Why is today going so slowly - I keep looking at my computer clock and it is not moving at all!  It is not even lunch time yet

Time to eat my day old Blueberry Muffin I guess   Some good old fashion eating out of boredom eating going on!

Time didn't completely stop for you did it?  Did you make it make to lunch?

Finally and now it is time to pass time by as we wait for 3:30 departure time.

Have fun at the dentist - bleck!

BILL.  did you just tell Neal to have FUN at the dentist???

oxymoron to the nth.

id rather go and see my seriously handsome albeit in a boy-ish Doogie Howser sorta way OB-GYN then...oh yeah that's right, i did say that was wrong on so many levels.

NEAL.  how do you like your dentist??

LOL.

skrtrnr - 2009-10-08 1:48 PM i'm sworn off of McDs for the very same reason....that and the hideous aftertaste in my mouth that lasted a few hours the last time i ate there.

the fast food industry.  i swear.  they're trying to KILL us!

though....gotta love those McDonaldland Cookies.  and Hot Fudge Sundaes.

mmmmm. mmmmmmm.
stacieb

I have pretty much sworn off all fast food.  I always feel sick after eating it.  I did have McDonald's a few weeks ago after a long night of drinking with some buddies.  Bad decision.

i hear ya.  i had the worst taste in mouth AFTERWARDS the last time we ate at McDs...i told my kids, i  seriously didnt think i could go/i could take them there again.

a long night of drinking+McDs=bad decision nodoubt.

even after eating at some resturants, especially chain resturants.  i feel sick.  the worst was when we were on vacation and we at out almost every night.  not only did i get sick, but my mood was severely altered.  im sooo not kidding.

im beginning to wonder if its the additives and perservatives that the chains MUST use in their food.

because when we go to little local places, that you know they went to the market that morning to buy fresh produce and meat and all, i dont get sick.

does make you wonder, doesnt it?

and i think now that im training for tris, ive become more 'attune' to my body, im certainly eating better overall.

not that im purist by any stretch, i love a good bucket of wings or a milkshake every once in awhile et al, its just when you eat well/healthy/clean 80-90% of the time, and go to put crap into your body, your body REVOLTS.

which, is a good thing, dontcha think?

I've got 30 minutes to go until I can get out of here. I'm leaving a little early today so I can get my run, and a shower, in before I go meet with my daughter's teacher. Things aren't going well for my first grader this year so I'm not looking forward to this meeting. I wish I would have time after the meeting to run, I have a feeling I am going to need to blow off some steam.

sorry to hear about this....hope you can resolve any issues.

its gonna be SOME day today.

spin this am.

then a quick trip to the OB-GYN.  [schedule your annuals ladies, if you havent already]

my youngest sons Open House this eve.  YAY!  i love how excited he is about us coming!  too cute.

REST DAY tomorrow.

then tackling the beast of an 11 miler on Saturday.

its that mental block thing, we were talking about.

ive run this distance before, but....

its just wagging its ugly finger in front of my face for some reason.  probably cuz my 10 miler was so UGH-ish.

im contemplating running down at the trail just to mix it up, and it would give me something to look foward to ie motivation.

i *heart* the trail (rails to trail, crushed limestone, in the woods) and i havent been there in ages.  i used to ride my hybrid bike there all the time before i had my expensive road-one.  the limestone dust makes the chain all gritty....so i dont 'dare' ride there now.

and i used to do bike/run bricks there too, in the Spring.

so....i miss it.

this would give me a 'reason' to look forward to my 11 miler [can you tell im talking myself into this one....]

i still have a 12 miler next week, so i could do that on the road.  nothing 'lost'.

i promised/challenged myself to do all my long runs outside/on the road in prep for this 1/2 MARY.  i used to do the majority of my trng on the TM, and found come race day i wasnt as prepared as i could have been to 'deal' w running on the road.

but im thinking one run on the trail for purely motivational reasons is NOT a 'deal breaker'.

isnt it grand that as athletes we have OPTIONS?

gotta love em.

and isnt that was its all about....

RUNNING HAPPY?

stacieb

Stacie,

I get tired just looking at your day schedule.  I will never say that SAHM have it easier than the rest of us.  I ride to work, play on BT all day, ride home, go to football practice and run and then go home and sleep.

Your day is crazy!!!

Guys need the annual also just not the ob-gyn (thank god!)

BILL.  good thing you'd never say a SAHM has it easier....thats definate grounds for frying pan to the head.  LOL.

honestly, when im doing it all it doesnt seem that 'bad' but when i write it down and post it here on the thread, i think manohpete i am super crazy busy.

sometime i wonder if my life WOULD be less hectic if i was a working mom, but then....

i come to my senses.....

what i LOVE best about my life right now is that my time is my own.

theres the 'musts' that i need to get done, but still, i have a lot of freedom and flexibility.

as for the OB-GYN,

he said, and i quote...

