Happy Independence Day everyone! I just finished a nice grill-out with the family and I'll be loading them up into the car shortly to go check out some fireworks.

Hi everbody!

Melindynuck--here in Utah we celebrate the 4th even longer this year. See, the local majority (a.k.a. the Mormons) have issues with doing anything on Sundays other than go to church. So, since the 4th of July is on a Sunday this year, most of the state celebrated the 4th on the 3rd. Except for Park City, who are trying to be different from the rest of the state....and a few cities who are doing fireworks on both the 3rd and 5th (but not the 4th).  

Then there's the 24th of July, which is Pioneer Days, which celebrates the founding of Utah by the mormon pioneers. It's almost a bigger celebration than the 4th... fireworks, fairs, more parades, a bigger downtown parade, and all. 

July can get pretty busy around here...

The weather this week is supposed to be HOT HOT HOT!

My daughter is going to my cousin's this afternoon to swim and I'm thinking about taking my son and his friend who spent the night hiking. We'll see about the hiking though. I suggested we go canoeing on the lake, but whatever they want to do, as long as it doesn't involve video games.

Wow y'all have been busy while we've been meandering down the east coast - I have a lot to catch up on later (too bad I get car sick reading). Just wanted to say quick hi and wish you all a belated happy holiday. Will be thinking of you all working hard as we're tubing thru the GA mountains... Marla

So...back to "work" today. Aka. Set up for surgery tomorrow day...maybe do some stats but I'm not promising anything. haha.

Also...I'm going to pop by a physio office near where I am staying...I can't take it anymore. My azz/ITB/TFL/hamstring/whatever else that could be in the area/piriformis for good measure is driving me freaking nuts. I need to run and the 20km on Sat super angrified (yes, I made a new word up) my pre-existing condition.  Not as bad as before, but its annoying me now. Hopefully I can get in.

Hey all. Happy 5th! Slow day today. I started out with a run but then went to chores and toting the hose around. My job is setting the alarm and moving the water from tree to tree. Thank goodness the water is from a stream up the road. A well would be dry by now.

I am also packing up to go to the Highland Games on Wednesday.
Sigh, Men in Kilts...

Later this evening we are being picked up at the lake to go out for dinner on the lake. Nice. Other peoples food on the lake.

Well got into physio today. Learned that I life fail with gravity. Also, swim/bike/run are pretty much incompatible with one another...ya...haha...

Back to failing with gravity--I stabilize pretty much completely wrong (good job me) and now have learned the proper way to stabilize my joints. Wooooooooo...it makes sense...going to be hard to keep those muscles contracted for awhile though. Also, losing some more lbs will probably provide to be instrumental in reducing the strain as well. At least I know I haven't done something really, really bad to myself.

He didn't even tell me to not run...I don't really know if this is a good or bad thing...maybe he just knew I was going to run anyways? Haha. So I get to stretch and joint stabilize. And NSAIDS!! Woohoo...

Men in Kilts? Really? Haha...1/2 of my blood is Scottish and I do not concur.

Longest ride yet today, 51.5 miles.  Felt pretty good but was running out of gas the last 5 miles.

On an unrelated note, the town we live in us in the top ten cities to raise families http://www.familycircle.com/family-fun/money/10-best-towns-for-families-2010/?page=3  .  Pretty cool.

Debating if I am going to do a short mini run tonight. Did some of my stretches tonight and kind of want to see if I can maintain contraction of stabilizing muscles...hmmm...

PS. WORD OF THE DAY: ENTRAINMENT

I learned the definition of a new word today. Hahaha.

I was reading a paper for my research and the word started a sentence and I had zero idea what it meant. I had to google it. It basically means synchronization--more or less...haha...

Yay new words...maybe it will help me finish a crossword one day? If I ever have the patience to finish a crossword...
