I SWAM MONDAY!!!!!

from my log:

now if you are reading this, do not fall off your chair...yes i did swim, i needed to swim, i had been struggling mentally about not swimming. I did this set

warm up
50 back balance
50 kick
50 free easy peasy

i did a set alternating between kick drills and 100m freestyle

4x100 free
4x50 kickdrill

cooldown
50 back balance
100 kick
100 really easy free

the g ood part about this workout is i timed my 2nd and 4th hundreds, i am still swimming 1:30-1:35 100m, but i can only do 1 before my form starts falling apart. that will come with swim endurance. I was also taking 10-15 secs rest between sets.

Awww I inspired a discussion.  I have a  BOTTECCHIA Sprint BZ563 .  Basically a bikes direct bike sold at a local retailer.  Cheap bike, but when I bought it I wasn't sure tris were something I'd do more than once a year.  Now every race I go to I get bike envy and obsess about it for a while.  Can't seem to shake it this go round.  May see how much $$$ I can wrangle up for my bday and go from there.  Dream bike???  Probably a Felt D2.

The plan for the day was light ST for legs and then swim this morning.  Wellllll the wife had the beginnings of pink eye yesterday and woke up this morning with both eyes swollen shut.  So I received a pic via text right before jumping in the pool.  So I drove home and took the kids to school and her to the doc and I'm now working from home.  May get a swim or a run in after work.

My 4 kids and I just had pink eye a couple weeks ago.  Not fun.  Trying to keep a 13 month old from scratching his eyes and touching everything is pretty much impossible.  Hope your wife feels better soon!

I know so little about biking yet......I don't have a dream bike.  I have some dream skills I'd like to acquire

I got a Giant Defy 1 this past Feb., and so far it's treating me well.  Unfortunately the lake effect winds and hills in Cleveland Heights are not.  LOL

I don't really have a dream bike so I'll settle for one that goes fast.

(Almost) all bikes have the potential to go fast -- as Lance said "its not about the bike"

Very true on the engine.  I love blowing by guys on P3s while I'm trucking along on my POS.

Rude that bike is sick.  Very envious.

I have s sweet Orbea Ordu and it looks awesome and hopefully I will do it justice one day, however it still hurts my crotch . . . so dream bike is one that doesn't!!!

On the postive side, it is super light and fast and comfortable (other than the crotch stuff)

Rudy - My wife's yoga teacher called and wants her gong back.  I owe you a ton of money for the bike, please, dear god, let me by you a more masculine disc wheel .

Seriously - Rudy is a perfect example of what dedication to training, particularly single sport focused training can do for you.  You will be hard pressed to find many AGers who have developed as stong a bike in as short period of time as rudy.  More importantly, he cooks great ribs.

ok I wanted to make sure I could do the swim distance for a International. I did it ok my time was not great 30 minutes. While I did my warms ups and drills before hand. I'm not sure I could have done the bike an d the run. I was pretty tired should I chalk it up to a bad day. Usually I feel pretty good after my swims but  I don't usually do that much distance all at once. has anyone else had this experience?

Just remember there's no such thing as a good bike followed by a bad run! (or as Shaun says unfortunately they don't give out medals at the end of the bike leg).

Seriously -- triathlon is one that involves three disciplines and you need to able to execute efficiently on all three.  Why do you think Lance is so scared of Kona?

Went to the gym to swim this morning but the pool was drained.  WTF?  Anyway hoped on a spin bike and cranked the resistance for a little over an hour and then did some core work.  Is this week over yet?

AVG HR was 55bpm

No idea how to "log" this as workout, though

other than my half where i was injured and under trained for the distance of the run, my fastest bikes are usually followed by a pretty decent run for what i can do (when in mid-season form). Kelly you have seen my logs, we have talked about them and my training. Keep in mind i did nothing longer than a sprint last year, and am in much better overall shape and much lighter than 2009 when i did my Oly's and half.

It is hard to determine if my runs are really all that bad in the Tri's that i have done, as i have only been at it for 3 years, and my runs improve every race as my base run mileage and run speed increases, i am still at the point that extra distance relates to extra speed. I guess this will be a better conversation for Martha's Vineyard, after I go sub 60 on the bike and we will see what i have left for the run and Patriot is in the books.

seriously.
