blujay65 - 2009-12-13 7:00 AM Woke up this morning with a swollen and scratchy throat. Don't like when things come up fast like that, so I am canceling my run today and will probably restart tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Hope you feel better soon...

I'm healthy, but just lazy...because of my longer morning commutes (longest last week was 2 hours [ice & snow]), it's been knocking out my morning workouts...domino effect...I miss my lunchtime workouts to catch up on stuff I could have caught up with in the morning...

This weekend was full of Christmastime prep...decorations, shopping, etc...

Hopefully today starts a week of normality...

Lunchtime run planned...

a_prl - 2009-12-13 7:01 PM A beautiful, sunny, 70-degree day meant I had no excuse not to run. Got in my first one of the month.... I know, I know. What a slacker!

Appreciate your weather!  I'm using weather as an excuse...which is lame, btw...

Good Monday morninig.  It looks like everyone is doing well.  We definately made some progress last week. Now, week 3!!!

Steve, I can't even imagine 20 miles in the snow.  OUCH!

I was suppose to run yesterday, but ditched that plan.  I decided to make it a rest day.  Instead, I just did some weight training, stretching, and foam roller.  Hips are still a little sore this morning.

Impressive!I would have swim spa'd If I were you.
Baowolf - 2009-12-13 10:45 PMOh my long run day for me 20 miles in 1-3 inches of snow average pace 8:30 mpm.  The temp dropped about 12 degrees while I was out there and though my temperature was ok for most of it, started to cool off the last mile or two and then by the time I got home I was shivering.  It took about 30-60 min to get back up to feeling comfortable.  It was a realy tough run with not great footing and then I was supposed to pick up the pace for the last 5 miles.  Well, I was able to keep it faster for 3 of the 5 last miles, but miles 18 and 19 were  much slower.  Just glad to have that one done, phwa.

That puts me at 86.5 miles run for the month and I caught the spreadsheet up, though thanks for updating this morning Tim.  Is good to be warm again.

My marathon is in 1 month, so had to get the 20 in and didn't want to do it on the treadmill.  I did a 1.3 mile loop, so I had a pretty good path squashed into the snow by the time I had done the 15 laps.  I will be happy when the mary is over and I can spread the workouts out a bit more.

Rest day with strength training doesn't sound like a rest day 8).

I hope everyone gets over whatever nagging cold/fatigue issues are plaguing them.

Icy roads again this morning for me as well, but my commute is only 10 miles, so no biggie.  Hopefuly some of the snow melts off the roads for tomorrows run.  They don't really belive in snow removal around here, they just wait for the weather to get above freezing to melt it.

Hoping to get about 4 miles in this afternoon.  The temp's not all that warm, but at least the sun is shining!

Coming down with a cold here, yay.  I am not sure about running today in the 30Fs and drizzle.  Skipped my workout lastnight and just went right to bed after work.  I got in about 13 hours of sleep.  Well we see how I feel a bit later.

Oh well nice easy 7 miles in 20 mph winds should sleep well again tonight.  Hopefully it doesn't cost me too much.

O.k. I'm still alive - things just got a little hectic for a bit.  45 minutes on the rollers today, and another core workout.

Got in another run/swim combo with some push-ups.  My wife and I tried a 24hr Super Sport and didn't think it was really that special.  The machines were new, but not that big of a deal.  They provided towels and had nicer showers, but other than that it seemed pretty much the same as a regular Sport.  Any of you pay the extra money to be a member of the 24hr Fitness Super Sports?

Nope.  I swim at a local fitness club near my house; I think they are exclusive to the SF bay area.  While I'm not crazy about the indoor pool, the childcare provided is the only way I can get my workouts done.

While not part of my goals for the challenge, I had a great day on the bike.  I realized today that my training has become so run focused that I was missing the bike.

In the afternoon, I got fitted to my tri bike.  What a great experience!  The process took about three hours.  I can't believe how many changes were made to the bars, saddle, cleat positioning, and knee alignment.  I wasn't even close to correct positioning.  Not to mention, I learned alot about correct anatomical positioning for maximun efficiency while on the bike.

Sounds like a great fitting.  You are going to LOVE the difference!

I work at a university so I use the fitness center, I try and stay away during heavy student times but generally it works out pretty well and the pool is never too crowded. Unfortunately it is tied to campus holidays so there will be no access for a good bit over the holidays. What the heck I wont be in town anyway.

Should have done something yesterday but I got super busy. Just accepted a huge project that has to have a proposal done by Jan 12. Lots of work right now and I leave for NYC in two days!

Will run today; a 10 mile hill run, hope to get in a strength workout today or tomorrow, then on Friday it's a two day drive north. Ouch!

I'll check back later with my run report.

Wow! That sounds intense and super informative. It's amazing what big changes the little adjustments cause. I've never done anything like that but just changing one cleat position made a huge difference on my knees. Have fun being faster and sleeker!!

No, just the normal 24hr club. They have a pool, but I mostly belong for weight training and going to aerobic classes with friends. Yoga, 24Lift, hopefully hip hop and kickboxing soon. All that fun stuff.

Swam this morning. My rotation is getting better which means slightly more speed. Wahoo!

Also, one of my roomies gave me my Christmas present early. Paddles and fins! Now I have my own pool toys!!
