted in fruit punch....there is NO chalky taste and it actually tastes good.

I apologize about my lack of appearance lately.  I have been travelling a LOT the last two weeks.  I am hoping that will slow down a bit in the near future.

LRR - LOL! I guess we are getting a little cocky!  For me life is going to get in the way of any long training tomorrow.

Have to go get 40 bales of hay and try to get them in the barn.  I may need a ruling if I can use that for some points.  For this week I have:
13.6 miles running
96 miles on the bike
2720m swimming

Will add another 3 miles tomorrow,  I would have added another 45-50 miles on the bike if I rode tomorrow instead of Monday.

I am assuming at this point we have lost Walker, I will keep checking hoping that is not the case.

Billy yes, I consider that a brick.  Nice job!!!

Beautiful day today, a bit cold but sunny.  Picked up a yard of mulch in my truck and spread it on the flower beds.  Will probably get another yard tomorrow to finish it off.

Next Saturday is my first race of the season, the Mardi Gras Mambo 10k.  This will be the 3rd time I have run it.  Hoping to beat my 10k PR.  Signed up for a 5k in March called the Fatboy 5k.  Have run it before, lots of fun.  One year they had a shirt "Gain weight now, let me show you how".  Don't expect a PR (may be a post surgery PR as it will be my first 5k since my surgery in 2008).  Except for Monday it will be a light week for me with mainly 30 minute workouts.

Good work Gary.....I am glad to see you have an easy week.  You need some recovery time - you have been posting some big numbers.

Hay in the barn - oops....handling hay during our challenge is a problem....each bale costs your team 4 points.....sorry....you should have read the fine print.....LOL....actually creating more horse s#&$t is certainly not going to get your any points.....LOL....no deduction but no addition either....I don't think hay is a sport.....but a good try!!!

56 miles - done...

WOW that was HARD... you all who do HIM & IM are AMAZING. The hardest part of the ride today was the heat... it got up to almost 80* and I've been riding in about 45-50* if that... I wore the right clothing, drank lots of water with NUUN, but still had a bit of heat stroke.

Ride started out REAL slow as it was VERY crowded, then we got going, and I was having a BLAST!  After the 2nd SAG stop, I had planned on calling my boyfriend and have him meet me out in front of Sun City (where my parents live, and we're staying) so, I called him, and told him to meet me at the gate... I got to the gate and waited... and waited... and waited... I was there almost a half hour - he didn't answer his phone... I was PO'd... so, I finally left a VM and told him I was going on...

The minute I got back on the bike, I realized I was at the wrong gate!!! GRRRRRRRRRRR... I got to the right gate and he wasn't there - he had given up around the same time I did... I called again, he answered the phone (he had gone back to the house and got his phone by then) I waited for him about another 5 minutes, and FINALLY saw him... handed off my arm warmers and tights... and went on my way... but the damage was done - waiting out in the heat for over half hour really drained me

At the next SAG stop, I took some water and poured it over my head, and sat down for a few minutes, felt better, and kept going...

I made it to mile 54, and I couldn't go any further - my back was killing me, nevermind my butt... the heat was brutal... I stopped and sat down - a man came and gave me a bottle of water - which I poured over my head to cool off... after about 5 minutes, I got back on the road...I figured only 1 mile left as it was advertised a 55 mile ride, but indeed at 55 miles, it says 1 mile to go... so I did yet another mile... and crossed the finish line strong with a fist pump!

I'm re-thinking this century thing...   ah well... 56 miles in the books

It's the last day of the challenge and everyone did so awesome.  It's been a lot of fun watching what everyone else was doing.  A lot of you really inspired me.

John, I posted my workouts on my logs. Total for the 2 weeks:

b: 80 miles
r: 6 miles
s: 9,700 meters
Strength: 1 hour
Bowling: 15 hours (never heard the ruling on my points! Shooting a 710 should be worth something!!!!)

I must have not completely read the competition, because I thought it was running the entire month of Feb! I didn't realize it was only 2 weeks - dummy. I would have swam more often this week if I realized this. Sorry POTL!

This was fun, I recommend we do it for the entire month!

Diane - great job...your finish line is added.  Once overheated it is very difficult to cool down....always better to be a bit chilled.  That is one good thing about riding.  The jersey pockets are usually large enough to hold arm warmers and tights.  If the pockets aren't big enough, roll down the armwarmers to around the wrists and take off the tights and put them inside your jersey.  Your chest may be warm but the lower half could be cooler.

Dan - good job....we are going to do something next week.  I just kept it at two weeks so people didn't get crazy trying to add duration and distance too quick.

People - this is a recovery week....take it easy....sleep....relax.....work according to your plan but if you are just working out right now take this week easy....

OK captains....let's see those totals.....

John - I added a 4 mile run today to yesterday's totals....

HI all... Happy Valentine's Day to all!!!! Anybody doing anything special today with your SOs?

I woke up to a dozen white roses, which totally made my day I made a beef stew for lunch, which was a huge hit with DH (let's just say that when it comes to stews, he is recipe-challenged, and it's been hard to find THE recipe.... and today's did it, "Next time, can you make a double portion?" YEAH!!!!!!).. LAter today, making yummy dinner: firecracker shrimp, spinach salad with caramelized onions and mushrooms, ribeye steaks with crushed roasted potatoes and we got our favorite strawberry tarts from a local store.. and wine. Yummmm.

On a different, totally different, note, we are in a bit of shock and upset at our neighbors: Rewind back 3 months or so.. neighbors to the left of us-worst neighbors ever-drunken yelling, cops, swearing, you name it.. (thankfully, we have a good relationship with them, but mostly, we just keep away and try to be Switzerland). New-ish neighbors to the right-BEST neighbors in the whole universe- Dee and I have so much in common, it's freaky, Chip has taken us (Nikita, my 4 yo, really) fishing, we adore them, they adore us...

