I am not sure who here are Lance fans... Here is an interesting interview after hid leadville 100 mtn bike race win... talks about IM in the future "gettin' back to his roots" (TRIATHLON!)

Question.....when you feel yourself falling into a training rut (and, not saying that I am) what do you use as motivation/how do you motivate yourself to keep going and stick to your plan?

I would say it depends on the rut... If I'm having trouble going to workouts because I'm dead tired, I take a workout off.  If I have something I'd rather be doing, I'll do it... there aren't many things I'd rather do at 5am besides sleep and I don't count that as a good reason for me to miss a workout (unless I'm dead tired!). I also change up my work/workout schedule a little bit every few months to keep it interesting and also weather/sunlight reasons. If I'm really looking for motivation I remind myself of what I want to accomplish this year and look at race results

Happy Tuesday! I got an exciting email this AM... I've been contemplating what races to do next year and this popped in my inbox http://www.ironmansyracuse.com/

When you click on the link you'll see it's actually a 70.3 not an IM, I'm not that crazy My grandmother lives near Syracuse and I have a lot of close family friends up there so I think this might be a huge possibility for me.  Plus can you say nice running weather!?! Time for me to read up more on the race

Since it won't be a quality workout anyway, I generally take the time off.  Give myself some time to recharge and then I usually miss working out again.

I got the same email this morning!!  Was on my mind to post about it, but got distracted.  I've been thinking a lot about next season, and specifically whether or not to add another HIM to the schedule (note: although I may question it now, it's more than likely that I will....come the middle of winter I'm going to be itching for a HIM )  Anyway, once I saw this the gears really started turning   I think it could be a good possibility for me as well.

Ohh the joys of having a kid in HS. Too bad his mother was a goody goody in school and is clueless on his attampts of trickery. Doesnt that boy know who I am. I have forgoten more tricks and schemes about being sneaky and lazy than he will ever know.

Thanks!!  If nothing else, I can say for sure I won't make the same nutrition mistakes next time around which should hopefully make for a stronger day.

Sounds like the school year is off to a fun start!  Shenanigans already....that's pretty impressive.  Unfortuantely when I was in school, my mom was hip to pretty much all my games and schemes.  I never got away with anything.

Nothing wrong with being a goody goody!

Man this week is dragging.  Yesterday I thought it was Thursday.  You can imagine my disappointment when I realized it wasn't.

Happy hump day! I got my bike from back from the shop and got her all ready for the race last night. Got me excited, something about getting the bike ready flips that switch telling me racing is about to happen Race wheel and cover are on and ready to roll! It'll also be nice to have all my gears and brakes back... the past week I've only had a front brake and about 1/2 of the gears on the cassette because the cables were rusted so bad!

Haha at least you're around to lay down the law! My mom was also clueless, I didn't get away with much because of my father but my brother did since he wasn't in the house at the time. There's something about a mother thinking her child would never do such things

Happy Friday.....well, Friday for me at least   Off tomorrow and heading up to Boston for the long weekend.  So happy this week is almost over....feels like this week could not have gone by any slower!

I think I might have broken my pinky toe this morning.  I can walk which leads me to believe it's not broken.  But it's the pain is awful and getting worse.  Also swollen, black & blue, hurts down the side of my foot and at the base of the next toe    My coffee table jumped out and smashed my toe....or I suppose I could have maybe walked into it.  I hit my toe pretty damn hard....and I'm fairly certain my neighbor heard me loud & clear when I yelled 'oh f&%k!'.

Ha, happy Friday for me too...  I made that decision this morning   Taking tomorrow off for me... I need a break, and what better time to do it than on a long weekend.

'Please come to Boston...' lol!  sorry, I like that song... Have fun and enjoy ~ totally jealous BTW!

Eric, you are gonna have a great race ~ I smell a PR!!!  I haven't looked at the weather forecast, does it look like this weather is gonna hold or maybe even improve for the weekend?  Have fun and rock that beeeeoootch!

Nicole & Todd ~ what's up any fun plans for the long weekend?  I am not doing anything 'fun'... just making the time for some long training, working Sat, Sun & Mon evenings at second jobs.  Padding my Florida trip account, so that is about it.  I might hit the theater on Friday evening with the youngest to see that 'slayers', gamer movie thing... We will see.

OUCH!!!  Rub a lil' dirt on it, it'll be okay...   While in Boston, copious amounts of fermented beverages should dull the pain!  *cheers*  (seriously, I hope you are okay - that could put a damper on the running - so I hope it isn't hurt for too long!)

Thanks! The weather keeps flipping back/forth between 68-74 at 7AM and a high of 92-97.  My fingers are crossed for that 68F!

I'm jealous of you/Kelli's day off, enjoy it!

Kelli- You need to weight that furniture down some to keep it from jumping around so much

All I can say is what a bunch of slacking lollygaggers that are off tomorrow. Can you hear the jealousy in my voice?

Hummm rouge coffe tables on the loose. Attacking inocent victums by purposly thowing themselves into the oncoming path of bare feet. Scary times for us all. Wear shoes!!!

Happy Friday!  (you know, for all of us with jobs who don't get arbitrary days off of work...

I've missed you all this week, work is killing me here lately.

But something super exciting is about to happen (will post once it's official) with my job, so hopefully I will have a little more training and BT time soon.

Have a great holiday everyone!
