oooh getting close!!! I'm going to tentatively get excited for team POYL *quiet snicker*

Hey, I also wanted to mention.. i really like how we did the scoring this time around by the TIME logged, not distance. Some ppl are faster and some are slower (myself), and i think it's more fair if we the score time invested into the workouts I vote for keeping the scoring system as such for future challenges... just my .02...

Billy, probably won't make it.  I have to take my son over to the church (the confirmands from the area are having a meeting with the Bishop) and I have a 5k Sat morning.  Would love to make the meeting and ride but I just don't think I can do it.

Got my bike back from the shop yesterday.  Not 100% sure about this shop, I had asked about checking the chain when I dropped it off.  Pick up "Lady" and ask about the chain.  Mechanic says "Yeah, your going to need one soon as there is a lot of slack in this one".  Um, uh, wasn't this part of why I took the bike in?  He put on a new chain and it shifts fantastic.

Put my disc cover from Wheelbuilder.com on last night.  Fairly easy as long as you have the tools to take off your cassette (which I did).  Only major downside is that it blocks the magnet on your spoke for your bike computer/sensor.  I guess you could mount it on the cover itself.  Once I retrieve mine (I forgot to take it off, oops) I am just going to mount it on my other wheel.

As Mav reminded me, one month to my HIM!!!

I still need' Bryan's training time for the competition.  Bryan, are you out there?

Is it not the best feeling when you put a something on that you haven't fit in to for a long time and they feel great.  Great job Diane.  That is what motives me.

Lena, good luck on the half marathon on Sunday.

Bill, glad you made it back safe but Lena is still going to smoke you!Tongue out

My oldest daughter turns 8 today.  Where did all the time go so far.  I taught her how to rollerblade last night.  She loves it.  Guess we are going back to the store today to get those for her birthday.  It was that or a dog.  I chose the easier of the two.

5:30 on  Friday night and I am just about to pack up for the evening and head home. It has been a LONG week spent in bargaining - 4 days bargaining with the union that represents our Teaching Assistants and 3 days bargaining with my son and a car dealer for the purchase of a used Honda Accord. Happy to report that both went well - we are getting close to a deal on the former and I closed the deal on the latter - a 2002 Accord EX Coupe (2-door) with 90,000 miles on it. Leather interior, power everything, moon roof, etc. Far too nice a car for a 19 year old!!

It has been a non-training week for all intents and purposes. Managed a swim on Monday but that's it. I am absolutely committed to getting in a couple of runs this weekend. If the weather continues to be fine I may even pull the mountain bike out of the shed and go or a spin. Still too early for the roadie.

By the way - it's maple syrup time in this part of the world. The trees are tapped and the cold nights and warm days get the sap running, its collected and then boiled down until it becomes the nectar of the gods. For those of you in the south who have never had the chance to visit a "Sugar Bush" or "Sugar Shack" and try maple taffy - the warm syrup poured onto a bed of snow and then rolled up as it hardens onto a stick - you can't imagine what you're missing!!!

... one month from today Mrs FBP and I will be en route to Florida where we will board the Crown Princess for a 7 day cruise to the Western Caribbean as an early 25th anniversary celebration. Yabba dabba doo!!!

Have a great weekend y'all

FBP

Pete, your week sounds like mine... I spent a few days negotiating a sale/purchase of MY car... I ended up getting a 2004 SAAB convertible - ALL bells & whistles... and for Half the price of the car I traded in!!!

Still trying to raise money for Team in Training - I hate to ask here... but then again, today I'm offering to MATCH FUNDS - so I thought I'd give you all the opportunity to donate if you want.

donate here: http://pages.teamintraining.org/snv/ambbr10/cardholic

I will donate $10 for every donation of $20 or more and $20 for every donation of $50
or more... up to $500 of my own money! So, if you were thinking of donating,
and haven't gotten around to it... take advantage of matching funds today!

Not much else goin on... got 2 long rides planned for this weekend...

HELP  - what do you think??

I signed up for the Torch Relay for Corporate Challenge because NO ONE ELSE from our whole company (over 1000 employees) signed up to run it - they need 3 runners... I thought it was about 1/4 mile... but I found out it's 3/4 mile...

I haven't run since October... but, I've been riding my bike, so I know I CAN do it, but SHOULD I do it? I'm pretty sure my shin splints are all healed, but I don't want to re-injure... do you think a 1 time VERY slow run will hurt?

Diane - run it

Skinny jeans ROCK!!!!

sorry I have been MIA.  I was in NY all week, my mother went to the hospital on Wednesday morning, I got home at 1am last night....went to the office at 5 this morning and to the hospital at 10 for the rest of the day....she is doing okay and I think she will get released tomorrow....I just want her to be better....

My times for the 1-14.....5:15 running, 4:30 riding and 1:30 swimming.....

do we win, do we win, do we win?????? I so wanna do the in ya face dance....

Mav - there is a tri expo at MIT I think this weekend...look into it....Michael Folan, president of Infinit is going to be there....go see him and talk about your formulation...I think he can help you LOVE infinit......

one month to a half ironman....holy toledo, batman......seriously, you are ready....you will have a great day....it is about execution now....be very careful in the last two weeks not to overtrain.....rest.....rest....rest.....the hay is in the barn.  This weekend or next should be your last race rehearsal.....get in a short swim if it is convenient, then hit it for a 3-3.5 hour ride and run about 45 minutes....practice the transitions and wear and eat EXACTLY what you plan to wear and eat at the event.....EXACTLY.....then you will have confidence it works on race day.....by the way, this also means practice the pre-race meals...the night before and morning of....I know - you gotta get up real early to do it the morning of at least three hours before the start.....suck it up, buttercup, there is no whining in half ironman.....get your a(&$$^ outta bed....I would also like to hear your full race plan....from get up and eat, to laying out transition, to how long the swim will take, to T1 plan, to how long you estimate on the bike, to T2 and then what pace you would like to run.....if you put it up here - we can critique it and then we can also check your actual execution....

I am glad to be back folks....hopefully this calms down some...wow....

happy birthday to all those kids....I didn't realize how cold it must be in June in some parts of the country.....

Mav - I think we should let the group vote on whether you should let me coach you through IMAZ.....been thinking of some diabolical workouts for you......LOL
