LORA. oh, im all about the kids being G-O-N-E during the summer. i love them DEARLY, dont get wrong, and we spend lots of time together at the pool and on our boat. its just three BOYS together with nothing to do for hours on end over the summer that just equals PANDEMONIUM. and im not one of those super suburbanite moms who plans endless activities for their kids. i throw them out in the yard and expect them to entertain themselves! though im grateful they have a good circle of friends and they spend most of their time outdoors/in the woods and all three of them love to read and play board/card games when the weather is crappy. theyre definately better off when theyre OCCUPIDO (i am too) and its interesting that you describe being clipped as feeling claustrophobic, i got the same sensation early on. its just that panicked feeling of not being in complete control, that your 'stuck' and you cant get out. awful anxiety.....and here i thought i was the only one that felt this way. interesting, indeed. |

A girl from the tri club I just joined just gave me her old mountain bike shoes. (I'll eventually need to get tri shoes, but these'll be great to start with.) I have mtn bike pedals/shoes on my roadie. The LBS told me it is the easiest pedal to learn with so I went with it. That was a year ago. I would like to upgrade to some road pedals/shoes but they are so EXPENSIVE! So, I stick with my mtn ones for now. |

Yay for summer camp! I need to sign my crew up too. I just need to decide how many sessions I want them to go for. Our town's parks and rec department has the best summer camp deal going. It's $50 for each two week session. For my pre-k dude, it's half day but for the older kids, it is from 8-3. You can't beat it! They had a great time last year and will be going for at least one session this year. ETA: Summer TOPpage! Edited by ebshot 2009-04-06 3:55 PM |

ERICA. i seriously need to move to your town for the summer. our camps are ridiculously expensive compared to yours....it cost just as much to put my kids in summer as it does to rent our condo for vacation! i guess the figure people will pay it, but still.....a lot people use the summer camps as summer childcare so sometimes i can be a challenge to get them in. in the end its money well spent. my oldest son has gone to the same camp, the same week no for 5-6 summers so he's gotten to know the staff and the campers. this is his last year at camp. next year, if he wants to, he can be a CIT. wouldnt that just be a kick in the pants? actually i think he would do really great. the week that he goes to has a outdoor theme - so they fish, and hike and canoe. its pretty cool. the other one is Harry Potter, and he's all about Harry Potter. i grew up going to Y day camp and have SO many fond memories, so when it came to sending my kids to summer camp it was a no-brainer. plus the house will be quiet - it worked out that at least one of them will be gone for three of the weeks. that always makes it easier. WHAT an adventure!! my middle son has a heart condition and he would FREAK out everytime that we would get a echocardiogram done (NOTHING invasive, NOTHING painful) they'd always end up having to give him something.... i'd always ask if they'd give ME something [i was the one having to hold him down, even got kicked in the head once], they'd always say NO. hmpf, indeed! glad in the end it worked out, and cole's no worse for the wear, not bad if he got to play legos (my oldest LOVES lego) and got a new dino out of the deal. |

That's a refreshing perspective you've got about your kids, frankly. I think you can love your kids without wanting to be around them 24/7. That's good to know I'm not the only one who feels like being clipped in is similar to feeling clautrophobic. I felt that way about swimming initially so I know that, like swimming, with practice I'll get over it. Thanks for the encouragement! |

Champion 6225 | Subject: RE: X-Men HI EVERYONE. ill scroll back through and respond to other posts, just wanted to get my trng session gab on here first. we'll it was a TRIATHLETIC TRIFECTA today....this was the first endurance ive done (non-brick...) but im SO glad that i did my workout this way, today. first things first, I FELT FANTASTIC, which a HUGE shot in the arm. im gonna ROCK that mini at the end of April nodoubtaboutit. you know, you always have that nagging feeling [i do anyway] am i ready? am i gonna SUCK? put all that self-doubt to rest after todays workout, that's for sure. i did 60 mins of spin, then originally i thought id swim and then run, but i ended up running first and then swimming. the swim was a great to end a long workout. spin was a burner, but totally awesome! i only wish i could have been outside on my bike, but what w the snow on the ground....plffft. my run felt super! 56 mins total. i was supposed to run for 32, but i hit that time and felt great, so i just kept running, and just ended up doing my long run instead. i figured this way, w the Ys modified schedule, i know that my long run is done and in the books. if i end up needing to drop a trng session, i can be a short run or something less critical. then i went to the pool and did a short session, 32 minutes. i was planning on going a little longer, but i was getting hungry for lunch. time to call it day. all in all, a truly fantastic endurance workout. i LOVE the freedom my schedule affords me, so that i can make adjustments like i did today, go longer if im feeling good, doing three sessions back to back. im really fortunate. its all good.....
