kcarroll - 2011-01-09 2:27 PM Greetings Ghouligans. Looks like we are having lots of weather woes right now. I am traveling to TN this week. 6:30 am flight tomorrow. They are supposed to get snow and ice. I am not looking forward to this one.

Melindy, your brother needs a smack. I'm sure you can handle it.

Dee, glad you are doing well.

Ann, get well.

Robin, I will have a table and be waiting for you at the end of C'bad.

Neal, what are you up to?

Kendra, my library just reopened. YEAH!

Oh yeah, Pinkalicious is playing at the Community Theater today. The town has been run over with pint size girls wearing pink.

That just makes me laugh.

They were awfully cute. Did cause a bit of a traffic snarl though.

ceilidh - 2011-01-09 2:33 PM I'll be back later. Gotta go get some christmas from outside to inside. It is way more fun putting it up than taking it down.

Have fun. I'm off to shred all my files from 2003.

I'm online shopping because I can't go anywhere and I don't want to study--even though I should be. I need to figure out what I want for dinner too because if I am stuck here I might as well make something yummy...

I guess I could clean too...

So far I have bought myself a new swim bag because mine is dying from team aquatic--Canadian swim store...It's a Speedo Pro Backpack and it's PINK!!! Yay PINK!! Bought myself a new training suit (even though I really don't need one but I need some motivation to go to practice and get in the water it seems since getting back)

I got this suit:

I heard that on the radio this morning. Thousands of flights are being cancelled, too.

Okay, here is my traveling saga.

Original flight was scheduled for noon on Sunday to arrive in ATL by 7pm.
Saturday night after playing PowerGrid, we decided to print out our boarding passes.  Got on the computer to see our flight was cancelled.  WTF!!!  No phone call or emails letting us know this.  Our itinary showed that they had rescheduled us to a red eye flight on Tuesday night with two layovers prior to getting to ATL on Wednesday (3 days later than our original flight).

So, hubby got on the phone with the airline, and I got on another phone to try to find a car company that would pick us up and take us to the airport (we would have to get up 4 sleeping grandchildren, put them in a cold car in the middle of the night unless we could find either another driver or a babysitter.) because it is now 12:30 am Sunday morning.

We found a wonderful friend of my daughters who came over to be in the house with the kids while our daughter drove us to the airport (2.5 hour round trip for her).  We got ourselves onto a 5:30am flight to Detroit, with a 2 hour layover, then a flight to ATL.  We got in only about 30 minutes earlier than our original flight would have gotten in.

Why the heck did the airlines cancel flights in anticipation of a snow storm so far out?  Our original flight would have made it in NO PROBLEM.  In fact the snow did not start until about 10pm.  We would have landed at 7pm.

The really sad part of the story is that when the kids went to bed, we did not say goodnight to them for we thought we would still have the morning with them.  Instead we sneak  out in the middle of the night with no goodbyes.  I'm so sad about that.

And now we are snowed in and get to have another day of vacation, courtesy of the snow.  Yeah!

Oh, and in case you did not figure it out, I went with no sleep from 6am on Saturday morning until 9pm Sunday night.

Sorry Kendra.

I can kind of understand the airline wanting to be proactive, but that was a little bit ridiculous.

We have about 6 inches of snow. That is a lot for us.

Kendra, so sorry about the flight mess up and not getting to say by to your grandiose grandkids. That sucks.

We have just enough snow to be a tease. The driveway is covered, the yard not so much.

I hope we get more this week. Yes, I'm still running a fever.

Fevers suck. Take care of yourself. I am STILL not feeling great. It has been 3 weeks. I am ready to feel better. If I had taken it seriously when I first got sick, maybe I'd be better by now?

They've been low grade, and other than feverish, and a little sluggish, I don't feel bad.

On the way in this morning I was listening to the weather. Again we have one of those this is what we think is going to happen, but... scenarios. We could get a little, if the 2 storms that could hit us merge, we could get dumped on. I already told my boss this morning I don't drive in the snow.

It is supposed to start snowing tomorrow afternoon. I'm only working until noon, so that's good. My husband has the day off so he is pulling the kids out of school at noon and we are going to the farm show. They all like to look at the tractors, we all like the animals and the food.

Good for you for not driving in the snow. My DH will be jealous of the tractor show. He is silly for them. I'll take the animals and the food.

They usually have it work out that there are ducks, or chicks, or something being born this week. It also usually seems there is a calf, or some piglets born there, too. It's a lot of walking, but we enjoy it.