The Left Neighbors (the son) have this pit bull, who was previously abused, and there are two children in the house-4 yo and a newborn (and an abused pit bull... REALLY?).. one day last Nov, pit bull gets out, out of the blue decides he is a kill dog, sprints past our house and rushes Chip who happens to be in the back yard. Chip was dragged on the ground and ended up with 26 stitches and some major damage to his leg. (and I still get teary-eyed when i remember that Damon was going to take out our 4 yo and a friend's 9 yo to play outside and changed his mind 5 minutes before the attack happened, ... we would have had a funeral if a child had been outside). There is court, there is NO apology from the Left Neighbor parents (the son did apologize), the dog gets put down eventually after we all live in fear.... we heard rumors they would get another dog..... fast forward about a month till today when we look out the window and guess what we see outside? A young.black.pit bull.dog. LOOSE.

Are you freaking kidding me?????

Ok, sorry this was so long ..

Wanted to post about my legs and all that, too.. Thank you for your advice, everybody... I have done absolute.and.painfully.nothing since Fri am spinning class. Thought I'd push back the long run till today, but last night, my legs (and whole body in general) were still aching and I was still very achy and felt rotten a lot, so I scrapped the run altogether. need to rest up.

Following everybody's advice, I started actually tracking how much water I'm drinking (and i'm not drinking enough, now trying to keep it closer to 100 oz, considering i'm nursing), did get Gatorade for when I do go swim tomorrow (Thanks, Gary!), will order Hammer gel, been asleep by 10 (actually, without much wanting from me, my body just shuts down lol) and been getting more sleep than before, even though I still have to get up with teething Lukas (actually, I've been slumming it and just letting him sleep with me when he wakes up at night-no energy to fight this right now).

This week, I plan to NOT bike and run, but to do several yoga and pilates classes and swim every day. Think I can outswim mav? hehee

Yes, sir. I haven't taken any classes, but chasing my now-very-mobile 9 month old is pretty good Cross-Training lol. I've done great with sleep and really trying to eat good, though last few days, craving sugar like there is NO tomorrow.. ironically, right around the same time when the achiness and shin pain came.. could it be my body's way of asking for what it needs? Or am I just justifying my love for dessert in my head?
I do eat lots of fruits and veggies, always have. Really trying to limit too much fruit now and eat a lot of veggies instead.

I am a dog lover but have no tolerance for neglectful owners.  I think I could take care of the situation in south Mississippi, just saying.

As for Valentines, I gave my wife her first Ironman item.  A shirt that says "Ironmate", actually bought it of the Ironman site, she loved it.

Finished my weeks workout.  Swam 2150 yards and biked on the spin bike for 60 minutes, (hard).

Billy, how cute about the shirt!!!

Have you guys seen a site www.cafepress.com? They have the funniest shirts for EVERY sport and distance! it's really awesome! Mav, you should get THIS one: http://www.cafepress.com/+marathons_are_cute_womens_cap_sleeve_tshi...
hehhehe... LOVE IT!

About the dog... yeah, i know. We love dogs and have one, and so do the GOOD neighbors, but these people are just unreal. UNREAL. I have no idea what i'll do when it gets warm, because I am not comfortable letting my kids play in our nice big back yard with a pit bull who can get loose at any moment next door. Craziness. I hate that they took that sense of security away from us

And Billy, I'm anti-gun, generally, but i was prepared to use it on Zeus back in Nov if he came home, and now, the GOOD neighbors are talking about getting one... ugh. Maybe you come for a visit and have a run in with the pit bull? I'll feed you good Russian food

My total for the two weeks:
Bike:6h 33m  - 94.26 Mi
Run:2h 04m 04s  - 10.77 Mi
Swim:2h 30m  - 7800 Yd
Strength:1h 20m
Rowing:16m

I would have liked to get in another run and another swim, but this cold got the better of me.

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone.  I hope you had a great one.  My DH and I are celebrating on the 19th.  Dinner, but I think we're skipping presents.  He has a ton of bike clothes that he wants to order, and I need cycling/running glasses and bibs for riding as well.  Romantic, huh?  I think the cycling shops are going to be the ones celebrating - even more than us

Hey all!
Trying to pull together distances from everyone.  I see that Walker did post some distances including 6 hrs of Skiing.

LRR - how many points for Skiing?

I don't have Freddy's totals and I don't know if Mav has finished.

Mav - congrats on the new car!!!!

Saw Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief with the family.  Good flick but my 11 yr old who has read most of the books (he is a book worm) was disappointed, nothing like the book he says.  He know more about Greek mythology then a 11yr old should.  Scary.

DW got me compression socks for Valetines!!!!  Wore them on my trip to get hay (50 minute drive) and they felt great.  Definite points for DW.

With everything going on I just took today as an SRD.  Knees feel a bit better and my 2.5 hr ride tomorrow sounds doable now.

skiing equals cross training points for your ruling....I really think skiing should probably get points closer to running but this is a swim, bike, run group with lower points for cross training of reasonable kinds.....

Nancy - good totals

Lena - I love dogs but those people are a different story...they are the ones who need to be examined....I personally do not think Pit Bulls should be bred....but that's just me

First off, Great competition everyone.  Just wanted to thank everyone for keeping me inspired the month of Feb.  I think FEB is the hardest month to train in because New Year's resolutions are long forgotten and the weather hasn't turn nice yet.

OK, POYL Totals:

Biking 358 miles (42 points)
Running 123.49 miles (63 points)
swimming 20.5222 miles (119 points)
Activities 21:08 hours (42 points)

Point Total: 266 points  -  Awesome job team.
