Hey Hey Hey! Hope everyone had a great weekend! Looks like most of you did! Jen, good to hear this weekend went well. You are SO ready! As for me I did not train unless you count training on how to frame walls. I spent the whole weekend framing our basement out. 10 hour days of cutting, hammering, carrying wood. It was a decent workout haha! Got to get back running this week. I have my officaly fitting today on the new bike. Really hoping it gets dialed in. I am a little uncomfortable in the shoulder area and feel like I slide to far forward sometimes and feel like I am pushing back with my hands and forearms. Have a great day everyone!

DDVMM - 2012-08-20 9:05 AM Happy Birthday Jen!! Sounds like a great training day Saturday! You will be so ready for your big race!I had a great race yesterday. The hills were killer but a fun challenge. Leaving at the shore we have no hills so it was hard, but a good hard. Well organized race and a fun day. We are now off to the outer banks of NC. Family vaca time!!!

I know you are busy packing up your family for vacation time, but we need more race details.  I didn't even know you had a race!  Tell us more.....

She did Irongirl in Maryland.  Wicked tough course (the bike course is the same as most of the Columbia Tri bike course), up and down all day with very few flats.

Z2 intervals on the bike this morning followed by a t run.  I am so sick of my body feeling like it's broken down.  Something is sore or stiff every. single. day.  I know an end is in sight, but I feel so over it today.  I feel like a rag doll.....throw me around and punch me some more.

Enough whining....I'm sure it's normal to feel this way toward the end.  It doesn't exactly feel fun right now  I know I will miss this training a few weeks after Cedar Point.  That's what happened last year after my final triathlon of the season.  Then depression set in, knowing it would be a loooooong winter of training in the dreadful basement.  LOL

Ah but looking up and seeing a time under 5:30 in Cedar Point will make it all worth while.  Oh and you should have moved by me if you wanted to train year round.

Bike got dirty yesterday with the rain bringing home from the fitting so before any pics I need to clean  I found I need a new saddle. Need to look around. I liked the Adamo Racing saddle. Leaning more forward makes you appreciate a nicer saddle. Fitter said my pelvis will turn more down and allow me to be even more aero and comfortable once I can switch. Until then I am set up a little more high to stay comfortable. Any other seats ya'll think I should look at?

5:30????? A girl can dream  I'm aiming for 5:45, Scott.  That would make me happy.  After estimating when I'll likely come in from each of the legs, it seems doable.

If I come in under 5:30, it means I magically learned to run somewhere along the way.  Miracles do happen; right?  LOL

I couldn't take the humidity in Texas, Scott (or the politics...LOL).  I am jealous that you get to run a winter marathon though.  Wish I could find one around here, but I'd be slogging through 2 feet of snow.

Its a weird hybrid.  .6 mile swim, 14 mile bike and 3.6 mile run.

You saw what I thought for Cedar Point for you -- 5:45.  The trick is going to be holding back enough on the bike so you can run the entire run.

I'm not letting Scott know what I think about Oilman (yet).

I love my Cobb saddle.  It has almost 10,000 miles on it and its still going strong.

Hey Jen - it was between the two - 0.65 mile swim, 17.5 mile bike and 3.5 mile swim. It was so hilly - much hillier than I ever expected. I loved it though! I would be going 33 mph down a hill and brought to 8 mph on the ups. Many people were walking their bikes up the hills but I refused. I never shifted so much! I need much more low cadence work though to build those muscles. The run was hilly too - just ups and downs all day. Fun though!!

I don't have problems with my sit bones, but my front area still hurts after a while. Kelly, do you think a Cobb saddle would help?

You're already obsessing, Scott  Come on, Kelly.  What is Scott's time goal for Oilman???

Kelly - Yes, I did see that you have 5:45 for me, and I agree that it's the perfect goal for my first HIM.  Swim can be difficult if the water is rough, and I haven't seen the run course but know it's rollers.  We'll see.

I was looking at last year's results for my age group.  There were women in the top 5 who had 38/39 minute swims.  Doesn't that seem slow for a top 5 AG slot?  It does to me.  I was actually surprised to see that most of the swims were in the upper 30s.  Is that normal for a HIM distance swim?

Also, does Rev 3 have athlete tracking?  Curious for my family.

Larkin - Great pics!  I know nothing about proper bike fit, so I can't comment on that, but I have to say your little one is a cutie!!!  That pic made me smile

I also have to say - WTH???  I am the only one still struggling with my modest little road bike???  Everyone else has nice tri bikes?  Man, I'm jealous!!!!!!!

Agree with Jen on the know nothing about fit, but cute little one. (My "little one" now stands 6'7", I sure miss those early years.)

Jen - sometimes I'd rather be on a road bike. Depends on where you're riding, and what course you're racing. A friend of mine has a road bike and debates on whether to get a tri bike. She holds her own on her road bike (which you do too from what I've read from your rides/races) so she's holding off for now.

You saw what I thought for Cedar Point for you -- 5:45.  The trick is going to be holding back enough on the bike so you can run the entire run.

I'm not letting Scott know what I think about Oilman (yet).

Good.  I don't need something to obsess over for 2+ months.  LOL

Actually I'm just hoping it cools off a little for this Oly in September.  Then I'll worry about goal times for Oilman.  I also have to keep reminding myself that I'm training for a HIM while doing sprints and Olys.  I train with/around folks not going longer until next year and they do a boat load of speed work to try and podium in the shorter local races.  Sometimes I get to questioning if I should be doing some of the same, but just remind myself that after September the only races I'm paid up for are HIM and longer.

Oh and Larkin the setup looks nice.  Nice and aggressive.  Seat might be a touch too high IMO as it looks like your leg gets too straight towards the bottom, but I could be wrong.  I'd be interested to see if they'd set you up any different for long course.  I know I can hold my current front end over a HIM, but I might have it looked at going into IMTX to see if making it a little less agressive might be more prudent.

Thanks Scott! Yea I need to get a new saddle. The FIST fitter thinks that will change a couple of things. He actually thinks with a new saddle it will be a little more powerful and I can drop even more on the bars, based on comfort of course. Now I need to find a local place that allows saddle demos.

Also do you or anyone use an aero bottle on the frame? I have one that I heard I was getting for my birthday for between the bars. However, I found the profile design aero frame bottle for $30 on sale no tax, free shipping.
