Intervals on the bike and t run this a.m.  My husband bought me a small flat screen for my workout room, and I have to say I love it!!!!  I get to watch any shows I want on demand.  Started Showtime's Homeland this morning.  Interesting...

Nice! My training area doesn't exist right now because this weekend we start the build out of our basement. However, when it is finished I will have music and tv down there

DDVMM - 2012-08-14 12:12 PM Larkin!!! How awesome!! Congrat! Did you ride her yet?

I only did a test ride near the shop which happened to be by the W&OD trail so it was enough to get a decent feel. I rode it and a Trek SC 7.2 but liked the Felt better plus the price difference was HUGE! I LOVE IT! I hope to go on a 'real' ride today to put her through some work. I get an official fitting next week but the non-FIST guy was nice enough to get me setup so I could ride it till next week

carrie639 - 2012-08-14 9:33 AM Nice bike! Why do bikes need names?

All bikes need names.  Mine is purr purr chomp (all my tri bikes are purr purr chomp).

My bike is called Mankey.  I was going to custom order a decal of Mankey, but decided to give it that name instead.  It will always remind me of this period of my life and my first 2 years of triathlon.

My kids are obsessed with Pokemon.  We have the figures, cartoons, cards, balls, etc.  Mankey is an obscure Pokemon character - half monkey / half pig.  Pig because my husband and my kids call me that for all my slovenly ways.  Monkey because I love them (and I want to have the ability to hurl poop at people who try to run me off the road while I'm on my bike).

I'm trying to find some road races to run in October and November.  I always do the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving (the years we are with Kevin's family, that is).  Why aren't there more 10k races out there?  I hate 5ks, and there are plenty of those.

See there are a ton of 10k races here.  No halfs/fulls until November really due to the heat.

My bike's name is Stealthy.  If you watch Once Upon a Time on ABC he's the 8th dwarf but gets killed.  Really wish I had ghosted decals on the ride.

No half/fulls here after October due to the frigid temperatures and 2 feet of snow we get every day.  I'd love to do a full mary some time, but I would have to travel to somewhere warm so I could do it during the winter months.

Right now my bike has a pikachu decal, a mockingjay decal, and a stark direwolf (shaun would not let me change the bikes name to sexy jon snow although he was ok with nymeria).

I'm totally flying my dork/nerd/geek flag.

I'm looking at doing a custom hedgehog and the number 179 as well.  I figure as long as all the decals are in white/matte silver it still looks classy.

A stark direwolf, eh?  Team Daenerys here.  I love Khaleesi, and I have always been obsessed with dragons.

Up early for a swim - the over/under 3 x 1000 workout again.  I actually really dig this training session, even though I am exhausted when I get out of the pool.  It's a good fatigue.

Do you go all out for the HIM swim?  Or do you swim comfortably?

Heading out to Cedar Point on Saturday for an OWS clinic with a focus on sighting and rounding buoys, a 56 mile bike ride, and a 4 mile run with the Cleveland Triathlon Club.  I'm excited that I will be able to preview the course.  I'm reading lots of stuff about the wind there, and after my fail at the Cleveland Triathlon, I'm trying not to let it toy with my mind.  It's only supposed to be a high of 65 on Saturday, so I am concerned that I am going to be freezing on the bike.  I'm heading out to buy a cycling jacket or something like that later today.  My birthday is on Saturday, and I'm pretty bummed about it.  If I'm turning 34, does that mean I race 35-39 for USAT events next year?  Bah.

Another August B-day, greatest month of the year! I turn 34 this month as well! Yea we both will be in the 35-39 age group now. 35 is the new 25 though right?

That is great you will get to check out the course! I am sure you are excited!

But I like racing 30-34  I feel old.  I have a morbid view of birthdays, and my husband says I'm completely negative about it every year, so just ignore me.  LOL

Anyway, Happy Birthday to you, too!!!!

Thanks!! Age is all in the head for me. Some days are worse than others haha! My wife says I am about 12 yrs old most days LOL. Of course I felt like the old guy in the 30-34 age group. Next year I look at it as I will be the young whipper snapper in the age group.

Well hope you have a non-morbid birthday and you can enjoy your weekend!

Jen I had the 3 x 1k over/under workout for the first time on Monday.  I liked it too.  Kept me from getting bored.  I am thinking that I'm just going to find some feet to sit on for the first 1k of the HIM swim in Nov and then start pushing the pace a bit.

Hill repeats today.  Really wanted to puke after #4.  Loved it!  Sick I know.  Reminded me of squat day from another lifetime.  You'd have to bring a puke bucket with you to the squat rack.

Honestly I'm itching to get a disc one for the performance aspect and two because a buddy of mine is lead outside sales rep at a firm that does custom decals.  I've seen them do decals to make aero helmets look custom too.

I would get a disk cover first (I know you want the decals).  A cover will run you about $100 rather than the closer to $1000 that a disk wheel will cost.

All out intervals on the bike this morning and then some fast running later today.  Taking the kids to the park and pool for a few hours midday.  The combination of sun, heat, and hard training sessions should make me feel fantastic tonight!  Heck, maybe I'll even have the energy to stay up until 10.  LOL

I went to get another pair of Brooks Ghost 4s (around 415 miles on the pair I'm using now), and they've changed the model again. I got a pair of Ghost 5s, but I'm concerned.  If I don't like the changes, then I have to shop around again.
