jarvy01 - 2012-08-10 2:27 PM Ok, ladies...do you cut out the sports bra part of your tri top or trisuit?  I've always been fine with it, but then I got my pictures back from the Cleveland Triathlon, and I realize it is NOT fine.  LOL  I think I need a real sports bra.  Anyway, cut them out????

I have no boobs.  I only use tri tops with a built in bra because wearing an extra one is a PITA and chaffe-y.  Some built in bras are better than others.  If you feel fine, I wouldn't worry about it.  All race pictures are less than flattering.

The built in bra feels fine, and I never have any bouncing or discomfort.  I always like having one less thing to worry about.  I'm not large either at an A cup.  You're right....all the race pictures are horrendous, so who cares how saggy the mom boobs look in them.

I do not cut out the built in bra if there is one, they work fine for me.  I usually race in a DeSoto tri top that does not have anything, so I wear a 2XU sports bra underneath.  It has about the same support (very light) as a built in, but probably fits me better since I'm so tall.  I should probably wear something more supportive, but I'm comfortable.

I agree, race pictures are not flattering at all!

ETA - Am I the only one that thinks it's a little creepy to have Tom Demerly posting about cup sizes???

Are you taller than me (5'9")?  Just curious

This is pretty fantastic.  Leonardo Chacon Corrales wrote a message on Simon Whitfield's facebook page after Whitfield caused Corrales to crash in the Olympics.

http://www.buzzfeed.com/jpmoore/olympian-writes-a-sweet-facebook-message-to-the-tr

That is incredibly mature and positive of Corrales.  I don't know that I would feel the same way given the fact that the race was a couple days ago.  I'd be salty a bit longer.  I think that is fantastic, too.

Long ride + T run in the books.  My legs aren't too terribly sore, so I hope tomorrow's long run goes well.  The long run is always the highest risk workout for me.

4 weeks until Cedar Point!  Woohoo!

Oh yes, I'm 6'1" and have a long torso. Very hard to find tops.

I had no idea you were so tall!  I bet you do have a hard time finding long tops.  I'm taller than average and all limbs, and most tri tops ride up on me.  So annoying!

Long run in the books.  Taking the kids to the lake later, and I hope to get an OWS in during rest breaks if the kids are behaving for my husband.  We'll see how that goes!

These are the entry fees for the 2013 IMNYC.  Also there are no Ironman Foundation slots, only general and premium.  I don't think goggles and a watch are worth $500.

Fees:

General: $1,200.00 USD
Premium Entry: $1,700.00 USD
Premium entries receive event branded goggles, watch and an extra banquet ticket

That's getting ridiculous if you ask me.

And I'm tired of the argument that keeps coming up that those living nearby don't have the expense of travel and a hotel...well no kidding! It's that way for ANY local at ANY event! That argument does not hold water to me.

Supply and demand dude.  If they don't sell out it might be cheaper next time.  That's not happening though.  Everyone I know who did that race yesterday said it was the most difficult run EVER BTW.

Long ride and T run for me today.  It's so hot here.  Half the ride felt good, the other half was a little hot, the run was brutal.

LOL at the branded goggles.

Um, yeah, I'll pass on that IM.  I don't care how glorious it is.  I'll pony up some serious cash for an international race one day, when my kids are older, but for NY?  Nah.

I don't understand?  Why the shorter cutoff?  All IM's are 17 hours.

Also, did anyone hear about the person that died during the swim?  What happened?

So when it rains, it pours!  That has been for most of my life and it continued that last week and this weekend.

Finally ponied up and went to ortho about my foot last Wednesday ... x-rays negative ... MRI negative.  Doctor has no idea what is going on with my foot and the MRI gave no indication either.  I was almost in tears in the Doctor's office I was so upset that after almost 3 months there is no answer.  So I ran yesterday ... 1.75 miles.  I figured there is no bone issue so I can't break it.  It was hard and it was great!  No residual issues so far.

Here's the pour part ... last night after I went to bed, I went down to the kitchen to do something and missed the last stair and fell ... ankle collapsed with all my weight on it.  Snap .... pop ... that was the sound I heard .... OMG!  It was disgusting and frightening.  I laid clutching my ankle for a few seconds and then crawled to the kitchen to call my neighbor.  She came over to calm me. Long story short, the swelling was minimal and the pain minimal as well. I can walk on it without too much discomfort.  Talked to a Doctor friend that had the same thing happen ... apparently when that happens the popping sound is the joint releasing the air space within the joint, dramatically like cracking a knuckle.  Thank GOD!  Yes, I still have an ankle sprain ... and now 2 bum feet!  As I said ... when it rains, it pours!

Someone send some good thoughts my way ... I could use them!

Oh Carrie!  I was so excited and then I read the second paragraph.

At least ankle sprains heal quickly.

There's a noise ordinance in NYC that does not allow for amplified sound after 10 p.m. so they are starting the race earlier (6 a.m., I believe) and having an earlier cutoff.

That is crazy ... and they have the New Year's Eve celebration there every year. That has got to upset the noise ordinance right? That is going to open the door for shortening the duration of other IM's I think.

Sorry to hear that Carrie - you are due for some good luck. (You too Kelly!)

I bet IMNYC sells out, and quickly. There are a lot of people willing to pay a lot of money for IM races.

Aren't there typically folks that sign up for an IM, just to get in before it sells out, and they may not even end up racing? I personally don't see doing that, but I think there are some that do. If they pay for 2 or 3 in a year, they can decide later which one they want to do.

NYC in general must be one of the more expensive IM events to put on, but is it that much more expensive?

Still not sold out.  The concept of waking up at 2:30 a.m. for a race is not appealing.

I'm sure NYE get an exemption.  Millions of people for NYE has a little more pull than 2500 for an IM.

17 hours is only the North American standard.  There are several races in Europe with 15 hour cutoffs.

IM NYC can keep there goggles and watch! That is a ridiculous price. Plus when I do an IM I want to do some where I haven't been before. Anyway I digress.BTW, I had my first run Saturday and was sore yesterday?! Really?! Sore from just a week off? I mean it feels good in a no pain no gain kind of way. So I took yesterday and moved furniture and storage bins out of our basement to get ready for the framing I will be doing to start finishing out basement. Hope everyone has a blessed day!

Carrie - I am sorry you sprained your ankle.  I hope it heals up quickly and you can test your feet with more running!

Recovery swim + recovery run for me today.  I went for an OWS yesterday, and the temperature of the lake is so much cooler than it was 2 weeks ago.  It's been pretty chilly around here.  I may need to wear the full sleeve for Cedar Point, and I have no experience wearing yet.  I'd better get on that.

Can anyone recommend sunglasses?  I was going to get a visor, but I hate wearing things on my head, so I thought I'd opt for the sunglasses instead.  Not too expensive, peeps.....ideas?
