Feeling very frustrated with my training the past week and a half or so.  Having a very hard time sticking to the plan.  Seems like I am just trying to get something in before the end of the day instead of an actual scripted workout.  Life just seems to be conspiring against me.  Work, wife, kids, friends all seem to need me more than normal lately... I know I have a long time until my HIM in Sept, but I don't feel like I'm making progress the way I should be. Maybe I'm over estimating where I should be?  I don't plan to win the race, but I would really like to compete in my age group.  Any thoughts Aaron? Should I just maintain what I'm doing and pick the plan back up when I can?

JeepFleeb - 2009-05-26 8:44 PM Happy Tuesday!

Monday's olympic race went fairly well.  Swim wasn't anything terribly fast but I drafted extremely well; just wished I would have been on a faster pair of feet.

Bike was a 4 loop course.  As soon as I started the invitational wave lapped me so I hopped on their wheel (at a USAT legal distance) and sat there for 3 laps.  A big pack of cheaters in my AG passed me mid-way though the final lap.  I sat back then dropped the hammer on the final long uphill section.  Pushed 26+ up that hill for a half mlie and gained a small cushion going into T2.

Run was okay.  Settled into my rhythm after a mile or so but didn't have many people to work off of.  2nd lap was crowded so I was constantly passing people, I just wasn't catching people on the same lap as me.  Finish was a hair under 2:15, 4th in my age group and 35th overall (out of 1200 or so).

But the fun part was afterwards.  Check my logs of pics from the professional ITU race that started afterwards!

This week the volume and intensity is a good bit higher.  This is the last push before my Eagleman taper and that'll be the end of my season.

Great race and sweet pics. How far out was 3rd place?

Everyone is soooo quiet and we are at risk for falling to the bottom of the page which I just cannot have!
I didn't see that anyone was racing (or am I just blind?!)   Hope you all have a great weekend ~ I'm just hoping for no rain!!

Trying to sort out the weekend/week to come so I can plan out my training schedule.  Race next weekend, just a 10k, but hope to do well.  Gonna focus a bit more on running over the next week or so since I just finished a swim challenge. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

I agree it is quiet....too quiet.

Last week was a tough one. I wasn't prepared for the late nights that were put in at work. That really put a damper on my training, but I'm back now and fired up! Just put in a 2hr run and it felt awesome! Breaks like last week help remind me why I do this Triathlon thing, it is just fun! Gonna follow "gobluedds" example and try to plan ahead for next week, hopefully that will help me get everything in. I have 1 week before my true 20wk plan starts, so I gotta work out the kinks now!

Yep, bike fit is correct. There's no point in riding any bike at any intensity for any duration if it doesn't fit. You'll either be on the road to injury or you'll be producing much less power and be less comfortable which is horribly frustrating.

Thanks again everyone and Aaron for the bike fit info. Now, just gotta do it. It is interesting, I did feel faster last season than I do now. I have recently added a fast forward seatpost and aerobars. Bike fit probably has a lot to do with it.

Not racing at all in June, just training. Next event will be July 5th Play-Tri Olympic.

Hope everyone is enjoying the same weather we are having in Texas. It is beautiful. :-)

You can tell this week to "Take THAT... B*tch!" --->doing a happy training dance, ooohh yeah.

After my swim tomorrow the May swim challenge can be counted and scored.  I think my touting the No More Missed Workouts mantra bit me in the proverbial azz, 'cause then the crap week happened.  Looking forward to being totally back on track though!

I hope you ALL are having a fantabulous training/racing weekend!

Happy training!

Two beautiful days this weekend and two decent runs in plus a pretty good bike.  I may have got my mojo back.  We'll see how the week continues.  Planning a  short (30 min) run tomorrow plus a little swim (1700 meters)to stretch out after.

Hello everyone:
Update well last week was great last sunday I did my first OLY then on wensday DW wanted to do the B-fit Bday challenge so we did a 3 mile OWS 39 mile bike 9 mile run that made for a long day. I also got my new race tires for Boise and they work great.
I got a question for you coach my biggest problem in my OLY was drafting on the swim I would catch a pair of feet but after a few strokes I was swimming over them and getting my goggles knocked off so my question is how do you know when you got the right set of feet to draft off of without swimming up there a$$. Granted this was only my second TRI I have ever done so maybe it is lack of experience.

BTW, Scott...congrats on not having to show your assatar this month!

I have an easy (read: taper) week this week before my race this Sunday am very excited as this one will definitely be a tri (versus my last one turning into a du) which means I finally get to race my first one!!!

On the bright side I'm finally able to do RMR, VO2 (caloric expenditure), and HR zone (blood lactate) testing!  I love making people hurt for money.

Everbody must be out training thats why it's so quiet  Smile

My taper has begun for Boise and I'm stating to feel the nerves twitching in anticipation.

My DW in her crazyness to become a Marathon Maniac has signed us up to do a marathon 2 weeks after Boise and another one 2 weeks after that. Well I guess I should start doing some more long run's. I have not done one since April.

Good Luck Sunday.  I will be racing this weekend as well. Going to make it more of a training exercise than an expectation for great times.  Going to ride my bike to the venue (12 miles) then do the run (10 k) as a a sort of brick, and then ride home.

That is a pretty ambitious woman you've got there.  Good luck with all that running.  When will you have time to do anything else?

Man your logs look awesome and you are going to rock it in Boise. I look forward to reading the RR.

After that you are going to have fun time with all the Marys. My legs hurt just thinking about it...
