pbrown70 - 2011-01-03 8:41 PM Day one on the diet and I'm dying.  I got home and wanted to eat everthing in sight. I escaped to the gym and struggled through my swim workout . Now I get to eat dinner.

Make sure your eating before and after training -- those are essentially "free" calories because they get used during training or in the recovery immediately afterward.

10k run this morning...

I have to call my husband's aunt and ask if she'll watch the kids so I can go pick out my new bike.  I am dying to start building a bike base.  I'm a little over running right now.....

Run after work this evening.

I skipped my swim yesterday and likely will for a week or two. I just can't stand going when it's so crowded at the gym. I know there's that nice huggy-feely thread in the main tri forum about embracing all the newbies, but in a pool with only 4 lanes it's hard to remain friendly.

just dont read the thread about the old lady in the whirlpool.  "huggy-feely" takes on a whole new meaning

I really need to incorporate a better stretching program into my routine.  I think maybe a mix of static and DC extreme stretches.  Not sure.

After being in the gym for at least 5 or 6 years I've learned to loathe resolutionists.

40 min (maybe more) on the bike and trainer today. Got new DVD's with scenery to take my mind off watching the clock while I ride inside and am excited to see if they are helpful.

That's impressive.  Nice work

Running aftert work tonight. Going to try the Lactate Threshold thing again, to see if I come up with the same 174 HR. I am a morning workout guy, but it just didn't happen this morning.  Almost got the kids to school late.

Thanks.  It's amazing what one can do when their kids sleep through the night.  3 year old has been having night terrors lately.

If you're interested there's a 5K in East Hartford on Sunday 1/9 at 1 p.m.  Shaun, Erica, Jeff and I are all running it it.  It would be the perfect opportunity to do an LT test.

Did I tell y'all that my wife signed up for a 4 mile run in April??  I'm supposed to set her up a routine and hold her accountable.  This will not end well.

rizer22 - you should join us on sunday.  it will be fun!!

also, regarding a stretching routine, i could use a simple one.  i do not stretch before or after working out, and i'm sure i suffer more than i know.  if anyone has a simple stretching routine that they like, let me know.  i am going to order yoga for runners.....that might help.

dont over think it.  in terms of dynamic stretching, nothing is better than walking lunges and yoga

streching bfore is not necessary, walking is better.  if you wan tto stretch do dynamic stretching, such as the aforementioned walking lunges.  You should stretch afterwards.  coach kelly will show you how on sunday.
