Beautiful day, great trail, 2 falls, a banged up knee and a jacked up big toe.....hopefully it's better by next weekend....big big relay next weekend....my team gets lots of hours of me running.....go team go...... ON YOUR LEFT remember to keep me posted on official finish lines as they happen..... The full month of March challenge is to try to find something organized to do.....even if it is a 5k walk or a 10 mile family bike ride.....let's all try to do something organized. I know for some of you that might be tough with the weather but give it a shot....for those of you new to triathlon, I strongly recommend an indoor tri for practice.....Lifetime Fitness runs them all over the country for members and non members.....Chicago Parks and Rec run several....but I think they are in the suburbs instead of the city....so it may not be Rock on folks.....sTRIve |

I also want to say that I am so honored to be part of this great group of folks. When you become a mentor (and I hope next year, EACH one of you agrees to do it - they always need more mentors and you are all already more than qualified) you hope to get a good group of people. I don't deserve the great group I have....okay I do deserve you....but I am really, really glad you are all a part of this group. You understand that I cannot always be here, but the wicked smart team members here are all like "co-mentors" and I am so pleased to get to be part of this. You people all motivate me. I think I may be out of my right mind, since you are a biking freak, but hey, I'll die trying to beat you! We both do have a running handicap right now (though i think you are getting back into routine by now?), so this will help, and I need to find other ways to work out, if running will be limited for me... So, WE ARE ON, my friend!!! I think we should just do total points?? I plan to bike, swim and do yoga as much as I can. Not sure what is going on with running until I see the doc tomorrow. (oh, boy, what did I get myself into???) |

![]() | ![]() Morning all! Add another finish line Bryan. I ran the Hyannis 10K yesterday. I had originally signed up to do the 1/2 but couldnt, due to my back. They "let"me run the 10K but I dont get an official time. I ran with a lot of BT friends. Many of them were doing the 1/2. So at about 5 miles I just stopped and waited for them so I could cheer. Once they were all on their way I completed the 10K. I did run fast( for me) and I felt fine. I almost did the 1/2 but the little voice inside my head said "NO". I have a long year ahead of me ![]() Now that the olympics are over let the LRR challenge begin!!!! |

They threatened to take away our citizenship if we didn't What a game and what an amazing 2 1/2 weeks of sport. I watched the men's 50k (30+ miles) mass start cross country skiing race yesterday while riding my trainer. After 2+ hours of skiing it came down to a finish line sprint with top 5 finishers all within 1.5 seconds - amazing. As for hockey, hollywood couldn't write a better script. Canada up 2-0. USA claws back and ties it with 30 seconds to go. Sidney Crosby (aka "Sid the Kid"), youngest ever captain of a Stanley Cup winning team, scores in overtime to give Canada the gold and to make Canada the all-time winningest host country insofar as gold medals in a single olympics are concerned. I have never seen such an outpouring of Canadian pride and patriotism as has happened the last few weeks. Watched a lot of the NBC coverage actually. They do fantastic human interest stories. Awesome story yesterday about how a tiny Canadian town (Gander, Newfoundland) took in thousands of stranded passengers (mostly american) on 9/11 when the US skies were closed. Same happened in Halifax Nova Scotia. Mav - my wife/daughter just returned with quite the haul from a shopping weekend to Freeport, Me. Suffice to say it won't be hard to convince her to return in September for the Lobsterman Tri!! Not a great training week last week. 2 x 30 min run, 1 x 750m swim, 1 x 45 min cycle. Peter |

Second, Lena, I will be in Belize on a mission trip from March 5 through 14 so you will have a very one sided advantage, so you better use it before I get home! Third, awesome crosscountry ski event yesterday, even my wife was freaking out. Fourth, wouldn't want to lose to anyone other than Canada in the hockey game. Wonderful friends to the north. Okay Team - Walker is still trying to balance life and workouts, Billy is going to be out for a couple of weeks so it is up to the rest of us to pick up the slack and destroy the other team (in a friendly and cordial way of course). Obviously we don't want any injuries so be careful. I am now seven weeks from my HIM (oh lordy that seems to close) and this month should be a pretty good month for me. Plan calls for 36 hrs this month but I doubt I will make that but will get close. Wife and son will be home tonight, yeah! Okay folks, I need a little motivation. Running just doesn't seem to get me excited and I need some longer runs in this month. Probably going to max it to 9-10 miles as I want to keep my knee healthy. Its going to take everything I have to get my tail to swim practice today. Biking on the other hand I can't wait for a chance to get outdoors and ride. Burn out with 7 weeks left? TBH I believe I could finish the HIM today but now want to shoot for a better time, say sub 7hr maybe 6.5 hr. |

Damn life keeps getting in the way of all my working-out and computer life!!!! I have become addicted to spin classes and swimming. I can not get enough of either. If Pete, Mave and Bryan remember from 2 years ago, I promised (and Lestor doubted) that swimming would become my friend - and it has! I still am not fast (ave. about 2:10 to 2:15 per 100 on longer swims), but I truly love swimming now. However, I seem to have a mental block on running right now. I would rather do any other excersize than running. I did run last week and my calf started tightening up at about 2.5 miles. I slowed down and only got a total of 2.8 when I stopped. No lasting effects, but I was afraid of causing injury! I am starting to wonder if this is becoming a mental thing with me. Any suggestions?? (other than "Just Do It" a$$ wipe). There was rumor you were making fun of Mav on here and I see the rumors were true! GREAT JOB! Sorry I missed those couple of days ![]() Lena, GREAT cake & FBP GREAT Olympics! |

Much rather swim or bike, weird since I came from a running background. Over the weekend tried out the new XTerra wetsuit. Fit well, a tad bit tight feeling around the neck but nothing major. I remember this from my wetsuit/surfing days. No big deal. Ordered disc covers from WheelBuilder tonight. Had thought about renting wheels then decided I can just stick with the covers. Need to take the bike in can get it tuned up. Probably have them true the wheels then I will put the covers on. |

The March competition is about time not distance so make sure you track your time S/B/R or other sports so I can add up the totals. Will be fun! LRR - My plan is for each person on my team add up their total hours, round, then calc points based upon their total time. Alternatively I could add everyones (from my team) time up and calc points. OR for each person calc points for each individual sport. Any preference as I could see some different points totals depending upon which method? |