'YOU'RE PERFECT IN EVERYWAY POSSIBLE'

he said it. i believe.  that settles it.  and im gonna tell my husband ALLLLLLLL ABOUT IT!

so there.  LOL.

last year he said that i have really GREAT breasts.  and i said, oh you think so do you?  and he got all embarassed and had to explain himself - that because im an athlete, i dont have a lot of fatty tissue on my breasts, and when it comes to doing a breast exam (which he was doing at the time when he made the comment) they are great breast, cuz if there were some abnormality he would feel it right away....and....

ya.ya.  whatever.  you should have just stopped with, you have really GREAT breasts.  LOL.

as an aside, my BP was 110/70.  woot!

seriously though.  everything is PERFECT, and that's the BEST news a girl can hear.

and yes, uhm.  men.  have your annual whatever you get as well.

all kidding aside.

i'd love to hear your ideas/suggestions.

whats good.

your favorites.

things that are easy to make.

non-meat protein sources.

helpful websites, cookbooks, that sorta thing.

im all ears.
stacieb

you can leave me a PM if that's 'easier'.....

stacieb

Am a lazy beans & rice & whole wheat pasta & boca burger girl.  That said, one quick suggestion.....add quinoa to your pantry staples.  In the grains section of Whole Foods.  Good source of protein.

QUINOA.  check.

i like beans, rice, whole wheat pasta AND boca burgers.

and i can be 'lazy' when it comes to food...well.  lazy in the sense.  that i dont want to fuss or fiddle with my food.  just give me a few of the basics, and im good to go.

and QUINOA, is it the sorta thing you use in place of rice/pasta?  [ive seen it,heard of it, but never used it before...]

stacieb

Stacie I think running on the trail is a great idea! How did you handle doing all running on the TM? that is total mental effort!

its funny KIM.

a lot of people asked me that question.

honestly.  i liked the 'drone' of it, the mind-less-ness of it.  theres almost this, dare i say, zen-ish quality to running on the TM, were i could just zone/bliss out....

when im out, im constantly 'worried' about this car, that intersection, how hard the asphalt, how my body is killing me from pounding.

i guess maybe thats why if im gonna be running outside, id rather run on a trail, even a well 'designated' trail like the rails for trails, cuz at least there i know im 'safe' theres pedestrian traffic and the off-leash dogs can be a MAJOR hassle (especially clipped in on a bike...) but theres a hum-drum to it too.

if that makes sense.

BUT, all that said, i do think there was a downside to doing all my training on a TM when it came to race day.

looking back on my decision to do all my runs outside/on the road, i would have done better to vary the surfaces - TM, limestone, road - rather than 'locking' myself 'in'.

i doubt that running 11 miles tomorrow on the trail is gonna make a difference one way or another in how i do at my 1/2, if anything i think it will help cuz mentally its my happy place.

thats the beauty of what we do!

alrighty.  now to the personal post....

REST DAY today.

i am making a serious/attentive effort to do a chapter in my writers workshop today.  i even wrote it my calendar, like an appointment so i wouldnt be tempted to let others things get in the way, like maybe, uhm, i dunno, FOOLING AROUND ON BT! lol.

im more of a when the mood strikes me kinda of person when it comes to writing, but i am trying to 'carve out' some time to go through the material in the book i purchased, to improve my writing skills (its a really good book....)

so.  that's on the agenda.

and i need to get to the running store (theres one in Cranberry now, can we all say yahoo!)

to buy one of those fuelbelts where you can stuff your stuff into the loops.

i figure im gonna need one for tomorrows run since ill be on the trail and not running the road arounds my neighborhood.  it was easy to drive around to stash my stuff.

when i hit the trail, im gonna be in there for awhile, need to carryin all my provisions.

i few returns to make today - most importantly a pair of running tights i bought.  brought them home and first time i put them on the zipper got stuck and it wont move.  BAH!

ill probably need them to run tomorrow, its supposed to be quite nip.

and i need to do some laundry, sweep the hardwood, clean the bathrooms (AGAIN!!!)

then pizza night w the fam, hang out and just chill.

welp.

my life wont live itself w/out me in it!

so im off!

RUN HAPPY EVERYONE

ilucy2 - 2009-10-08 8:53 PM What a day! I was so crabby, I did not lift this morning, figured I would need it by the end of the day worse. Got to the office, and my hair just bugged me, I was so crabby. Called made an appointment for this afternoon. Then I had a strangulation (attempted) case, I was mad at the suspect, I was shaking inside. That has not happened in a long time..being that mad. Calmed myself with candy corn, talked about exercising with a coworker, and felt better. THEN....I went to the hair cutter for a color. She has many awards. Last time, she fried my hair by putting blonde on it 3 times in a row. Now we need color....picked it out, some bright brown a tad of red PERFECT! Until she took the towel off. I thought my kids overreacted, until I saw a lady sitting in the waiting area, and her reaction. My first thought was a nasty looking pumpkin, or one of those pieces of corn you put on the table. NICE....I treated myself to a nice greasy burger....loved it. and it was worth watching the reaction of the people in the resturant. We shall see in the morning.

ummmmm sorry?
