Very brave of you to run in 33F weather . The organizers send out an e-mail today that they raised 20K with the turkey trot!!! And I got only out in this weather, because I already registered and paid! And honestly, after half of the race it didn't feel that cold anymore.... I had way too many layers on! |

Looks like the Pumpkins will have it - who else? Apples 72.74% Pecans 74.94% Pumpkins 82.90% Okay PECANS, this week is going to count!! WE CAN DO IT! I am still short a couple of miles, but I am planning on 4 miles tomorrow and then 5 to 6 miles on Thursday and I that gets me to 100%! GO PECANS GO!!! |

Master 2665 The Whites, New Hampshire | Subject: RE: Pecan Team - Just Wanna Run - November We can do this! We're not too far behind! Just think of all the PIE we will have earned.... I cranked out a GREAT run today. Felt awesome until the last ten minutes when my knees said STOP! I told them to HTFU and kept pushing. Good mental training (and I made sure I didn't push too hard). This will be kind of an intense week playing catch up, but I WILL get to 100% if it kills me! |

Master 2665 The Whites, New Hampshire | Subject: RE: Pecan Team - Just Wanna Run - November Okay, team, I've made signs for us to wear for our turkey trots - lemme know if you like them! I made them half-page size so they could get pinned under your race number, or if you get all fancy, ironed on to a t-shirt. I made a grayscale one and a color one. They aren't too fancy, but it should get some conversation started! Master 2055 Santa Clarita | Subject: RE: Pecan Team - Just Wanna Run - November Slugger I (heart) the TT Logos . I will try and print one out to wear for my turkey trot . Our TT is a fun run with no numbers or timing or anything like that . Just a fun run . My conversation starter is usually how little clothes i wear . Everyone else here is wearing tights , hats , gloves , sweatshirt , etc. You know : it gets "cold" in Southern California . |

Sometimes its good to be already committed as it gets you out the door . Then once you get going you actually enjoy it. Plus like most race fundraisers its for a great cause .
My upcoming " Conquer the Beast " race is raising ca$h for the local food pantry .
If i had any sense i would switch to do the Santa Monica 10 k instead . Its Longer race but will be so much less painful !!! |

Master 2665 The Whites, New Hampshire | Subject: RE: Pecan Team - Just Wanna Run - November Glad y'all like the logos. Can't wait to see pics of everyone wearing them. It is supposed to be downright HOT for my TT - 38-ish. Not sure how I'm going to dress for it... They haven't decided on (or announced, anyway) the charity yet. It's donation by choice. I kinda wish it were bring a can as I'd donate a 20 pound turkey, but oh well. Got a short 20-30 min jog out planned for the morning before a full day of two doc appts, grocery shopping, cooking, liquor store, laundry, liquor store (in case I run out!), and maybe even some sleep. Should be fun! Grocery shopping on the day before TG is always the BEST idea. |

My toes were all blue and frozen..... Any advice on how that can be avoided?? No running today, but tomorrow the virtual TT with you guys... I am looking forward to it!! I did my grocery shopping yesterday, but I have to get new tires today, do laundry, general cleaning and so on.... YEAH!!!! |

Master 2055 Santa Clarita | Subject: RE: Pecan Team - Just Wanna Run - November Did my XC hill workout without getting rained on today . then hit Trader Joe's (grocery store) at 9 AM for milk and that was almost another workout . It was packed ! at 9AM !
My advice for the cold toes but wear two pairs of socks . I wear ski gloves and a wind beaker on the bike when its below 50F . Hockey gloves are warmer but not too handy with the brake/shifters .

Brrrr Yes thats cold for a bike ride and its not very rewarding at all to pick up the pace as it makes you even colder . I have a turtle neck i use when i ski that comes in handy with the ski gloves . |

Master 2201 Elgin, | Subject: RE: Pecan Team - Just Wanna Run - November Happy Thanksgiving Guys. I am off to a 4 mile Turkey Trot. Lets see if I can win my age group, which I doubt since I haven't been 100% for the last month of running or so. Side note, I was asked by the Commanding Officer of the building I work in to run with him in a team for the Trans Rockies Run 2009. 6 days or about 110 miles. I am very excited about it. I think getting asked to run this race is exactly what I needed to get excited about running again. Guess I have 9 months to train for the longest race I have ever participated in. |

Expert 919 Greenville, SC | Subject: RE: Pecan Team - Just Wanna Run - November HAPPY THANKSGIVING PECANS!!! Just coming back from a little 3.4 mile around the block virtual turkey trot for the team PECANS. Photos from it are in my album, I won't even try to post them in the thread because that never works for whatever reason. I could even recruit BF as an extra nut! With this, I am at 100% of my November running goal! And now I am ready for some serious Thanksgiving dinner! |

Master 2055 Santa Clarita | Subject: RE: Pecan Team - Just Wanna Run - November Happy Thanksgiving everyone..... Turkey run is in the book , we had a good turnout , I brought one of my dogs , about 10 dogs 40 kids 60 adults of varying age and fitness showed , the XC course was soft with rain last night and reported in at 6.4 miles per Garmin , Brings me to within 5 miles of my goal . Planning a real bike ride on the road tomorrow . I have been on the gym trainer all this month and always post run with tired legs. |
