The plan is to ride a 30 mile hilly loop and then run a hilly 3 mile loop - 3 times! Should be an interesting and crazy day! Sounds like fun if it weren't 100 degrees outside. |

It's supposed to get up to 95 tomorrow, but @ 7am it's supposed to be 72 with 87% humidity. That part will suck, but there's a big group doing various distances, with the 5 of us in IM training doing the whole thing. Then food and beer after. That's what I'll be focusing on. |

They are using TriTat's instead of body marking. Apparently this is a new thing? it is similiar to putting those cartoon tattoos on as kids. We need to put them on the day prior to the event, and can shower with them etc. interesting. They will have two types. One goes on the left calf, and that is your age Group, Clydesdale or Athena marking, then your number goes on the outside of your right lower leg and right arm. Is this new to everyone? I've seen them advertised. Never used 'em.
I wonder if you have to shave smooth the are they are applied on? |

Should be a blast, at least the food/beer part after will. |

We have 3 or 4 things EVERY weekend. Ack. Sitting here waiting on the sun to jump on the bike. Then we're going to the zoo, lunch, packet pickup, registration, grocery store, yard work. See what I mean? |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good morning, all! Recovery ride on trainer this morning and then an easy swim this afternoon. I did a longish brick workout yesterday. Lately I've been feeling a little unmotivated to train, so I wasn't feeling it when I hit the roads. I had a really great ride (nice and quiet out and saw some beautiful areas of east Cleveland), and my run went really well. I felt strong the entire time. My legs are tired today, so all efforts are easy. Last night my husband and I went out for sushi and beer. Then we saw Horrible Bosses. Really funny movie if you like that type of humor. Hanging with the kids at the pool after I get in the afternoon swim. Have a great Sunday afternoon! Edited by jarvy01 2011-07-31 9:20 AM |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Yesterdays triple brick was a lot of fun, despite the heat and thunderstorm! We started early and headed out for our first 30 mile loop with about 15 people including my husband. We decided to add on an extra 5 miles to the first two loops to hit an even 100 miles. Finished first 35 miles, pretty uneventful. Just humid. Next up was the 2.75 mile hilly loop around my friends neighborhood, and some of us added a couple of cul-de-sacs to get to an even 3 miles. (I like round numbers!) So far so good. Headed out on our next 35 mile loop. About 15 miles in I hit a pothole and heard a hissing sound. Crap, flat tire! I'm proud to say I changed the tire (back tire even) all by myself. I'm not very good at it, and it takes me a good half hour at home. But I'd say I was done in about 10 minutes. Off we went to finish the second loop. Here's where I really started to get tired. The hills were beating me down. Finished, and as I headed out on run loop 2 I asked my husband (who had done one bike & one run) to check my bike because it was kind of making a strange sound. When I got back from the 2nd run he informed me that I had put the wheel back on wrong and the tire was running my frame. So much that you could see the threads on the side. Okay, that explains why those hills coming back were so difficult! Here's where we changed things up. It was really hot out and some folks were overheating. We decided to do 2 15 mile loops so we could refuel and ice up in between. Off we went, my bike was rolling pretty good and I felt good again. Just as we got back it started pouring, thunder & lightening. We waited it out and ended up doing our 3rd run in the rain. Didn't go back out on the bike. We were short 5 miles from our original 90 mile plan, and 15 from the 100 mile goal. After we all hung out and had home brewed beer (the best porter I've had), boston butt, and all sorts of other good food and dessert. It was a good day! |

Pretty well acutally, not well enought to warrant a bike I guess, but better than I expected. Ride, zoo, packet pickup, lunch, and Clear Lake Oly registration done. Grocery store and yard work left. |

She didn't say have her pottie trained by the end of this weekend, she just said have her trained by the end of the weekend. maybe you can get her on a technicality?? ha I did 5 hours of yard work today, just catching up from being on vacation, and camping with the wife's sister and brother in-law this weekend. That was my ironman workout of the day!!! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Here are my totals for the month of July. Def had my best volume and more higher quality workouts. Bike volume increased, run stayed the same, and swim increased. I do know there will be significantly higher numbers than mine, so let's see them!!

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Back from my pre-ride. I'm glad I went and scouted that route for the Oly in September. The bike course is pretty damn tough for the first 16 miles. Never-ending rollers that are JUST long enough for you not to have enough momentum to get up the other side, so lots of shifting. The new cassette was a welcome addition, especially in the one short climb that is rumored to be 30%! I was thinking they were full of crap until I was on it. NASTY! 28 tooth rear and tacking from side to side to get up the bastard. Had fun, though. It was more of a leisurely ride, since Jay's wife came along and this was her third time on her new road bike (Specialized Dulce). She did great and completed her longest ride to date. She hated Jay after, but they will make up ![]() http://connect.garmin.com/activity/103207151 best part was we found a cool little dive taco place in Elephant Butte called Casa Taco. Pretty damn good, fresh food. I had some brisket tacos that were awesome! Then a long 2+ hr drive back home. I'm beat. |

I admit I just rode 11 miles on the trainer to hit 600 for the month. It was good to spin out my legs anyway, and I was so close. Run was good. Swim was more than last month but not what I had planned. Will do better this month! |
