All the ones I volunteered for! I liked being the only "running Marshal" in Camp Randall one year, but it was freaking hot that day, and the UW just finished up with the new field which is made of turf with heat conducting black rubber, and there's little wind! I liked helping out directing people, doing weigh-in, doing registration, but most of all, a finish line catcher and bike handling in T1! K had fun working with Lisa in T2(?). T2 was great. It's a critical time in the race so you see every emotion possible. I loved the change tent because I felt like I really got to help these women and be part of their day. |

I have 3000m to swim tonight. If this delay continues, I can tell you right now it isn't going to happen. I really don't feel like being in the pool until 10pm and home at 11. This is why I hate letting workouts wait until the evening. I may just bag it and go home and do tomorrow's bike and do today's swim tomorrow. My coach frowns on this, but unfortunately I have to work and they don't particularly care that I have to swim. I'd be pulling my hair out if I were you. Good luck juggling the schedule! Hopefully most of my training can be in the morning to avoid this. But it will happen from time to time. I have to work and this is the business I'm in so I have no choice. Oh well. I drink to make up for it! heh a woman after my own heart I'm working my way through a serving now.... nice! how's the new gig going? It's great. It's a massive job, it really hit me yesterday just how big it is, but I know I'm capable. The team is really happy to have me and that makes a big difference. The hours are long, but I knew that going in. They're definitely not even close to the longest hours I've worked in this business. I did 9 hours M-Wed and 11 and change today. |

I could get used to that, but better not. I have a big swim tonight, a little over 3,000. That will be my peach for the day! What's the setup - yards or meters? One pool is yards, one is meters. The pool tonight was meters. I think I'll do it in the yards pool tomorrow though. It's closer. |

Who's idea was that? There needs to be more sick and vacation days. I get 20 vacation days and since I have no life due to the IM I'm thinking of taking off another day per week for my busiest month of training this summer. I've requested a chat with my coach to find out when it would be best. That means I'd only work 3 days a week for awhile. That would be so nice. |

Pro 4608 Brooklyn, NY | Subject: RE: Team Peep Show - The Sequel disturbed275 - 2009-03-05 5:48 PM I'm still wavering on whether or not to volunteer at IM MOO this year. I want to do an Ironman next year and that's the closest one. The only problem is that it is on the same date as the Iowa-Iowa State football game. There are several problems with this: 1. I am a die hard hawkeye fan and missing this game is a BIG deal. 2. The game is being played in my back yard. 3. I have a ton of friends who return to Ames just for this event, some of whom I'm lucky to see even once a year 4. I missed the last game that was in Ames due to being in a frickin wedding (Seriously this guy is a huge football fan. A lotta people were pissed. We caught the fourth quarter from the limo, but it wasn't the same) 5. I still catch grief for for missing that game to this day. 6. I still catch grief for missing other televised Hawkeye games last year due to training and/or racing.
No contest in my opinion. The IM experience is way better than anything I've ever done. I was out there from 6am to midnight and was actually sad it was over. You should do it! |
