So...a quasi-dilemma...actually, a "should I be miffed"?

I'm signed up to do a tri on 6/1 - just a mini-sprint at the Y across the street from my house. It was the 2nd tri I ever did last spring, and I kinda wanted to do it to see how much I've improved.

Sugar Daddy wants to get tickets to the Stanley Cup finals - seeing as how (knock on wood) our team is going to make it in and the teams they have the option of playing are 4-6 hours away. Unfortunately, it looks like (at this point) the games will interfere with that weekend.

Should I feel bad that I'm a little irritated? I know the SC finals opportunity (with all things confluencing at once - time/team/location/Monkey schedule) is a must-take, but I'm still miffed.

Well, he WANTS to get tickets, right? Meaning that he hasn't actually GOTTEN them? In other words - he asked your opinion firstT?

In that case, the ball is in your court. You get to make the decision. So if that's the case, then nope, no miffed-idness. (I am my own dictionary, and I hereby declare it a word.)

Now, if he had gone ahead and just GOTTEN the tickets and said, "Hey I know you're busy that day, but look what I got!" Well, then you could be miffed.

Jeni - Congrats on the great race! Sounds like you had a wonderful time

Dee - You are baaaack!!!! (I hope you're not just teasing us! )

Judi - glad you had a beautiful run this morning (beautiful and run in the same sentence, I'm still sort of getting used to that concept - hehe)

Pam - the metabolism may not have been sparked, but let's not forget that you bought size 6 clothes

Kendra - looks like you had all the permission to leave early today - so I hope you did!

Jen - bleh, and double bleh on the barium based liquids! I hope they figure out something soon!

Heather - My vote is mural as well (if you have to make a choice) - I HATE seeing myself in the wall to wall mirrors when I'm spinning (not that my vote will mean much of course - lol)

Sal - sounds like you had a great race as well, you traveling much these days?

Kristen - I can totally understand your dilemma - at least you are having to choose between two good things, right?

Cat - Have fun in the meeting - (if that's possible )

Scott - Haven't we already covered this topic? Hang out with the people that you find supportive, and don't try and engage or change those that aren't - oh and nice shirt, and the pic of the feet is still gross

YAY! Nibbs Notes!

Spokes - 2008-05-12 2:00 PM I am toying with starting my own website for those that suck, but race, and do whatever kind of racing they want to do, rather than a triathlon specific-site. There's really no place here for non-tri folks - say those like me that prefer dus or single sport races.

I can see that. No one really talks about duathlons or single-sport events. Personally, I think they are just as important. I kind of like the single-sport stuff. I think part of it is who you know around here. Some people don't support that, but all of the people here have been.

Well, it seems like the site has gotten too competitive, you know?

I mean, you've got slowtwitch.com if you want to be competitive, but even over there are groups of people who do this for fun and to stay in shape, not to crush other people in a race that really doesn't mean anything.

Well... I mostly hang out here (Challenge forum), and it doesn't seem really competitive. Yes, there is competition between the teams, but it's not "negative." Actually, there isn't even a lot of smack talk between teams right now. And the teams themselves are really good at supporting their members. If you do a good workout, they cheer you on, etc.

the mentor groups too are another great element... same type of support, motivation etc

Yes, the mentor groups are good for support and motivation, and just gaining "knowledge." Plus, since you get to chose a group, you can select one in that has the attributes that you want.

I guess with the flipped seasons there wont really ever be anything set up that works for my season....

Actually the mentor groups are definatley defined by the 'team leader' in so many ways... I think like personalities attract like s if you chose someone who has attributes you like it will be a good experience
